City College has a space simulator!

Great scott!

Dean Pelton is determined to keep up with the collegiates at CC and decides Greendale must have a simulator of its own in tonight’s episode.

And for some reason, he decides our favorite study group is capable of cleaning and refurbishing the school’s old one — which looks a lot like a Winnebago, but whatever — and, well, that’s when all hell breaks loose of course.

If you’re familiar with the 1995 film, APOLLO 13, this half hour will provide some huge laughs. If not, you may miss a few things, but it’s still funny and smart and silly, as COMMUNITY usually is.

Lots of good nods to Kentucky Fried Chicken too. So if you’re a fan of the old Colonel, you’ve got another reason to tune in.

Will you?

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: ‘Subway Wars’

October 12, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, HIMYM, How I Met Your Mother

So, what did we learn from last night’s HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER in which the gang faced off in a race to see Woody Allen, to prove who is the best New Yorker amongst them?

We learned that Lily and Marshall are having some trouble getting pregnant. I mean, it’s only been two months since they started trying — which is not a long time — but they’re both starting to worry.

And Robin’s having a tough time at work, with this annoying co-anchor chick who’s totally stealing her spotlight, and she’s still dealing with residual sadness/anger from her break up with Don, who ditched her for Chicago.

And Ted and Barney, well, they’re doing just fine — Ted with his boringness and Barney with his awesomeness — but the Lily/Marshall/Robin stories? Totally relatable, no?

To me, HIMYM is always at its best when its telling tales of things that its audience is going through or has gone through. The relatable stories coupled with the show’s humor is a winning formula for MOTHER and this week’s episode delivered that… and by humor, I’m of course talking first and foremost about ‘Marshall vs. the Machines’ which served as the soundtrack to Mr. Eriksen’s race to see Woody… a race he would eventually lose when he and Lily crossed paths and opened up to each other about their mutual fertility fears.

Robin was ultimately the winner of said race, but only because Barney — whom she called out for sucking as a friend earlier in the ep — pretended to fall and tripped Ted as they headed toward the finish line.

Why?

Because he obviously still cares for her and they’re totally going to end up together. Am I right, people?!

Talk to me…

Did you dig this episode?

LOOK: New Showtime Series Explores Big Brother and Beyond

October 8, 2010 by

Attention BIG BROTHER fans. Though your favorite experience in voyeuristic media isn’t currently in season and you can’t fall asleep to a bunch of captive housemates caught on camera and broadcast on Showtime After Dark, the network does have a new latenight viewing option for you.

Premiering this Sunday, October 10th, at midnight, is the series, LOOK, from writer-director Adam Rifkin (UNDERDOG, ZOOM, SMALL SOLDIERS). Based on the independent film that Rifkin released in 2007, the show follows several fictional storylines, all shot using surveillance cameras, cell phone cameras and webcams.

As we’re told near the beginning of the first episode, the average American is caught on camera close to 300 times a day. Because of this, plus all the tweeting, Facebooking, texting, sexting and video chatting that people are choosing to engage in, our loss of personal privacy — both voluntary and involuntary — as well as face-to-face, old fashioned interaction is explored.

Also, it’s kind of racy and fun and not bad TV fare for pre-bedtime.

Check out the trailer…

LOOK the series premieres, Sunday, Oct. 10 at midnight on Showtime.

LIFE UNEXPECTED: Lux Has a Mom Whose Name Isn’t Cate Cassidy?!

October 6, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Life Unexpected

So, the fact that Ryan wants babies, and Cate doesn’t, isn’t a huge surprise.

Didn’t really need the 27-point questionnaire from Born-Again-Virgin-Kelly to figure that out.

But, apparently, Cate and Ryan did!!

I’m sorry, how do you marry someone you’ve known for years without realizing one of you wants to be a parent six times over while the other wants to have her tubes tied?

Oh well, no matter, the problem is solved, because Cate just went ahead and pacified Ryan by telling him she’ll try to get pregnant, but then just kept taking her birth control pills, so we’ve got a win-win for her!

Smart woman!

