While the big questions on everyone’s minds about CASTLE season 6 revolve around whether Beckett will accept Castle’s proposal and whether she will go to DC for a new job, one thing is certain: crimes are still going to need to be solved.
“We’re going to start off with a case that’s relatively high-stakes,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe told me. “We think that’s a fun way to get people reemerged into the CASTLE universe. And then we’ll have some more fun cases coming up. As you know, we like to balance the serious, the thrilling, and the fun.”
As for those lighter cases. season 6 will feature the show diving into the world of a certain late ’80s/early ’90s television show, Richard Castle having to step up in an unexpected way, and…time travel?!

After a week off, CASTLE is back this Monday with a brand new episode! And since we’re about to enter into the final five episodes of the season, I asked CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe what he could tease about the last few hours of season 5…
CASTLE: ‘Still’ Photo Preview – Beckett’s Life is at Risk!

As if poor Castle and Beckett haven’t had enough high-stakes this season, the April 22nd episode, “Still,” could be the most dangerous hour yet: Beckett gets way too close to a bomb.
“[It’s] an emotionally charged episode,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe told me last month. “In the process of doing an investigation into a bombing, Beckett triggers a bomb and is put in a position where she can’t move or the bomb is going to go off. It’s a high-stakes, high-tension episode.”

CASTLE Episode 100: Andrew Marlowe Reflects on the Show’s Early Years and Teases ‘The Lives of Others’

A little over four years ago, a ruggedly handsome fiction writer named Richard Castle found a muse in the form of a kick-ass — yet vulnerable — NYPD detective Kate Beckett. Sparks flew, he pulled some strings with his buddy (the mayor), and he got permission to follow her around for the foreseeable future…as research for a book, naturally.
Now, CASTLE is just a few days away from celebrating a massive milestone: episode 100. In the past 99 episodes, there has been love (Castle/Beckett), loss (RIP, Montgomery), weddings (Ryan/Jenny), hookups (Lanie/Esposito), closure (Beckett’s mother murder case), and so much more.
To reflect a little bit on how far the series has come, I spoke with CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe about his memories of the show’s early years, important moments, and the special 100th hour…
CASTLE: Andrew Marlowe on Ryan’s Baby News, Plus a Tease for ‘Still’

CASTLE viewers got a little bit more insight into Ryan’s backstory in Monday night’s episode, “The Wild Rover,” but the ending also provided a little glimpse into what his future holds: his wife, Jenny, is pregnant! But given that this is an ensemble show — and that Ryan and Jenny’s relationship is the most committed one the series currently has — I was curious what impact the upcoming addition would have on the expectant parents and Ryan’s coworkers.
“We’re trying to figure it out,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe told me. “When people find out they’re pregnant, they don’t tell people right away. They’re in that nervous-anxious period where they’re waiting to get to the three months [of the pregnancy, when it’s generally safer]. Most of that stuff is going to be unfolding next season, assuming all goes well and we’re granted a next season.”
However, Marlowe could tease a little bit about the upcoming “bonus” episode, “Still,” which CASTLE star Seamus Dever (Ryan) had previously hinted was “going to look a little bit different.”

It’s hard to believe, but CASTLE is reaching the 100th episode milestone on April 1st.
“What I wanted for the 100th episode was a real classic, fun, bouncy, CASTLE episode, with some great Castle-Beckett stuff in it,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe teased earlier this year. “Something that’s really a quintessential example of what we do here. That’s really what I’m aiming for. We’re going to be hitting some big notes towards the end of the season and I didn’t want to steal any thunder from that. So what I’m hoping for is an episode the fans just love for all the reasons they love CASTLE.”

CASTLE: Andrew Marlowe Teases ‘Scared to Death’

CASTLE’s last few episodes were pretty intense — before the mini-hiatus, the series aired a two-parter where Alexis was kidnapped and Castle’s father was finally introduced — but when the series returns tonight, things are a bit lighter.
“We’ve got a great, fun case where it looks like our killer has killed somebody from beyond the grave,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe teased. “And in a RING-like twist, there is a haunted video, which Castle winds up watching, and he ends up convinced he’s dying. So the clock’s ticking on him, [thinking] he has 48 hours to live, and trying to cross items off his bucket list.”
Of course, not everyone is as convinced of Castle’s upcoming demise as he is.

Things have gotten pretty intense on CASTLE: not only has Alexis been kidnapped, but she’s being held in Paris. And as if Rick hasn’t had enough family drama, his long-missing father comes back into the picture in tomorrow night’s episode, “Hunt.”
I spoke with CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe about Castle’s dad, why the time was right to introduce him now, and more…
CASTLE: Andrew Marlowe on the ‘Personal Stakes’ in the Two-Parter, and More

CASTLE’s annual two-part arc kicks off on Monday, and instead of things being deadly on a grand scale, the stakes are much more personal for Castle — his daughter, Alexis, has been kidnapped.
I spoke with CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe about taking this step (and why they could only do it once), how everyone else will be reacting to the close-to-home case, the future of 3XK on the show, whether Beckett might say “I love you soon,” and more…
CASTLE: Andrew Marlowe Previews ‘Reality Star Struck’

It’s Valentine’s Day on CASTLE, and the pressure is on for this holiday to go a little bit better than the last one Castle and Beckett spent together.
“There certainly are shenanigans, especially because the episode is told against the backdrop of reality TV this time…where we have a murder of one of the cast members of [fictional series] THE WIVES OF WALL STREET,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe teased. “When their husbands flamed out on Wall Street, these women had to get busy taking over. And one of their members has been killed. And that larger than life investigation and the fun of that investigation serves a backdrop for Castle and Beckett as it closes in on Valentine’s Day, and each is trying to figure out what the other one got them. But of course, Castle’s Valentine’s Day plans for Beckett go awry, and he’s left scrambling, trying to salvage the situation…Certainly what’s fun about it is Beckett doesn’t have Castle’s kind of money. So what’s she going to get him?”

Last time I spoke with CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe, he admitted he was “just starting to think about” the upcoming episode 100 (which is set to air in spring). So when he and I chatted earlier today — and since he and his wife/fellow writer Terri Edda Miller are currently hard at work on the episode — I couldn’t resist digging to see what they had landed on for the big milestone.
