Click here for my recap/review of THE OFFICE season finale.
(WARNING! This post and its subsequent comments contain spoilers and speculation about the season finale of THE OFFICE. Read at your own risk!)
Here we are. The final Office Thursday of Season 3. It seems like just yesterday that we were all eagerly awaiting the outcome of Jim’s lovelorn confession to Pam. Had Jim moved to Stamford? Did Pam marry Roy? We got our answers but here we are nine months later and some of us are still nervous as ever as to the fate of Jim and Pam.
The questions are a bit different but my nerves are still shot. What will Jim’s reaction be to Pam’s beach day revelation? Will Jim move to NYC for the position with Corporate or will it be Michael, or even Karen? And if Karen gets the job, will she and Jim try to carry on their relationship long distance, or will he finally ‘let love in’ and be with his lobster, Pam – or will they just remain friends (no!)? And what the hell could Jan’s ‘big’ news possibly be? Oh the anticipation is killing me.
Thanks You Office Fans…
Before we get into our last Office Thursday, I wanted to say THANK YOU so much for all THE OFFICE fans that have supported Give Me My Remote lat year. I’ve personally had some incredible experiences over the past year and they are all because of your support for the show. We may talk about a lot of shows around here, but The Office fans are what keeps us going around here and I just wanted to acknowledge that…and you. So thanks again for everything.
We’ve got a ton of office gossip to get to…so let’s do this!!
We Wish You Well Jenna…
As many of you have now heard, Jenna Fischer fractured her lower back on Monday after falling down some steep stairs. She’s recovering in NYC until she is healthy enough to fly back to L.A.. The love has been pouring in and we at GMMR send our best wishes for a speedy recovery. If you’d like to send your well wishes to Jenna click here.
LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…the last one, ever??
Yes, tonight may very well be the last LIVE Office chat we have at BuddyTV.com. On Monday at the Upfronts, NBC announced that NBC.com will be hosting live Office chats during the episodes next season. Depending on how that all falls out I may or may not be hosting our Buddy TV chats next season. Also, I can’t say too much but there’s always a chance I could be involved in the new chats over at NBC.com. I’ll let you know more when I know more. But for now click here to set a reminder for tonight’s Office chat which will begin at 7:30pm est.
Tonight on The Office…
“The Job” – Special ONE HOUR episode (begins at 8/7c)
In the hour-long Season 3 finale, the desk jockeys reflect on their day of beach competitions. Meanwhile, a corporate job opening sparks competition at Dunder Mifflin, as Michael, Jim and Karen journey to New York for interviews.(Since there were no photos available for “The Job” I thought I would use one from last year’s season finale. I’m using the power of positive thinking.)
- Watch 3 clips from tonight’s episode (Yahoo!)
- John & Jenna on the red carpet with Kristin Veitch and Michael Ausiello (scrolling video list on the right)
- Kate, Phyllis, Leslie, and Craig talk with Michael Ausiello
Greg Daniels & BJ Novak Live Blog after the Show…
B.J. Novak and Executive Producer Greg Daniels will be live blogging after tonight’s east coast airing of The Office. Will they be feeling the love or fielding the hate? Either way we’ll get their take on the season and the finale right after the show. You can head over there now to start leaving comments. To be honest, these blogs are usually tough to follow, but they are a great read when they are over and done with. (Live Blog with Greg & BJ tonight)
Sooo much more Office Thursday after the jump
THE OFFICE Recap: Beach Games (aka Oh.My.God)
May 10, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under The Office, The Office Recaps
I’m not sure I’m of the right emotional state to write a proper recap of tonight’s episode of THE OFFICE, but I’ll try. I will say that I thought there were some really funny moments in tonight’s episode. Andy floating in the lake might just replace the picture of John Krasinski and I as my screensaver (yes, I thought it was that funny). But to be honest, I was so caught up with what happened in the last few minutes of the show that everything that came before is a bit of a blur. So my apologies to Greg Daniels and Jennifer Cellota – you wrote a great episode but it was all about the ending for me.
Let’s talk about what happened during Dunder Mifflin’s Beach Games, shall we?For reasons that completely bewilder me, Michael Scott gets a call from the Dunder Mifflin CFO informing him he’s being considered for a position with Corporate. His interview is next week, and he needs to come prepared with a name of a replacement for the Scranton Branch. Despite the fact that his obvious replacement would be the Assistant Regional Manager, Jim Halpert, Michael decides to hold a Survivor-esque competition to see who can be the last man standing and take over ad Regional Manager.