And she also managed to make a friend out of her former enemy, the fake virgin, so again, good for Cate!

Meanwhile, the brain trust that is Baze decided to tell his poor friend, Math, to go after Ryan’s smoking hot sister, who is also their roommate! Really smart idea. We didn’t see Math getting his heart broken from a mile away at all!

But even more interesting than any of this nonsense was the return of Lux’s best gal pal, Tasha. Not only had Tasha been placed in a foster home in town, but her new mommy managed to get her into Lux’s private school. Sweet deal… we thought… until Lux rolled by T’s new digs and discovered that she knows her foster parent.

Lux bolted, leaving us to believe that Tasha’s foster mom is some sort of abusive pedophile weirdo — or maybe she’s got a live-in boyfriend who is — but at the end of the ep, we find out that the woman actually loved Lux and had wanted very badly to adopt her.

WTF?!

This all makes little sense, especially given the fact that Lux spent much of the episode plotting to get Tasha kicked out of the woman’s home — for Tasha’s own good, she claimed.

Well, mission accomplished. Tasha will be living as an emancipated teen in her own little apartment in town, which Cate and Ryan are going to co-sign for.

Cool deal for T, but I still want to know what’s up with Lux and the mystery foster lady, who referred to herself as “mom” in a letter to L-Money.

Will have to tune in again next week.

Hopefully there will be another girls basketball game.

Or not.

Love you, LUX!

ONE TREE HILL: We All Fall Down…But Then Totally Get Back Up, Gunshot Wounds or Not

October 6, 2010 by

Comments Off on ONE TREE HILL: We All Fall Down…But Then Totally Get Back Up, Gunshot Wounds or Not

I was deathly ill last Tuesday, it was pretty grim — like a scene straight out of ONE TREE HILL — so I sadly missed last week’s hour of the show.

Imagine my surprise when I tuned in last night only to see that Clay is NOT leaving this world! How he recovered from direct gunshot wounds to the chest after lying in agony with no medical attention, not discovered for more than 12 hours, I don’t know! But he did!

Oh, Mark Schwahn, you foiled us again!

And I’m not going to lie, I like me some Clay, so I’m cool with that.

I’m also cool with the fact that Nathan’s back injury is sidelining him from the NBA. He got one good year in there. He accomplished his dream. Ain’t no shame in hanging up the high tops at this point. We’re proud of you, N. Scott.

And didn’t you think it was sweet how he was sitting at Clay’s bedside, keeping the news from him whilst he recovers? And let’s not even talk about the deep cleaning of Quinn and Clay’s blood-stained bedroom.

It’s okay. Everyone’s alive. There’s a new baby on the way. All will be well.

Even with Victoria, who is conducting Clothes Over Bros business and already has her own bitch in jail!

But will COB recover now that Brooke, racked with guilt over her mother’s transgressions, is giving all their investors a refund?

Hey, if Quinn and Clay can come back from multiple gunshot wounds after bleeding out for a whole day, lying unconscious on a floor, I’m pretty sure Clothes Over Bros can rise from the ashes.

Am I right, people?

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: Unfinished Business

October 5, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, HIMYM, How I Met Your Mother

So Robin’s not yet over her ex-boyfriend Don and Ted’s not yet over the dream of being an architect.

This is what we learned from Monday’s HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.

Well, this and also that Marshall was the frontman for a funk band.

Oh, and that the tactics which Barney has used to successfully bag 236 — yep, 236 — women (ignoring, backhanded complimenting to lower confidence, bragging about the perks of his job, sustaining eye contact and creating intimacy through physical closeness) are also effective when trying to get a ‘yes’ out of Ted.

And get a yes out of Ted — to come back to Goliath National Bank, where Barney and Marshall are employed, and design the company’s new headquarters (and be ‘bro-workers’ once again) — is exactly what the Barnacle did… with Marshall’s help as a less-than-impressive wing man.

Meanwhile, on the woman-front, Robin was busy watching a channel that broadcasts Don’s new gig as a Chicago news anchor. And by “watching,” I mean that she was getting drunk and leaving him voice mails about how she was going to go to The Windy City and kill him — and maybe catch a Bears game too.

