MATLOCK
MATLOCK stars Emmy and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases. Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice, Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills. As Matty endeavors to establish herself in her new high-stakes world, she works alongside the firm’s younger associates – the charismatic Billy (David Del Rio) and the uber ambitious Sarah (Leah Lewis). MATLOCK is inspired by the classic television series of the same name. Premieres Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

On Monday, September 23, NBC debuts its new medical drama BRILLIANT MINDS in the plum post-THE VOICE slot.
The series follows Dr. Wolf (Zachary Quinto), a brilliant neurologist who is struggling with his own complex physical and familial issues, and his team of interns as they collectively try to help patients. MAGNUM P.I. is getting a second life…in syndication.
The charming series—which ran from 2018-2022 on CBS and 2023-2024 on NBC—will make its debut on ION TV at 7/6c on Friday, September 20. (Check here for details about how to find the channel in your market.)
For those who didn’t watch during the show’s initial five-season run, MAGNUM P.I. followed former SEAL-turned-private investigator Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) as he solved mysteries with his team: ex-MI6 agent Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks); retired Marines Rick (Zachary Knighton) and T.C. (Stephen Hill); cultural curator Kumu (Amy Hill); and Gordon Katsumoto (Tim Kang), a detective with the Honolulu Police Department.

CBS has found success in recent years by rebooting classic titles with a new twist (HAWAII FIVE-0, MAGNUM P.I., MACGYVER), and the latest on its roster is MATLOCK.
The new series (which debuts with a special sneak peek on Sunday, September 22 before making its Thursday, October 17 time slot debut) follows Kathy Bates as a gender-flipped Madeline “Matty” Matlock who reenters the workforce at a prestigious law firm. Naturally, her new colleagues are skeptical of her, so Matty has to go above and beyond to prove herself to them.
