Once again YouTube.com brightens up my otherwise dreary day. I dare you not to smile as you watch this Dick Casablancas (Ryan Hansen) video created by raenstorm. I’ve watched it twice and I can’t stop grinning. Dick has some sweet moves![gv data=”1RmaMegw6Cw”][/gv]
And since I’m in a Dick/Ryan kind of mood, I thought I would post some of my favorite pics of Ryan from my day on the set of Veronica Mars.

Get Ready to Party Down with PARTY DOWN

Oh no…..
This day got completely away from me. Here it is quitting time and I totes forgot to remind you to check out PARTY DOWN tonight on Starz. Don’t have Starz? Well it’s a free weekend so most likely you do.
I’m a big fan of this show and not only because it was created by VERONICA MARS creator Rob Thomas or because it has so many Veronica Mars cameos that you’ll think you’ve been sent back to Neptune. Or because it’s co-written by the utterly fabulous Paul Rudd. Nope, it’s just a damn funny show.
PARTY DOWN is a one camera comedy centered around wannabe actors who are working for a catering company as they await their big break. Ken Marino plays the head honcho in charge whose life seems to revolved around catering the perfect party. His minions just care about getting paid.
I’ve seen the first few episodes, and while I wasn’t hit over the head with the funny at first, by the end of third episode I was madly in love. And believe me it had nothing to do with the full frontal of Enrico Colantoni. Oh yes, Papa Mars in all his glory. I’m telling you know because I wish someone had prepared me.
Look for more MARS friends to be partying down throughout the season include Ms. Mars herself, Kristen Bell and her one true love – Logan Echolls…um, I mean Jason Dohring. Sadly I don’t think we’ll see the two of them in the same episode, but with Ryan Hansen (who played Dick Casablancas) as a permanent cast member, I’m sure will be thinking fondly back on yesteryear.
And I suppose it’s worth saying that you can completely enjoy the show even if you’ve never seen Veronica Mars. I promise. I’m just getting caught up in nostalgia.
Check out a few clips. Come back tomorrow and tell me what you thought.
Kyle discusses the perks of the job with Henry. Find out what these are when Party Down premieres on Starz, Friday March 20th at 10:30p (E/P).
Veronica Mars: The Movie

Don’t tease me. Especially not about this.
I don’t always buy what Ausiello is selling but I sooo want to believe his report that there is talk about a possible VERONICA MARS movie. I miss Veronica…and Logan, Wallace, Mac, and especially Dick CASABLANCAS. I am still harboring bitter feelings at how the show ended. I choose to blame The CW although I guess Rob Thomas is really the one in the wrong…he did write it. But all will be forgiven if we are given a movie. Hell, it doesn’t even need to be a theatrical release, I’d take a 2-hour CW flick, a stage show…something….anything.
According to Ausiello, Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell have recently discussed the possible big screen return of our favorite PI. When asked directly about it, creator Rob Thomas said,”Kristen and I ran into each other, and we did discuss a Veronica movie.” Ausiello also reports that Thomas has had a few talks with VM executive producer Joel Silver too.
He goes on to say, “It’s very tough to focus on it right now with two pilots on my plate, but as soon as I have any free time, that’s my top priority.”
Someone get this man some free time…I am begging you.
Perhaps a dumb question given that I know all of you so well, but would anyone else be interested in a VERONICA MARS movie?
If this happens I think it will be a bit of a shocker.
Kristen Bell: From PI to Hero

The following contains spoilers pertaining to Kristen Bell’s new character on HEROES (but no other plot spoilers). Read at your own risk.
I don’t know about you, but I am more than a little excited about Kristen Bell’s HEROES debut next Monday. If you aren’t familiar with Bell from her days as the title character on VERONICA MARS then you are in for quite a treat. Kristen Bell is a special actress that has so much charisma and natural talent that she’s going to have you wrapped around her little finger in no time.
Yesterday I had the distinct pleasure to join reporters from all over the globe in a call with Kristen, and HEROES creator Tim Kring during which we discussed Kristen’s role on the hit NBC show – how she came to join the cast, a little more about her character, and just how being a hero is different than a PI. Continue on to see a sneak peek of Kristen’s HEROES debut!!
Just Another Hero…
For Kristen Bell, joining the cast of HEROES was a no brainer since she’s been a fan of the show since the premiere. It seems that Heroes was quite the watercooler conversation during her days on Veronica Mars, and our favorite heroes were also fans of the pesky PI from Neptune, CA. Having heard what a great show Heroes was to work on from long time friends Zachary Quinto (Sylar) and Hayden Pannetierre (Clarie), Bell put out feelers during last year’s Comic Con – just letting the powers that be know that she was interested…you know, in case they were wondering.
Creator Tim Kring, who was already a fan of Kristen’s work thought she would be a great fit for a character they created named Elle. But according to Kring the character has evolved from what was initially on paper, “When you cast an actor as talented as Kristen Bell then there’s a lot more that the actor can bring to the character.” But enough of the mutual admiration society over there, let’s talk about Elle. What do we know about this mystery woman? Very little. To date, most of the details have been kept under wraps, but here’s what we do know.
Just Who is Elle?
We’re going to have to wait until next week (and probably longer than that) to get the goods on Elle, but Bell and Kring let us in a little on her character saying that she’s unlike most of the heroes we’ve seen to date as she really loves and has embraced her power. Elle was raised by The Company and serves as a cautionary tale of what can happen when someone is fully aware of all her power her whole life and doesn’t just discover it on her own. As for what her power is, Bell and Kring wouldn’t confirm (although there’s been rampant speculation that Elle’s power is somehow related to electricity), but they did say that Elle is “a little messed up in the head” and has “very few boundaries”. Added Bell, [Elle] “doesn’t have the ability to decipher right from wrong” and her intense personality lends itself to Elle’s moral ambiguity. Elle is strong in her convictions and her actions and whatever she is doing she wholeheartedly thinks she’s doing the right thing. Whether she’s a hero or a villain might not be obvious at first…but is it ever?