Lily wasted no time calling Robin out on her repeated bad behavior, forcing her to delete Don’s phone number from her cell phone contact list — something that we all know is super hard to do.

However, with Lily’s help, the mission was eventually accomplished — just not before Robin made a real fool of herself, courtesy of her long distance carrier. But that’s okay, because that might’ve been exactly what she needed to do to get closure on the relationship, which ended so very suddenly.

So what’s next for Robin? And what will life now be like for Ted as he makes his dream come true?

Well, there may be a few clues here.

How are you enjoying season 6 of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER so far?

Satisfied?

Starving for something that hasn’t been on the table?

Talk to me…

GOSSIP GIRL: ‘This means war, Blair’

October 5, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Gossip Girl

Well, we’re just four episodes into the GOSSIP GIRL season and Chuck’s new lady friend has already left us, thanks to Blair’s successful scheming.

Are y’all happy about this?

Is Blair happy?

Though she managed to drive Eva out of town with her tricks, the end result did not have her falling into Chuck’s arms, but beginning a war with him instead.

What’s maddening about this is that after all her efforts to rid Chuck of his European chick, he gave her the opportunity to admit it was done out of love… but she didn’t.

So the philanthropic, good boy Bass — whom Eva brought out — is now going bye bye in exchange for the bad boy we’ve always known… except now, he’s promised that his anger and rotten behavior will be directed right at Blair.

Any thoughts on this?

Is Chuck and Blair at war better than no Chuck and Blair whatsoever?

Do we maybe even look forward to watching them spar?

And what about the Dan-Serena-Nate love triangle?

Seems that storyline has come to its conclusion with Serena unable to choose between the two and deciding to wait for one dude who brings her what she gets from both Humphrey and Archibald.

Smart? Or did you want to see S settle with either Dan or Nate?

Also, am I the only one who’s way ready to have Katie Cassidy’s character bounce right out of town? I don’t know what she’s up to, but I have to say, I really don’t care… You?

HUGE Canceled

October 4, 2010 by

ABC Family has canceled HUGE.

Have to say, I’m disappointed.

The series — which followed a group of teenage girls struggling with weight issues at a summer fitness camp — was an hour of television bringing its viewers just a little something different.

I’m sure there are a lot of kids who watched the show and, for the first time, could relate to a character or two on screen. As fun as PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is, programming like HUGE is important too, and I enjoyed both this summer.

Sad to see HUGE go.

Star Nikki Blonsky tweeted the following today:

“2 all my fans who loved @#HUGE I thank u for ur support + 4 watching I love u guys and as much as u all loved Will I loved playing her!”

“To all my fans I promise I will become part of a new project and give u guys a new character to believe in and relate 2 ill never let u down.”

Thoughts?

MY GENERATION Canceled

October 4, 2010 by
Filed under My Generation, TV News

On the heels of FOX axing LONE STAR after just two airings, ABC has made MY GENERATION the second victim of the 2010 fall season.

No surprise really, given the ratings, but the jam packed Thursday time slot which MY GENERATION was occupying pretty much ensured that it would tank.

Too bad, because the concept was pretty cool. Could’ve grown into a great series.

Sad stuff for the actors, writer-producers and crew.

Did any of you even see the show?

Hanna may have been hit by a car, but she ain’t dead, folks!

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS doesn’t return until early next year, however the cast and crew are already hard at work on new episodes — this photo being evidence of that.

But we have to question if what we are seeing is real or a figment of someone’s imagination. ‘A’ at Hanna’s hospital bedside?

How could it be?

LONE STAR Canceled

LONE STAR is the first show of the 2010 fall season to be canceled.

Despite dismal ratings in its first week on the air, Fox gave LONE STAR a second shot this Monday, but to no avail, pulling just 3.2 million viewers in.

LIE TO ME will fill its spot on the schedule for now.

Other new series in trouble at the moment? NBC’s OUTLAW (4.9 million), ABC’s MY GENERATION (5.2 million) and THE WHOLE TRUTH (4.9 million).