The last of three Office Thursdays until the end of the season. Hold me. The bright side is that from here on out we only have supersized and supersized-supersized episodes left. Yup, tonight and next week are both 40 minutes and the of course we have the hour long season finale on May 17th. If you’re an Office fan then I can only hope you’ve been crossing your fingers and toes that the rumors about NBC expanding THE OFFICE to one hour each week is true. Come on Zucker…do it…you know you want to.
I thought I would change up this week’s Office Thursday a bit. I’m kind of thinking that since every day is Office Thursday over at Office Tally you are probably caught up on most of the major Office news. So I thought maybe today we catch up on some housekeeping and then move into a little Office trivia. You game? (no pun intended)
LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…
I’m SO excited for tonight’s Office chat! Actually I can’t wait until right after the chat so I can FINALLY share some fun stories from behind-the-scenes of tonight’s episode. I hope you all can make it. Click here to set a reminder for the Office chat.
Tonight on The Office…Gmail – Inbox
“Women’s Appreciation” (SPECIAL TIME: 8:36/7:36 c)
The staffers are shocked when a flasher victimizes Phyllis. In response, Michael takes the office ladies on a women’s appreciation excursion. Meanwhile, Dwight and his nemesis, Andy (Ed Helms), team up to catch the deviant. (Watch clips from tonight’s episode)
From the desk of Meredith Palmer…
In this week’s blog, Kate takes us behind the scene of “Women’s Appreciation” and tells us why this was one of her favorite episode to shoot. She mentions something about getting to spend a lot of quality time with Steve and the ladies of Dunder Mifflin. But let’s face it – Kate loved this ep because she got to spend some quality time with Tanster and me. Right? (Kate’s Blog)
A Little Office Trivia…
No, this won’t be anywhere near as difficult as that NBC.com Office quotes game. Just a few little trivia questions to get you pumped up for tonight’s episode. If your a true Office fan then these should be cake. Leave your answers in the comments. Every correct entry will go into a random drawing and the winner will get to choose an item from the GMMR store. We’ve added some new Office-inspired stuff just this week!
- Michael once spent a productive day stressing about what to write in someone’s birthday card. Who was the card for and what was the name of the episode in which this happened?
- Name three fake diseases given to Dwight in “Health Care”.
- What were the names of all the kids that attended Dunder Mifflin’s Take Your Daughter to Work Day, and to whom did each kid belong?
- What did Michael & Jim order for lunch when they went to Hooters?
- What gift did Ryan originally get during the Yankee Swap?
- Michael & Jim performed a karaoke duet to what song?
- What was the name of the client that Jan & Michael took to Chilis?
- Jim and Pam sent Dwight’s resume to what company in “Halloween”?
- Pam and Roy were supposed to be married on what date?
- What song did Karen sing at Phyllis & Bob’s wedding?
BONUS QUESTION: How long will it be before Pam gets off her ass and declares her love to Jim who in turn dumps Karen whom we never see or hear from again? (ok, ok…I was just making sure you were paying attention)

Don’t forget that during tonight’s GREY’S ANATOMY we are going to get our first taste of PRIVATE PRACTICE, the GREY’S spin-off starring Kate Walsh (Addison) and Taye Diggs. There are other people in it too but Taye Diggs was enough to get my attention.
If you’re a fan of Betty & Henry then you should definitely be checking out UGLY BETTY tonight. If the promo (which you can see in the TV below) is any indication, we are in for some good lovin’ tonight!!
Scroll through the TV above to watch scenes and previews from tonight’s shows
My Name is Earl – Get a Real Job
When Earl lands his first real job, at an appliance store, the unseemly truths about class differences bubble to the surface. Get your hands on this week’s TV Guide for the special scratch ‘n sniff pullouts and play along with tonight’s episode.
Scrubs – My Cold Shower

It’s starting to really sink in. After tonight, we only have 3 new episodes of The Office. I’m actually getting a bit nervous. I’m not sure anything can top last season’s finale, but what if it comes close? What if I wish yet another summer away waiting for the return of the show in September? Well, I guess I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. Let’s concentrate on tonight’s all new episode!!
As always, check back throughout the day for Office Thursday updates. And if you have Office gossip of your own, please feel free to meet me at the watercooler to discuss 😉
“Let’s do this…”
LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…
So this is going to be an interesting chat for me tonight. Since I’m on the West Coast I’m going to be watching the East Coast airing of the episode on my Slingbox. So the chat it on! Most likely I’m going to be in the San Francisco airport conducting the chat from a Starbucks or something as I have to catch a flight to LA tonight, but we should be all good. I hope to see some newbies here. And I wish I had some cupcakes or jellybeans to share with the cast to get them to join us tonight…oh well. As always, I’m looking forward to watching the show with YOU. Click here to set a reminder for the Office chat.
Tonight on The Office…
“Product Recall” (8:30/7:30 c)
The office is in crisis mode after a large shipment of Dunder-Mifflin paper is accidentally sent out with an obscene watermark. Michael tries to manage the media with an impromptu press conference. Jim and Andy try to calm the high school principal who has sent out prom invites on the affected stationery.
There are some preview clips available for tonight’s episode.
- Perhaps the funniest scene of The Office: GMMR
- The TV Addict: Clip #1 & Clip #2
- Promo photos from this episode
Q&A Time with John Krasinki & Ed Helms…
In tonight’s episode, we get to see Big Tuna and Drew team up to (hopefully) save the day. The real life Jim and Andy were both featured in short Q&As this week, so I thought it was only fitting that we learn a little more about these guys.
The Q&A: John Krasinski from Entertainment WeeklyENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How does it feel to board the Shrek train?
JOHN KRASINSKI: Well, it’s a tiny little franchise that I think is really going to catch on. It’s gonna be a big deal for DreamWorks. Seriously, it’s a blast. As a kid I always wanted to be a cartoon more than anything else. And I got my chance. But you had a small voice part in Doogal, didn’t you?
Dammit! You found out. But I have a feeling that Shrek might do a little better. So what’s the deal with Lancelot?
Well, here’s what happens: Shrek is asked to be King of Far Far Away and he doesn’t want to be, so they have to go to the next closest heir, which is Fiona’s cousin Artie. But he’s a teenager, right?
He’s still in high school. It’s basically The Sword and the Stone meets Breakfast Club. And Lancelot is a jerk. He’s the jock who thinks he’s the hottest thing since fire. But you’ve always played the nice guy.
It’s all a front. I’m really a pompous ass.
Ed Helms Q&A from US Weekly
Don’t be scared by Ed Helms. Although his alter ego, Andy, just competed anger-management classes on NBC’s hit comedy The Office, off-screen, the Atlanta native plays the banjo and is a formed Daily Show contributor. The single actor, 33, debrief US.Q: So is Andy cured?
He believes he is! There was a lot of meditation, stuffed animal, scented candles and using punching bags to release tension in therapy.W: Your banjo group, The Lonesome Trio, has a cult following. Will you tour this summer?
I’m actually filming a comedy with Eddie Murphy this summer called Starship Dave. Besides, a tour is hard to schedule. We like to just get together and play.
Steve Carell Doesn’t Want to be Serious…
The Hollywood Reporter recently got to sit down with Steve Carell to ask him about his career, what it’s like to work with other great comedians like Will Ferrell and Jim Carrey, and how he juggles The Office with his burgeoning film career. And is Steve Carell ready to take the next step as an actor and do….porn? (Read more)

I’m going to be fast with today’s The Office Thursday. Well, not too fast. Not like wham bam thank you ma’am. But I do say thank you ma’am. But um…not like wham bam. Not that there’s anything wrong with wham bam…not if it’s consensual. I just have a full day of selling paper and pulling pranks that just must get done before The Office is on tonight. So let’s get to it, shall we?
UPDATE: I almost forgot…Angela Kinsey will be a guest on Late Night with David Letterman tomorrow night!! Make sure to set your TiVos. Best of luck to you Angela!!
LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…
It was like old times watching last week’s show with my peeps over at BuddyTV. We had some newbies join us and I hope that they’ll be back this week. If you’ve never watched The Office with us in the LIVE chat, come on in tonight! We’re going to get started around 8pm (EST). Click here to set a reminder for the Office chat.
Tonight on The Office…“Safety Training” (8:30/7:30c on NBC)
For safety-training day at Dunder Mifflin, Michael and Dwight attempt to expose all workplace dangers to the staff. Meanwhile, Andy (Ed Helms) returns to the office ranks after his anger-management training.
Yahoo!TV has 2 clips up for tonight’s show (view clips)
From the desk of Meredith Palmer…
This week Meredith is drunk again. Someone gets this woman to AA quick. Actually let’s hold off on that and see if we can’t get any spoilers out of her first. She already told that Jim and Pam don’t get together (well at least in this week’s episode) and that Jan has some great storylines coming up. Hey, at least that’s something. She’s got a lot more to say so make sure you check out her latest blog. (Kate’s Blog)
Rainn Wilson is a Cute Daddy…
Check out this ADORABLE photo of Rainn Wilson and his 2 1/2 year old son, Walter, from InStyle Magazine. Too cute for words. I can’t get over how different Rainn looks when he’s not sporting Dwight hair or Dwight’s glasses. I just want to squash both of them (that’s a good thing in case you were confused). Thanks to Celebrity Baby Blog for the photo.

