Regis Phiblin hosts MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD

If you’re looking for something a little more interesting in your game shows than say, perhaps opening a suitcase, then you should definitely give CBS’s MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD a shot. Regis Philbin returns to prime time as host of this modern update of one of television’s classic game shows.

If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s easy to catch on. Contestants are paired with celebrities and the two rely on each other to give one-word clues to help their partner figure out the ‘password’. So if I were to say: ‘flat screen‘, ‘HD‘, ‘shows‘, I would hope my partner would guess ‘TV’. And I hope my partner would be Will Arnett, so Will Arnett and I would run around the studio and hug and be happy because I just won a lot of money. See? Isn’t it fun?

Tonight’s celeb contestants are Betty White and Susie Essman, and I expect both to be a lot of fun. Check out a sneak peek at tonight’s MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD.

And if you’re looking to waste time today, here’s the first full episode of the show featuring Neil Patrick Harris and Rachel Ray:

Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, June 14, 2009

Whoa…there’s certainly not a shortage of TV to watch tonight. New episodes of both reality and scripted television from which to choose.

I think the big news of the day is the return of TRUE BLOOD tonight on HBO.  I actually just finished S1 last night so I’m ready to go. I’m not quite in love with the show like I know others are but I’m coming around.  If you are a fan of TRUE BLOOD then you’ll be happy to know that Philboy of Team GMMR will be covering the show for the site this season.  I hope you’ll join in on the conversation each week with us!

A warning to TRUE BLOOD fans.  The episode description offered by HBO seems to contain a big spoiler about tonight’s episode.  Or at least I think it’s a big spoiler.  Read at your own risk.

Million Dollar Password | 8pm on CBS
Two celebrity-contestant teams compete in a word-association game, with the winning pair given the opportunity to play for a $1 million grand prize. Tonight celebrities: Jeff Garlin & Chelsea Handler [GMMR: Ok Chelsea could be hysterical.  Why do I think she’s just start cursing at the players if they don’t get it right?!]

True Blood | 9pm on HBO
“Nothing But the Blood”
SPOILER ALERT?! In the second-season premiere, the discovery of a body at Merlotte’s has the citizens of Bon Temps worried about another murderer on the loose. Meanwhile, Sookie is irked by the presence of Bill’s teen protégé, Jessica, and his role in a death in the Stackhouse family, and Jason prays for a way to pay for a retreat with an antivampire group. [GMMR: I don’t normally throw a SPOILER warning on these public episode descriptions but I was a little taken back by synopsis so I wanted give fair warning.]

Web Soup | 9pm on G4
Host Chris Hardwick looks back at the craziest viral videos and other internet-related wacky news of the week.  [GMMR: Tonight will be my first episode, but the concept sounds pretty funny.  “The Soup” but with crazy YouTube videos rather than the crazy ladies of “The View”. Done!]

Law & Order: Criminal Intent | 9pm on USA
“The Glory that was…”
Nichols and Wheeler untangle the dark politics involved in the Olympic Site Selection Committee, landing them on the world stage.

Gene Simmons Family Jewels | 9pm on A&E
Nick travels with his dad on a business trip to Memphis, and he also performs at a location where legend has it that bluesman Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil. [GMMR: I actually find this show kind of amusing.  The kids are actually grounded…and hilarious. But Gene Simmons had some rude things to say about Adam Lambert as of late so don’t expect me to promote this show that often here on GMMR.]

Hammertime | 10pm on A&E
A reality series following the life of Stanley Burrell, best known as Grammy-winning rapper MC Hammer, along with his family. In the opener, he discovers some of his lost memorabilia; goes with his son on take-your-dad-to-school day; and watches his cousin audition to be in his dance crew. [GMMR:I hope this show is legit. 2 legit 2 quit. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)]

In Plain Sight | 10pm on USA
“A Frond in Need”
When a series of murders seem to follow an ex-con witness, Mary and Marshall must figure out if the witness is the killer before another murder occurs.

Army Wives | 10pm on Lifetime
“About Face”
Denise learns that Frank may have been injured in a mission; Claudia Joy attempts to keep her family together; Roland questions his career choices; Pamela helps new Army wives adjust to life on the base.

Told ya there was a lot to choose from.  Help a sista out…let me know what YOU are going to be watching. (I know I ask everyday, but finding out what y’all are watching helps me get a better sense of what we should be covering here on GMMR)
