VAMPIRE DIARIES is back tonight with a fresh episode, along with most of the other Thursday favorites, my friends.

I know, even with BONES and FRINGE airing reruns this week, I’m stressed about how much good stuff there is to watch.

Which shows are you going to peep live, DVR for later, or skip altogether?

This rundown may help you decide…

The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
“The Desperation Emanation”
Leonard realizes he’s the only one without a girlfriend, while Sheldon wants to get rid of his. [GMMR: Peep the promo for tonight’s ep, in which Amy (Mayim Bialik) asks Shel-bot to meet her mommy.]

The Vampire Diaries | 8pm on The CW

Bonnie (Katerina Graham) accidentally discovers new information about Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney) and shares it with Stefan (Paul Wesley), leading Damon to take matters into his own hands. [GMMR: Anyone intend to dress up as their favorite vampire this Halloween?]

$#*! My Dad Says | 8:30pm on CBS

THE OFFICE Season Premiere: ‘Nepotism’

September 24, 2010 by
Filed under The Office, The Office Recaps

When I was little, my mom used to tell me that if I ever lost something, I should go back to where I started and retrace my steps in the hopes that I’d find what I was looking for along the way. Perhaps my mom had the same talk with the writers of THE OFFICE. If so, thanks Mom!

After what was a shaky sixth season, THE OFFICE returned last night with a fantastic half hour. I’m sure it’s kind of lazy to say that the episode felt like the good ol’ days of THE OFFICE, but in the most important ways, it did.

THE OFFICE: Murder

November 13, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Office, The Office Recaps

I do declare that I read in the journal that other OFFICE fans might have enjoyed this episode a bit more than I did. I’ll have to keep this week’s discussion of THE OFFICE short or the murder to be solved may be my own.

While I have trust in the writing staff of THE OFFICE, I haven’t yet seen evidence that they really thought through this whole Jim/Michael co-management thing.  It seems like every week we see variations of the same story.  Michael does something inappropriate and/or not in the best interest of the company and Jim tries to step in steady the ship, only later to learn that there was a method to Michael’s madness.  Jim comes around. Lesson learned.

Jim: “If you’re a family stuck on a life boat in the middle of the ocean, one parent might want to just keep rowing. But if the other parent wants to play a game, it’s not because they’re crazy, it’s because they’re doing it for the kids,”

What’s the point of having Jim as a co-manager? I’m not sure we’ve seen what he brings to the table (other than looking good in a suit everyday).  Originally, it seemed like Jim would be the one to take are of the important issues, you know, like taking care of the business, while Michael would focus on things like finding Waldo. But Dunder Mifflin is falling apart and it seems that neither manager has the capacity to deal with the potential fallout. Michael lacks the maturity to deal with the situation while Jim lacks the managerial expertise.  Someone just put Oscar in charge and call it a day.

Project Supernatural
It’s my goal to be completely caught up with SUPERNATURAL by the time it returns to the air in the Fall.  It’s going to be tough, but I’ll try.  I have no doubt that I will love this show as much as others if I just give it a shot. But I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t freak me out a little.  I’m a big baby. I love don’t like scary stuff.

Tonight’s I’ll be taking on two new episodes.

Hook Man | Season 1, Episode 7
Sam and Dean help a girl whose date became a victim of the “Hook Man,” a famous urban legend that turns out to be real, in a small college town somewhere in Iowa. In order to save her and her father, the local minister, the brothers have to find the ghost’s bones so they can destroy them. One tiny problem… they’re in an unmarked grave.

Bugs | Season 1, Episode 8
Dean and Sam arrive in a town checking up a report of a mysterious death, and stop at a realtor’s open house barbecue. Sam meets the realtor’s son Matt, who is fascinated with bugs. Soon the town is invaded by swarms of deadly bugs, and there may be no way out. [GMMR: I’m dreading this episode already. I have a HUGE fear of bugs.  This is going to be a tough one for me to get through. But I’ll do it.]