VERONICA MARS Fans Unite for a Good Cause

VERONICA MARS may be over, but the work of its passionate fans is not. I recently received this email from fellow blogger Rae of Ramblings of a TV Whore letting me know of a new fan-driven initiative to raise money for Invisible Children, a non-profit organization featured on a recent episode of VM. Many of the cast and the crew of the show are involved in the organization, including Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) and most recently Kristen Bell (Veronica).
As you all know, several folks who were on the cast/crew of Veronica Mars are involved with the Invisible Children non-proft organization. Well, after “I Know What You’ll Do Next Summer” featured Invisible Children and the story of a former child soldier, fans were eager raise money for the organization. In the end, we decided to sell t- shirts with two designs inspired by elements of the show. $5 from every t-shirt sold goes to Invisible Children. (Our store is actually set up so that any payment checks are made out and sent directly tothe folks at Invisible Children.) The great thing is, it’s a win-win situation. Fans get to donate to a good cause but also get a little something to remember the show.

Veronica Mars Recap: There’s Got to be a Morning After Pill

Title: “There’s Got to be a Morning After Pill”
Original Airdate: February 7, 2007
Was last week’s episode of Veronica Mars so good that this one pales in comparison, or was last night’s episode just boring? “There’s Got to be a Morning After Pill” wasn’t my favorite episode of this season. I actually thought it was a little bland. Kristen Bell was perfection per usual. Dick Casablancas had some classic lines. Logan got all whiny and quippy and I loved it. But on a whole, I didn’t love the episode. Hmm.
Anyway, on to a recap of last night’s events:
Remember Bonnie? She was the Slutty McSlut that was sleeping with Dick but dating Tim “Lucky I had a bad wig” Foyle? Yeah, she’s not that memorable to me, but for some reason she seems to have more screen time than Wallace this year. Well, Bonnie had gone and got herself knocked up by either Tim or Dick (one can never be sure?). But it seems no baby will be born as someone has slipped Bonnie RU486 (aka the morning after pill) which caused her to miscarry. Bonnie enlisted Veronica’s help to find out who did this to her.

Veronica Mars is by far the funniest drama on TV today. It took me almost an hour and a half to watch the show because I had to go back and rewind because I kept laughing over dialogue. So FRAKKIN’ funny…and segue.
Tonight’s first few minutes of Veronica Mars had me in TV geek heaven as the worlds of Caprica and Neptune came crashing together. Ok, let me back up a second. So remember the guy that Wallace bought the test from earlier this year? First off, you remember Wallace, right? He’s that guy that Veronica used to be friends but who has since dropped off the planet? Yeah, Wallace. Ok so Wallace bought a test from a fellow Hearst student (Max), and now Max is back and he needs Veronica’s help.
As it goes, Max (also known as the poor man’s DuckyXDale) met the love of his life, Chelsea, at last years Comic Con. The two met at a Battlestar Galactica session and stayed up talking until the wee hours of the morning. They shared a tearful goodbye at the airport as Chelsea tells Max she left her contact information next to the bed at the hotel. When Max returned, the maids had been there and her info (including her last name) were forever lost. Ain’t that a bitch.
Veronica Mars Recap: “Show Me the Monkey”

A long time ago, we used to be friends…and then you went on a long hiatus and you were out of sight and out of mind. Sorry, but it’s the truth. It feels like forever ago when the Hearst rapist was revealed and Dean O’Dell was found dead at his desk. I knew without a doubt that I was going to be watching the Winter premiere of Veronica Mars last night, I just didn’t realize exactly how much I had missed it.
We had a few things going on in Neptune last night, so let’s discuss, shall we? Let me first start by saying that there is a reason that I have OTHER people recap shows for me here on GMMR. I suck at it. You people want a recap not a frakkin’ novel. Anyway, my apologies for the grey hair that might sprout while you ar reading my take on last night’s show.
Maybe we should start with ye old murder. Murder has become an annual event in Neptune. It’s like St. Patrick’s Day or the 4th of July, yet without the parades and drunk leprechauns. And as always, the Mars family always seems to be just a wee bit too close to the situation.
Veronica Mars Recap: “Spit and Eggs”

I can’t believe we are already here. The first mystery arc for Veronica Mars is over. Those responsible for the Hearst rapes has been revealed, and the second mystery for our little Roni is already in full swing.
Due to my concern for the safety of your eyesight and your sanity, I’m only going to recap last night’s episode in this post. But there is a LOT to discuss and I will be back later with my take on Season 3 thus far, as well as my thoughts on the rapist reveal, and the second mystery arc. But for now, I think you have enough to deal with given the length of this recap. Now you know why I leave recapping to the others. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!!

