Fall Preview: CHUCK

When computer geek Chuck Bartowski opens an email subliminally encoded with government secrets, he unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. In doing so he is catapulted into a new career as the government’s most vital secret agent. Now, the fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works as the head of the Nerd Herd at Buy More Electronics store. Instead of fighting computer viruses, he must now confront assassins and international terrorists. With the government’s most precious secrets in Chuck’s head, the John Casey of the NSA and Sarah Walker of the CIA (and also Chuck’s first date in years) come together to protect Chuck. They’ll try to keep him safe by trading in his pocket protector for a bulletproof vest. Chuck has to keep his new life with the government a secret from his best friend Morgan, his sister Ellie and her boyfriend, Captain Awesome.
CHUCK is by far my favorite new comedy of the Fall season. And next to PUSHING DAISIES, it’s my new favorite show of the Fall. This adventure comedy has been described as ALIAS meets THE OFFICE – a pretty worthy comparison as those are two of my favorite shows of all time – but I don’t disagree. It’s funny, it’s charming and pretty damn exciting. The boys will fall for Chuck’s CIA handler Sarah and the girls will be swooning over CHUCK star Zach Levi. Expect him to be this year’s John Krasinski (again, another worthy comparison). I’ve seen this pilot about 7 times now and I’m still loving it…that’s got to say something, right? We’ll be following CHUCK on GMMR so I hope you’re watching with us.

I’m totally feeling you on the Chuck love. I believe I’ve watched the pilot about 10 times, and it gets better with each viewing. Plus, as you said, Zachary Levi is very adorable!
Why oh why do you hate me nbc? I would have totally bought this show on iTunes. I have rehearsal on Mondays, and nbc’s streaming video doesn’t work well on my college campus 🙁
Also! It was just announced that Rachel Bilson will be on a multi-episode arc as Chuck’s love interest. Yay!
I was already excited about this show but now that you say it is a cross between Alias & The Office (also my two favorite shows ever) I’ve got to watch! Yeah! It sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
I just watched the pilot on Comcast and I am hooked! Looking forward to more episodes.
Hopefully I can catch this on the NBC site, because I’m a loyal HIMYM viewer 🙂
I’ve watched the pilot about 3 times already!! Dish Network has been running it the last few days. I also thought of him as very JohnKras-ish..!!!! I have high hopes for this show.
Finally saw the pilot, too and I loved it. I was already excited about the show from seeing a preview and the full pilot was excellent. I loved Zach Levi back on Less than Perfect and I think he does a great job as the lead on this show – definitely on my TV boyfriends list!
TORTURE! And I just read your comment in response to mine on the Fall TV Preview blog on the next page–I can’t get a head start. I need the pressure of a deadline. And I can assure you that as the suspense builds, so does my excitement. It’s all for the greater good!
But seriously, I am just itching to watch this show RIGHT NOW and holding out is killing me. I still think it’ll be worth it.
