New Kids on the Block to Reunite!
January 27, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Next to word that the WGA strike is over, or that John Krasinski has declared his undying love and devotion to me, the reunion of New Kids on the Block could be the best news I’ve heard in a long time.
According to People Magazine, a source says that the Boston boys are reuniting. Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood are said to be making the announcement sometime over the next few weeks. I know NKOTB isn’t for everyone, but I’m a 31 year old woman who grew up in Boston – the New Kids were my world in my teen years. I remember attending my first (of many) NKOTB concerts sporting a jean jacket covered with oversized NKOTB pins featuring Donnie and Joey Joe (my two favorites). The walls of my bedroom were covered with pics of the boys from Tiger Beat and The Big Bopper to the point that no part of the wall could be seen. Ah memories.
I’m a bit surprised to hear of the reunion. While I can imagine Joey, Jordan and Danny wanting to be involved, Jonathan has always been a reluctant member of the group (even at the height of their success) and Donnie is now a respected actor in Hollywood. But I guess everyone has their reasons, and I don’t care what they are as long as I can see the boys reunited one more time.
I have no clue what this reunion will be. A one time concert? A new album? But no matter what I’m there!
(Just to show that the New Kids on the Block love has never quite gone away, here’s a pic of our NKOTB decorated room from a house we rented in Chatham, MA…two years ago. And yes, Kim would be sporting an authentic NKOTB tour jacket.)

I love it! I always get a kick out of hearing New Kids songs on my XM radio. My wall was covered with New Kids garb as a kid as well.
I am soooo excited about this! Will be digging my No More Games tour t-shirt out of storage. Plus, I can afford to buy my own tickets now and don’t need to have my parents give me a ride to the arena much less go in with me.
And yes, I still own those posters too. But can you please refer to him as Joe and not Joey? That whole “Joey” switch in the late ’90s bugged me.
The teeny in me is jumping up and down with joy. You couldn’t see the walls of my room because they were covered with Teen Beat and Bop New Kids posters. I also had that big Joey poster and a big pin. Ah the good ol’ days!!
SOOOOOOO excited!!! I got to meet Joey last year, he was on a press tour for his new album, and he was quite possibly one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He sang “Please Don’t Go Girl” and the 10 year old in me almost fainted. NKOTB 4Life!
So funny! I just commented to my husband yesterday that Radio Disney has been playing a ton of NKOTB and that my 7-year-old daughter has been singing “The Right Stuff” for a couple of weeks now. I wondered if this was a pre-reunion marketing launch. Kind of genius to get the kids of their old fans into them. We Gen Xers will do anything for our kids. 🙂
Of course, I now feel so, so old that I saw these guys in concert nearly 20 years ago.

You are going to haunt me with that photo FOREVER. And yes, I was the lucky winner of the NKOTB tour jacket courtesy of the Big Bopper!, not to be confused with Bop! or Teen Beat…
I think that this is exciting that the New Kids on the Block are reuniting! They made some good pop songs in their time. That tour will sell out in record time! I hope that they record some new music soon. I imagine them doing songs with the hottest producers/ musicians in music and they would sound great. I’d love to hear Jordan Knight’s fine falsetto voice again with the group. I’m sure that they’re going to put out a BIG, massive live show with lots of pyrotechnics, lights, fireworks. They’re going to bring all kinds of surprises to their fans!!! Good luck fellows!!!!

Love the poster. I remember it very well 😉
And yes, I know the difference between Big Bopper, Bop, Teen Beat and the like. I had all three…lol. Also had my wall decked out w/NKOTB posters. They were my world as well-I worshipped the ground they walked on 🙂
Unfortunately, I’ve thrown out almost all of my stuff 🙁 With the exception of my tour books which I couldn’t bring myself to throw away-Hangin’ Tough & Magic Summer. Missed the ‘No More Games’ tour.
The best part? I am now at the age where I can go to their concert W/OUT parental permission 😛 God! I remember the row I had w/the folks just to go to ‘Magic Summer’ that year.
