BONES’ John Francis Daley: Thursday’s Episode Brings Booth & Brennan One Step Closer to Coupledom

On Thursday’s episode of BONES, a blizzard hits D.C., trapping Booth and Brennan in an elevator as they attempt to move stadium seats into his apartment. Luckily for fans, Sweets is on the other side of the doors and he thinks this could be the perfect time to get the duo really talking again.
I caught up with John Francis Daley (Sweets) at the PaleyFest reunion of FREAKS & GEEKS/UNDECLARED, and he shared what he thinks of Sweets’ role in the B&B relationship and what kind of progress they make in Thursday’s episode…

PaleyFest got a double-dose of Judd Apatow Saturday night, as the short-lived shows UNDECLARED and FREAKS & GEEKS were honored. (Apatow created the former and executive produced the latter.)
The night was split into two parts with the first portion being devoted to Fox’s UNDECLARED. PaleyFest attendees screened “Eric Visits Again,” before Apatow conducted a panel featuring series stars Jay Baruchel (Steven), Monica Keena (Rachel), Carla Gallo (Lizzie), Timm Sharp (Marshall), Christina Payano (Tina), Seth Rogen (Ron), Jarrett Grode (Perry), Kevin Rankin (Lucien), Jason Segel (Eric), Amy Poehler (Hillary), Kyle Gass (Eugene) and David Krumholtz (Greg).

With BONES nearing the halfway point of season six, things are starting to come together, aren’t they? The multi-episode sniper arc kicked off last week with a fantastic episode. Cam’s love life will once again be front-and-center. And there are some really fun upcoming cases headed our way.
I chatted with BONES creator Hart Hanson about returning guest stars, which family member might soon be showing up for Hodgins, the fate of the squinterns, Daisy-Sweets and Avalon’s mystery piece of information…
Q&A with BONES Star Emily Deschanel

[GMMR: BONES extraordinaire, Seeleybaby, recently participated in a conference call with BONES star Emily Deschanel. Unfortunately there were a lot of people on the call (and some reporters asked more than one question (I hate that) and Emily had to run before Seeleybaby got to ask any questions, but here’s the full transcript so all of you can enjoy!]
WARNING: There are spoilers right from the start so don’t read if you are 100% spoiler free.
Matt Mitovich (TV Guide): Is a small part of Emily, is she kind of waiting for Bones and Booth to get into bed, so that question can be ‘put to bed?
ED: (laughs) Well, happily, for Emily, that’s already happened. People just haven’t seen it yet. Yeah, that is probably the most common question either by either people on the street, or people interviewing me. SO, it’s great to tell people that it’s happening, I guess on May 14th. We already shot that; it should be surprising, and good, and well, I guess it’s not surprising for people to know it’s happening, but the WAY it happens is surprising.
MM, follow up: Will anything with regards to the way it happens, will that spawn a whole new question that people are going to bombard you with from now on?
ED: Um, yes, I’m sure. (laughs). But I can’t really talk about that part.
MM: And what can you say about the dynamic with Booth’s brother, for when he returns, what can you say about that?
ED: Well, I can’t really talk about…what can I say about his role? Um…let’s just say that his feelings for Brennan haven’t really died, and so, there’s some dynamic there. A little bit of a love triangle that happens.
MM: Okay, but…her feelings for him? Those have kind of been doused?
ED: Um…we’ll see (teasing and very hesitant in tone)
——
Joshua Maloney with Niagara frontier Publications: I really enjoy your character, let me say, first of all.
ED: Oh, thank you!
BONES: The Cinderella in the Cardboard

Gosh, Daisy is annoying. She just is. Sweets can do better I think. Even though her character is kind of funny, and Carla Gallo is divine as an actress, I still cringe every time she is on screen. It was almost enough to distract me from the MOST DISGUSTING CORPSE in BONES history. Dis. Gusting.
But the best part is the news that Booth only gives guys hugs to Brennan, not to actual guys. Good stuff.
The Case:
The outline of a woman’s body is imprinted on some large cardboard slabs, causing some to believe it’s a religious sign. Thankfully (?), it’s actually the body of a young woman. And also thankfully, Brennan and Booth’s bickering on religion shifts into bickering on relationships right away. And we get to the crux of the case, the woman was engaged but also involved in an online dating service. Until she died. Oh, it was so disgusting, that body, and for one of the first times in history, I thought the writers were a little cruel towards the corpse. Usually there’s a respect there, but I could have done without all the pizza references from Wendell. Speaking of…
The Squints:
Wendell: I thought he was kind of weird this episode. I’m glad he was less “Jenny from the block” than normal, but still, he just was way over the top on some parts. The post-it stuff was funny, pizza=not funny.
Cam: Still no mention of Michelle this week, unless I missed it. So I guess we’ll all just pretend that never happened? Or….
BONES: The Skull in the Sculpture

Holler back, Bones fans!
It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? I’ve missed our talks, and even more than that, I’ve missed new BONES episodes. I have a lot to say about this week’s episode, so as Sweets probably said to Daisy, let’s get it on!
The Case:
This case, and the whole episode actually, felt very ‘season one’ to me, in a ‘where is my bear poop’ kind of way (which is a good thing). Motives were plentiful, as well as suspects, which is always good. We’ve seen the two drunk/stoned/whatever guys find a dead body already this year, but…maybe that’s how dead bodies are found everyday, and I don’t know it.
I didn’t like how toward the end when Brennan ‘figured out’ who the murderess was because of the skin discoloration. Um, once that was mentioned, I think we pretty much all knew what was up.

BONES: Stephen Nathan Offers a Few More Season 10 Teases
August 1, 2014 by Marisa Roffman

In case you missed the memo, BONES boss Stephen Nathan is a very, very good tease.
After the season 9 finale, Nathan gave a great (and lengthy) preview about what was in store when season 10 kicked off. And then when I spoke with him (and executive producer Jonathan Collier) a few weeks ago at the Fox TCA party, he was able to tease nearly half a season worth of cases.
So, when it came time to chat with Nathan again before the BONES Comic-Con panel, it should be no surprise he was able to drop a few more juicy teases about what’s in store for the upcoming season, including whether a real-life pregnancy would find its way on to the show…
BONES: Hart Hanson Talks Booth/Brennan, Hodgins/Angela, Cam/Arastoo, Brennan’s Mother, and More
January 28, 2013 by Marisa Roffman

There’s a lot of potential relationship drama on BONES right now.
Hodgins and Angela just lost all their money. Cam’s hiding a secret romance. Sweets and Daisy split (and will soon be reunited, professionally). The only couple who seems to be doing well is Booth and Brennan.
But will that last?
I spoke with BONES creator Hart Hanson about some of the couple drama coming up, the (re)introduction of Brennan’s mother, Sweets’ living arrangements, and more…
