The Office Cast Gets their Swag On

All this time you thought awards season was about the recognition for good work and the little statues they give you. P’shaw…it’s all about the swag baby. In the days leading up to awards shows, the stars are invited to gift and luxury suites and are pampered with luxuries us average blokes could only imagine. From manis and pedis, to spa days, to so many free clothes and products one might think these people didn’t have enough money to pay for it all in the first place. Ah, to be a celeb.
What it comes down to is publicity. The companies behind the swag give away the goods in hopes that the star will be seen with them or talk about them and help sell the product for them. Sounds like a pretty frakkin’ good trade off to me.
Anyway, our friends over at The Office are now in the big time, and they get invited to all these fun events. I couldn’t help but share some of the great pics of the cast of “The Office” and their swag.
Best of luck to The Office…here’s to hoping you take home Best Comedy!!

BURBANK, Calif. November 6, 2006 NBC’s Emmy-winning comedy “The Office” (Thursdays, 8:30 9:00pm ET/PT) will offer fans a first-ever, web-exclusive “producer’s cut” on November 9th. The episode will include additional scenes and extra footage not shown in the broadcast version. Viewers can log onto NBC.com at 9:00pm (PT) on November 9th to see the web-exclusive event.
The announcement was made today by Vivi Zigler, executive vice president NBC digital entertainment and new media.
“This is a first-of-its-kind and a real bonus for fans of ‘The Office,'” said Zigler. “It’s also a natural for this show which has continually pushed the envelope in the digital landscape. We’re seeing an incredible audience reaction to the evolving digital extensions of our programming and anticipate this being one of their favorites.”
In the pivotal November 9th episode, Jan (Melora Hardin) tells Michael (Steve Carell) that the Scranton Branch will be shutting down and Michael strives to keep his staff’s spirits up. Meanwhile, everyone privately begins to envision how their lives will change in the aftermath. Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, David Denman, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, Paul Lieberstein and Mindy Kaling also star, and Ed Helms (“The Daily Show”), Rashida Jones (“Wanted”) and Charles Esten (“Whose Line Is It Anyway?”) guest-star.

In a press release issued today, NBC has announced that the season finale of The Office will in fact be Supersized!! Looks like our efforts paid off. I’m sure this has much more to do with the quality writing and superb acting than our little petition, but either way this is fantastic news!!
So what does this mean? I know that we were really hoping for a truly supersized season finale, as in one hour, but I’ll take what I can get. The show will be an extra ten minutes long, running from 9:20-10pm on Thursday, May 11th.
Did you know that the season finale was written by Steve Carell? Guess he really wet his chops writing the screenplay for Threat level Midnight. Check out the press release about the finale as well as a brief episode description (contains minor spoilers):
IN SUPER-SIZED SEASON FINALE WRITTEN BY SERIES STAR STEVE CARELL, ‘OFFICE’ MATES LET IT ROLL — In the super-sized season finale, Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) and the Dunder Mifflin crew hold a “Casino Night” for charity in their warehouse — and take some big gambles. Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith, Melora Hardin and David Denham also star. The episode was written by series star Steve Carell.
Thanks to everyone that took the time to sign the Supersize The Office petition. If nothing else, it was was great for the writers, producers and actors to see how much their fans appreciate them.
A special thanks to James from Northern Attack for taking my little idea and making it happen. You rock!! Thanks also to Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey & Brian Baumgartner for supporting our efforts and directing people to the petition. Love you guys!!!

This is the best damn news I have heard all week. Looks like we are going to get a little Summer love from the folks at The Office. I’m such a HUGE fan of the Dunder Mifflin Accounting Staff, and I’m glad to see they are getting the recognition they deserve. Congrats to all of them…especially my MySpace friends Brian Baumgartner and Angela Kinsey, who have always been kind to Give Me My Remote.