As we open, Mac and Piz are standing on the roof of a frat party looking for Veronica. They won’t find her there, she’s pretty busy running down the halls of Hearst, clearly being chased, but by whom. A hurt and bleeding Veronica collapses against Piz and Wallace’s locked dorm room door, only to look up and see….
(…a long time ago, we used to be friends)
dniwer ot reilrae ni eht yad…
Veronica’s VO is waxing poetic in the courtyard when she spies Hearst Hotties, Logan and Dick laughing. Her VO laments that it’s nice to know that Logan can still smile since she hasn’t seen it lately. Well that’s what you get for blowing off your mega-hot, mega-rich boyfriend Veronica….deal.
The three exchange some snarky quibbles before Dick drops trou and moons a truck filled with women celebrating the end of Greek life at Hearst. And no, they lost a huge opportunity here by NOT showing Dick’s naked ass.

Veronica Mars Recap: President Evil

Title: President Evil
Original Airdate: 10/31/2006
Here I was begging all of you to watch Veronica Mars last night, and of course it was, perhaps, the weakest episode of the season. Granted, a weak Veronica Mars is still better than half the nonsense on TV today, but still, I was a little bummed.
To be honest, I felt like there was just a little too much going on last night. Sometimes I just want to bust into the VM writers room wearing a shirt saying “less is more”. Why can’t they just stick with an “A” story and “B” story and be done with it? It would have made for a much better episode.
And while I’m bitching…can someone please explain to me why they bothered to add Piz, Parker, Mac and Lamb as series regulars if we aren’t going to see them week in and week out? There was so much pre-season hype about Piz, yet we’ve hardly seen him. Wallace finally has a storyline this week, albeit a weak one, but at least he made an appearance. Last week Wallace was in one scene – a scene that could have clearly been handled by an extra. Now believe me, I’m not complaining about the on screen time of Veronica, Keith and definitely not Logan, but how are we supposed to get to know these new characters if we hardly get to see them. That is all. I’m done ranting. Oh wait, no I’m not…there was NO Dick Casablancas this week. HMPH!!
I obviously needs some coffee (or Xanax) this morning to shake this cranky mood. But until then, you are going to have to deal with me.
Veronica’s trademark witty banter, that which makes Veronica Mars so fun, was almost non-existant last night. So I’ve decided that if Veronica can’t muster some good tongue-in-cheek, than neither can I. Hence, a dry recap of last night’s episode – “President Evi”
Illegal gambling is bad….
Criminal Science seems to be the only class that Veronica is taking this semester. And in today’s class, it’s Veronica’s turn to give an oral presentation. Unfortunately, Logan has nothing to do with this exercise, but oddly enough, Weevil does. Veronica is kind enough to use Weevil’s life of crime as a case study to share with her class. They go through the ins and outs of how to be a gansta, and the snobby college kids seem to get a real kick out of Weevil’s hard knocked life. Way to exploit him Veronica.

Much to Veronica’s dismay, Keith has kindly invited Logan over for a Mars family dinner. With strict instructions to stay clear of any topic that could allude to having seen Veronica naked, Logan tries to be the perfect boyfriend in front of dear old dad. Not to say dinner didn’t go well, but it probably would have gone a bit better if Veronica wasn’t so insistent with her rules of what could and couldn’t be discussed. Anyone else think this scene seemed a bit off? Keith has essentially known Logan for many, many years now, and Logan has been at Veronica’s with Keith on a few occasions, but they are playing it off like the two had never met. I guess this scene was for the newbies. But come on, we are three eps in…throw the newbies in the deep end and let them learn how to swim.
Over at Hearst, Veronica is hoping to hang with Mac, but she isn’t around. Unfortunately a still bitter Parker is. She tries to slam the door in Veronica’s face, but obviously Parker doesn’t know who she’s dealing with. Veronica explains that she didn’t realize that Parker was being raped when she came into the room that night. Had she known she would have done things differently. And since Veronica was also drugged and raped, she might have an idea of what Parker is going through right now. Veronica tells Parker that she WILL find the rapist – it’s her main priority. The two look if they are starting to make a connection when Nich, the Editor of The Hearst Free Press, shows up unexpectedly to interview Parker about her rape. It seems that Nich wants to know if Parker saw any Pi Sig brothers at the party the night she was raped.
Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls – GMMR Babble

Tuesday nights are all about the C-dub. The pairing of Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars has made this TV blogger a happy girl. And last night, both shows delivered stellar ep that had me squeeing all night.
Although we’ve got full episode recaps of both shows coming to GMMR this afternoon, I couldn’t resist not talking about them with you know. Hope you don’t mind. Think of this post as a GG and VM stream of consciouness (and by that I mean, don’t expect ANY quality writing ahead).
