The Office’s Oscar on the Kiss Heard ‘Round the World

Our friends over at MeeVee got a few minutes with Oscar Martinez who plays Oscar Nunez on my favorite show, The Office. Here’s a bit of what Oscar he had to say about locking lips with Steve Carell, MySpace, and what’s in store for him outside The Office.
What was the atmosphere like when you filmed the season premiere (The Gay Witch Hunt)? You got kissed by two men in the same episode.
Oscar: Two? Oh, that’s right, Rainn (Wilson, Dwight) got one in there at the end too. We shot that awhile ago. It was a wonderful experience. I did a couple of takes, but I didn’t know Steve (Carell) was going to kiss me. When I looked over, everyone was looking down and hiding their faces, laughing. It’s nice to be on a show where people are genuinely enjoying their work.
You obviously have some fans out there. Did you receive any special feedback about this particular episode?
Oscar: Not so much like, “Hey let’s have a parade,” but, “Hey, that’s a good episode.” And to have scenes where I interact with Steve Carrell was great. For me, it’s really cool to have scenes where I’m interacting with other people, but having scenes with Steve is really great.
Other actors on the show are on MySpace or other websites during their downtime or when the camera isn’t on them in a scene. Do you get online? What do you do?
Oscar: I’m acting as I’m working. I’m playing solitaire or reading or working on set. I’m not computer savvy. I don’t care about the MySpace thing. I still use scroll and parchment. They (the other cast members) love it, I just never got into it and probably won’t.

THE OFFICE: The Surplus
December 4, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Red rover, red rover, send Michael right over. Welcome to a alternate-reality Dunder Mifflin where Michael Scott is the world’s best boss, the most popular guy at work, and his minions want to do nothing but please him and make him happy. It’s a scary reality, and one I’m glad didn’t last the full half hour.
The “Other” Dunder Mifflin…
“The Surplus” might be remembered as the episode where Dwight and Angela got married. I, however, will choose to remember it as the ep where Pam almost prostituted herself for a new desk chair. I’m not judging – use what God gave you Ms. Beesly.
THE OFFICE Webisodes: Kevin’s Loan

Need an OFFICE fix? Yeah, me too. Well you and me, we’re in luck because the new OFFICE webisodes premiere tomorrow, July 10th on NBC.com. NBC was kind enough to send me a screener of the first four ‘sodes and I must say that I really loved them. I was a fan of the last OFFICE webisodes but this time around I think the storyline is stronger and pretty damn funny.
In “Kevin’s Loan”, Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) pursues a unique solution in an effort to pay back his looming gambling debts. Helping him (or not) along the way are Oscar (Oscar Nunez), Stanley (Leslie David Baker) and Darryl (Craig Robinson).
Here’s a sneak peek at the webisodes and then a little behind the scenes chit chat with the cast.
And may I just say…kudos to Dwight Schrute for pulling off the best prank in Dunder Mifflin history by convincing Holly that Kevin was mentally challenged. I know he’s not, but my perception of Kevin has forever changed. “This is a button.“
Upfront ’08 Memories – Meeting the Cast of THE OFFICE

As I continue to stroll down memory lane of the Upfronts ’08, there’s no way I can talk about my week without talking about getting to see the cast of my favorite show, THE OFFICE.
Yes, I was lucky enough to meet the cast last year, but it really doesn’t matter. I still get just as excited about seeing the collective group that make me laugh out loud every Thursday (ok and every Tuesday if we are talking TBS reruns). Just being near them I had this stupid smile on my face (as seen in the pictures below).
Now the weird thing about the Upfronts is that the stars are just kind of hanging out. They’re walking around and talking with friends, and such was the case with the cast of THE OFFICE. The first cast member I spotted was Oscar Nunez, who was sitting on a bench chatting it up with Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder from ‘Heroes’). That’s when the excitement kicked in. Dunder Mifflin was in the house. After seeing Oscar, it seemed everywhere I looked there was a DMer. First Mindy Kaling, then B.J. Novak. I spotted Phyllis Smith and Leslie David Baker and then the lovely Kate Flannery. Next thing you know they were all there getting settled on the big white couch.
As the cast was one of the biggest draws at the event, there was a designated area where fans could take pictures. The line started 45 minutes before the cast even arrived.
The cast members in attendance were: Ed Helms, Leslie David Baker, Phyllis Smith, Rainn Wilson, Paul Lieberstein, Craig Robinson, Jenna Fischer, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Kate Flannery, John Krasinski, Creed Bratton, Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak. Steve Carell was there for the press line but he was busy rehearsing for SNL across the street. Oh and as much as I would like spinoff casting rumors, no Scott Adsit (Pete, 30 Rock) isn’t joining the cast…he just snuck in for this picture.
So here are a few pictures that I snagged that night. It’s always so surreal to be able to talk to your favorite performers up close and personal. And although it’s been said by me and countless others, the cast of THE OFFICE are genuinely nice people. Based on the smiles and laughter, they truly enjoy each other’s company, and the couldn’t have been any nicer to any of the fans who waited around for their chanced to interact with the cast of their favorite show.

TV Stars Every Which Way You Look at the NBC Upfronts

It’s going to be a bit before I’m able to upload my pictures from last night’s NBC Upfront party, but I thought I would share a few of the highlights and set the scene.
Because NBC already had revealed their 2008-09 primetime schedule a few weeks ago, they didn’t have their traditional Upfront presentation. This year it was more of a sensory experience. We entered Rockefeller Center and walked into the NBC Experience. As we made our way through we were greeted with videos, artwork and even the Deal or No Deal ladies sharing the story of next year’s primetime schedule. It was a lot to take in, but not a bad way to spend some time in line.
The next part of the experience was TV come to life. The cooks from TOP CHEF were making appetizers, Janice Dickenson from THE JANICE DICKENSON MODELING AGENCY was taking glamour shots with us as we walked through. The gladiators from AMERICAN GLADIATORS were jousting each other (and from what I hear, the party goers as well). There were a lot of fun kiosks where we could pick up buttons (a few I snagged as a future giveaway), get our pictures taken as if we were in the cast of our favorite shows (which I can’t wait to show you), and even get mini footballs signed by the NBC NFL guys (I got one for my Dad). A great time. And did I mention this was all before we entered the party? Yup.
The party itself was insane. Much more crowded than last year, but a lot more celeb sightings. It’s kind of strange to be having a drink with your friend, just chatting it up and then brushing shoulders with Christian Slater or Kyle Chandler as they walked by. Very surreal. A few of my favorite celebrity sightings:
