GLEE Recap: If You Like It Put a Ring on It

Please tell me I’m not the only one who felt like they got bitch slapped by GLEE tonight.
The competing storyline lines, the bombardment of music, the evocation of real emotions. I think I need a nap or at least a drink.
Love was most certainly in the air tonight for some of our GLEEksters. Who found love? Who was passed over?
If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode…then why are you reading this? Go watch and come back later because we’re going to be talking some spoilers up in here.

THE GLEE PROJECT Will Return for a Second Season This Summer

Comments Off on THE GLEE PROJECT Will Return for a Second Season This Summer
Oxygen has just announced that THE GLEE PROJECT will return to the network for a second season this summer. Each week wannabe stars are tested on their singing, acting and dancing abilities in the hopes of winning the competition and landing a seven episode arc on GLEE.
GLEE creator Ryan Murphy will make the final call on who stays and who goes. The contestants and mentored each week by casting director Robert Ulrich, choreographer and GLEE co-Executive Producer Zach Woodlee and vocal coach Nikki Anders.
Last season the top four finalists were all awarded with GLEE appearances. Damian McGinty joined the show earlier this season as Rory Flannigan. Co-winner Samuel Larsen has yet to appear on the show, but is rumored to be on set starting this week. Third place finisher Lindsay Pearce made quite an impact on fans and critics during her two appearances as Harmony (aka The Gerber Baby). I wouldn’t surprised to see her back next season. Fourth place finisher Alex Newelli s set to make his mark later this season.
With the recent news that most of the current GLEE seniors will return next season and the rumor that Grant Gustin (Sebastia) will be made a series regular, I personally don’t think that the show really needs new characters. They often struggle to properly service the current cast. But, I did really enjoy THE GLEE PROJECT last summer so the news isn’t all bad.
Now, what’s the chance of Cameron Mitchell throwing his hat in the ring again this season?

A GLEE Spinoff? Fox Honchos Spill on the Status of the Graduating Seniors

GLEE fans around the world were thrown into a tizzy when it was announced that fan favorite characters – Rachel, Finn and Kurt – were going to be graduating at the end of this season of the show. What was to become of their real life portrayers, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer? Would they be leaving the show?
Fans clung to the hopes of a spinoff, but show creator, Ryan Murphy, shot down the idea, in an apparent hissy fit over the reaction of the press and cast members.
But today there is new news. Although there aren’t any juicy details to spill, it was confirmed by Fox President Kevin Reilly that is a GLEE spinoff is not happening. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the last we’ve seen of the graduating seniors.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE to Undergo Changes After Shocking News from Fox
January 1, 2012 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD
Among the New Year’s Day declarations of hangovers and resolutions came one tweet that put a bit of a damper on my 2012 viewing habits.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE producer and judge, Nigel Lythgoe, announced that Fox has decided to cancel the SYTYCD results show.
#FOX have cancelled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD. At least we have another season at the end of MAY.
— Nigel Lythgoe (@dizzyfeet) January 1, 2012
While I’m usually the first to complain about the hour-long fluff fest that accompany reality TV elimination shows (I’m talking to you especially over-bloated AMERICAN IDOL), I find the SYTYCD results show rather entertaining. Yes, I hit the fast forward button from time to time, depending on the musical act, but more often than not, the results show “filler” is actually fantastic content for dance fans.
Throughout the season, all genres of dance from around the world are showcased in an attempt to expand the dance vocabulary of the viewing audience. (Before SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, the only dance I knew was the running man, now I can tell you when someone’s fingers aren’t properly extended during a pas de deux.) But what I’m really going to miss is the group performances, often the artistic highlights of the series.
More importantly, the weekly results show is pivotal to the current make-up of the series. Dancers perform. Fan votes. The lowest vote-getters are eliminated. The cancellation of the results show will fundamentally change the DNA of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.
So how is this all going to work?
