LOST is Found Again in the Season 4 Premiere

For those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the season four premiere of LOST, let me tell you this…you will NOT be disappointed. I just finished watching the first two episodes of the new season and to say they rocked feels like a bit of an understatement – like it’s just not doing the episodes justice. Last May’s brilliant season three finale reinvented LOST and I’m happy to say that the season four premiere picks up where it left off, telling the stories of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 and the “friends” they’ve met along the way, through flashbacks and flash forwards, each revealing one more piece to the giant puzzle that is LOST.

There wasn’t one wasted moment in the first two hours of the new season. The momentum that marked the end of last season (“We Have to go Back!”) hasn’t faltered and the audience is put in another tailspin of action and adventure, the likes of which we haven’t seen in quite some time. The frenetic and enigmatic storytelling that redefined television during the show’s first season is back, and new and old fans alike will be swept away by the tales being told.

Any LOST fan can tell you that you really can’t trust anything you see, and such is the case with the events that transpire in these first two episodes. The writers are careful not to tell us anything too specific as they count on us, the viewers at home, to formulate our own theories to be debated on blogs, message boards, podcasts and the like. This storytelling device ensures that LOST is more than just another hour long show on TV – it’s a living and breathing entity getting its sustenance from the very audience it feeds. It’s this back and forth game that has captivated audience over the past three seasons.

Those of you hoping that these first few episodes will serve to answer your every question about life on and off the island will be disappointed. While there are more than a few important revelations, the first two episodes leave us with more questions than answers. But these new questions add yet another intriguing layer to the story. And with so many questions still left unanswered, what’s a few more to add to your list? With the series finale date marked on the calendar of the show’s creators Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse, it’s almost better to stop worrying about the destination and enjoy the journey while we still can.

Out of fear that someone from ABC will drag me away and lock me in a Dharma constructed hatch for the rest of my natural life, I’m not going to be giving away any big spoilers. Actually, according to the “rules” I can’t say much of anything about anything. But I can vaguely tease….

If you would rather not know ANYTHING about the season four premiere of LOST then you might want to stop reading right about….NOW!

For those of you who just can’t wait, here are a few teasers about the first two episodes of LOST to get you stocked up for Thursday.

• We learn that at least one other person leaves the island with Jack and Kate. This person is the main focus of the first episode of season 4 and through his or her flashbacks, we get a glimpse of what happened on the island in the moments after Jack called out to Naomi’s friends on the rescue team.

• Tears will be shed (unless you have a cold, cold heart).

• Sawyer and Jack are still hot as hell.

• Longing glances and hugs are shared. But between whom?

• Someone who makes it off the island finds himself or herself back in very familiar territory.

• Speaking of familiar, don’t be surprised to see perhaps some familiar faces and/or connections to those we wouldn’t expect to see or hear about in the season premiere.

• Animals play an important role in the second episode – how are they important? Damned if I know.

• Claire still has perfect makeup and has clothes that fit her perfectly, despite the fact that she was wearing maternity clothes when the flight crashed. Perhaps one of the biggest mysteries of the island.