I was debating whether or not to write an Office Thursday post as The Office isn’t on tonight, and I’m pretty busy with my real job today. But in the end, it wouldn’t really feel like Thursday without it, so what the heck…here’s a mini Office Thursday for ya. Here’s a taste of what we’re talking about today:
- Kate Flannery is blogging again, and we love it
- Jenna Fischer is naked again, and we love it
- The Dunder Mifflinites go from the small screen to the big screen
- Why is everyone talking about Rashida Jones?
- Sneak peek pics from “The Negotiation”
- The Office video of the week
- Oh and don’t forget that Rainn Wilson will be on “Ellen” tomorrow…set the TiVos
One note before we get started. I received a bunch of email from people wanting a copy of The Improper Bostonian with B.J. Novak on the cover. If you are still interested, email me at info(at)givememyremote(dot)com.
Tonight on The Office…
There’s no new episode this week. Not even a repeat or a newpeat. So what’s an Office fan to do? How about you break out your DVDs and rewatch a classic. Perhaps “Hot Girl” from S1 or “The Secret” from S2. I’m personally going to concentrate on rewatching episodes that remind me that Jim and Pam were friends once. If you’re going to watch some oldies but goodies, let us know which ones and why.
From the Desk of Meredith Palmer…
Kate Flannery is back with another TV Guide blog. This week Kate talks about some of the stuff going on in her life when she’s not on the show. You know, it’s very similar to my life actually. Going to movie premieres, having a TV show taped in my building. Getting dressed up and giving away awards. Just like my life. (Kate’s Blog)
Hollywood Press TV sat down with Kate Flannery for a 2-part on camera interview. This is great. Part 1|Part 2
Jenna Fischer Naked, Again…
Well that certainly got your attention. Talk about Fancy New Beesly. Jenna Fischer bares all but covers everything for the latest cover of Wired Magazine. I don’t know, but something tells me that they airbrushed Jenna a bit too much. It almost doesn’t even look like her. But the Wired guys know how to get our attention, I’ll give ’em that much (story and pictures at The Office LJ community)
My Day on the set of THE OFFICE (Part II)

It’s Office Thursday (late but it’s still Thursday)!!! I thought I could use our weekly Office Thursday time to share Part II “my day on the set of The Office”. During Part I, I rambled at length about how we spent our day, but what I didn’t really get into was the experience of meeting the cast. And what a thrill it was. So to that end, let’s get to it.
First off I should say that Jennie and I were invited to observe day of filming for The Office. It was a work day for the cast and crew, so despite all the access we had, it wasn’t the time to interview the cast. So I know many of you asked what type of questions I asked – but it really wasn’t about that. Maybe some other time. Sorry that I don’t have any pics of the cast without me, but a girl has to remember the day somehow, right? Feel free to click on the pics to enlarge them (and sorry but one you might have to click again once they are enlarged as they are a bit distorted after the first click). Oh, and I’m really, really sorry about how long this post is. If I were a better writer I could be more succinct – but sadly for you and I both, I’m not.
Hmm, where to begin. I guess I should start with my first cast sighting. The first time I saw a Dunder Mifflinite was actually on the monitors. Pam and Phyllis were having a little chat in the conference room. At first I was trying to place the episode in which this scene took place. It hadn’t really hit me yet that the little TVs we were watching were a direct feed from the next room where they were filming. Within a few minutes I had settled in and was watching Michael, Dwight and the ladies film a scene. And then it happened – the camera panned over and BOOM! there was Krasinski. Now I must tell you that I had convinced myself that John wasn’t going to be on set. I thought for sure he was going to be down South filming Leatherheads. But nope, there he was in all his tall and lanky glory. It didn’t suck.
Ed Helms was the first cast member that Jennie and I were able to meet and talk with. Actually over the course of the day we probably saw Ed more than anyone else in the cast. My first instinct was YEAH Andy is back, and then WOW he looks SO different than he did on The Daily Show – so much younger (must be the lack of glasses). We were chatting it up a little with Ed about his time on TDS, how happy he was by the fans immediate response to Andy, and even checked out some YouTube video of him and his band The Lonesome Trio. Ed was a really sweet guy and I’m so glad he is now a series regular on the show.