Comments Off on EASTBOUND & DOWN, BORED TO DEATH Back Tonight

Yo, if you’re looking for a laugh (or 20) to end your weekend, please don’t forget to DVR the second season premieres of HBO’s EASTBOUND AND DOWN and BORED TO DEATH tonight.

If you watched season 1 of either, I don’t have to explain why they’re worthy of your time. Any Kenny Powers fan is clearly couch jumping with excitement today. But if you’re not yet familiar with the shows, take a look at the clips below, which will hopefully pique your interest and have you tuning in this evening.

The first is simply the season 2 trailer for EASTBOUND & DOWN, which follows the aforementioned Powers — a burned-out major league ballplayer with a big ass ego, who returned to his hometown last year and ended up teaching phys ed at his old middle school. This year, he’s apparently looking to make a comeback…

The second is a quick BORED TO DEATH clip from season 2, starring Ted Danson and Jason Schwartzman…

The premise of BORED TO DEATH is a bit more difficult to describe, so I’ll just let the cast — which also includes the amazing Zach Galifianakis (of THE HANGOVER fame) — do it…

Conversations with the Cast: Season 1 Recap

Will you watch tonight?

The second season premiere of BORED TO DEATH starts at 10 p.m. on HBO, followed by the second season premiere of EASTBOUND & DOWN at 10:30 p.m.

Be there.

LOST Star Jorge Garcia to Guest on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and We’ve Got Exclusive Details

September 24, 2010 by

LOST star Jorge Garcia — better known to you and me as Hugo “Hurley” Reyes — is hitting HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.

CBS confirms that Garcia will play a bro with unbelievably bad timing in a November episode of the comedy series and GIVE ME MY REMOTE has exclusive new details on his character, whom they’re calling Blitz.

Blitz is Ted, Marshall and Lily’s friend from college who has the uncanny ability to leave a room right before things finally get interesting. Blitz has been cursed with this regrettable phenomenon for over twelve years. When Ted goes to sleep early on the night before Thanksgiving and misses the party of a lifetime — a party that even Blitz attended — he is terrified, wondering if he is in now “the Blitz”!

How excited are you to see our boy Hurley hanging with the HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER crew?

COMMUNITY: Season 2 Starts with Betty White, a Trip to Space and a Couple Awesome Holidays

September 23, 2010 by

Scheduled opposite THE BIG BANG THEORY — a serious ratings winner — this season, COMMUNITY creator Dan Harmon is pulling out all the stops to make sure every killer episode that’s been living in his head comes to our TV screens this fall… just in case the show gets canceled.

Of course, as a huge fan of the brilliantly written sitcom, I’m betting that NBC will stick with it for some time given its creative genius and critical buzz.

Still, numbers are important too, you guys, so please watch COMMUNITY tonight. DVRs were invented so we can see both NBC’s line up and CBS’ too. Let’s take advantage of that.

As Harmon tells us in the video interview below, he’s got a lot on tap this year: “In the first six [episodes], we’re doing stuff that you shouldn’t be allowed to do in an entire season.”

There’s a space ship ep that simulates the study group going into the cosmos. There’s a half hour with Rob Corddry and Drew Carey, during which we’ll visit Jeff’s old law firm. There’s an extravagant Halloween episode, which star Gillian Jacobs (Britta) says will top last year’s ep — and, yeah, when you see Senor Chang’s costume, you’ll agree. And there’s a Christmas episode which will be completely in the animated stop-motion medium like the old Christmas classics that brought us joy as kids.

Watch the clip below to hear Harmon explain how this is all going to work and why he’s so proud of these upcoming stories.

And don’t forget to tune in tonight for Ms. Betty White as she guest stars in COMMUNITY’s season 2 premiere, playing an anthropology professor who teaches Jeff a lesson or two… something he’s sorely in need of since he made out with Annie just moments after publicly rejecting Britta last spring.

When the show returns this evening — on the first day of school — this matter will most definitely be revealed and pondered and discussed. And we’ll get to see Jeff shirtless… which is really all you needed to hear, right?

COMMUNITY season 2 premieres tonight, Thurs., Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