Just got home from the Museum of Television & Radio Paley Festival featuring The Office. It was a wonderful evening filled with laughs and tears. Ok, there were no tears but I was hoping to make my review a little more quotable. There were laughs though – many of them.
Upon entering the DGA I immediately spotted my first cast members as they were giving interviews in the media line. I was standing off to the side and warmly greeted by Leslie David Baker (aw, Stanley). While in the lobby I met up with some friends whom I’ve met online and those responsible for hooking me up with a ticket. I don’t know if mentioning names is cool, but you know who you are and THANK YOU!! The MTR people were trying to escort people in, but they weren’t having much luck since the cast was just inches away and everyone wanted to watch them.

I’m not sure where to begin. I know that Tuesday, February 27, 2007 will go down as one of the best days ever! By now most of you know that I was lucky enough to spend all day Tuesday on the set of my favorite TV show, The Office. It was just a fantastic day, and I’m so thankful to everyone that made it possible. So first let me start of by thanking Jennie from OfficeTally.com who worked hard to make this happen. Then to the cast, crew, producers and everyone associated with The Office who were kind enough to open the doors of Dunder Mifflin and let us in on the magic behind it all. A typical work day for you all was a real special day for Jennie and I, so thank you.
To sit down at this computer and try to capture the day is a difficult task. But knowing that it’s a day few will experience I’ll do my best to share it with you. Since I know some of you have lives and don’t have hours to spend reading this, I thought I would break it down into two sections. Today is my diary of the day. What we did, where we went, who we saw. In Part 2, I will get into all the fun moments we had with the cast. Get settled in because this is incredibly long (that’s what she said) and incredibly self indulgent as this is my one time to capture the day as it unfolded.
When Jennie and I first arrived on set, we were a little shell shocked that we were actually there. I mean, we saw the Dunder Mifflin sign but it still seemed so bizarre that we were actually headed on to the set. I was trying to take it all in while also trying not to crash the rental car into the gate. We were instructed where to park and noticed the trailers right next to us. Yeah, that’s when it started to become real.

Although we don’t get a new episode of The Office this week, we get the next bext thing…3 repeats. Yes, NBC is showing the love by airing the show multiple times tonight. Since there isn’t a new ep, we won’t be having our live ‘Office’ chat over at BuddyTV. Sorry. But don’t fret, because we will be chatting it up next week, and I can’t wait!!
There’s not a ton of Office gossip this week, but what I have is yours.
UPDATE: Mo Ryan’s got some scoop (and some minor spoilers) straight from Andy & Jan (Check it out)
Triple Decker of The Office…
“The Coup” (8:30 pm EST)
After Jan busts Michael for holding ‘Movie Monday’, Angela pushes Dwight into making a play for Michael’s job. Meanwhile, Pam internet shops and has a fashion show…fashion show…fashion show at lunch. In Stamford, Jim plays video games and gets killed in virtual reality. (Episode Highlight)
“Grief Counseling” (10:00 pm EST)
After learning that the former regional manager has tragically died (his capa was detated from his head), Michael attempts to compel an appropriate show of grief from the Dunder Mifflin staff as he searches for the right way to honor a company man. Roy helps Pam duck out of the session. And in the Stamford office, Jim and Karen go on a hunt for snacks. (Episode Highlight)
“Initiation” (10:30 pm EST)
Ryan goes out on his first sales call, but is taken aback by the odd series of challenges that Dwight puts before him along the way, including a sidetrip to the Schrute family beet farm (FEAR). Back at the office, Pam keeps a log of Michael’s activities, while trying to help him be productive. Jim & Pam talk for the first time since Casino Night. (Episode Highlight)
From the Desk of Kate Flannery…
Check out Kate’s latest TV Guide blog for more on the craziness that is awards season, the incredible ratings news about The Office, and why she and some of the other Dunder Mifflin gals were feeling like The Golden Girls while shooting an upcoming episode. (Kate’s TV Guide Blog) Trivia: Did you know that the character of Dorothy (Bea Arthur) on The Golden Girls got her last name from Office producer Kent Zbornak? True.
