ARROW: Marc Guggenheim and David Ramsey Preview ‘Suicide Squad’

Comments Off on ARROW: Marc Guggenheim and David Ramsey Preview ‘Suicide Squad’
ARROW is bringing viewers a bit of a different episode with tonight’s (awesome) new hour: Diggle takes center stage as he has to team up with the Suicide Squad.
“You know, it’s funny, we get asked the question a lot: how long have we known we were going to do the Suicide Squad?” ARROW executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained to reporters earlier this week. “And the truth is, it happened so organically, that I don’t have a memory [of the specifics]. For us, what happened was the year started — as year one did — with DC providing us with a list of characters who were available, and who they would like to see on the show. We went through it, and one of the characters was Bronze Tiger. We thought that was a character we could very organically ARROW-fy. And it seemed to make sense to us. But we had to wait for the right time…we find the right story to fit the character. And as it happened, we ended up doing it sooner than we expected, which was the second episode of season 2. And then we started to talk, well, we have Amanda Waller happening in episode 6, and we had A.R.G.U.S. last year, and we had Deadshot last year, so that gives us two members of the Suicide Squad — three, if you count Amanda — and we started whispering the words to each other: ‘Suicide Squad. Wouldn’t that be fun to get to?’ And then it just sort of happened very organically.”
ARROW Set to Introduce Two More THE FLASH Characters in Episode 19

Comments Off on ARROW Set to Introduce Two More THE FLASH Characters in Episode 19
When Barry Allen was introduced into the ARROW world, the original plan was for the character to have a small arc at the end of 2013 and then a proper backdoor spinoff around episode 20. But then The CW opted to make THE FLASH’s pilot an official, standalone episode.
And while viewers will still have to wait until fall for more of Barry Allen if THE FLASH goes forward, later this season, ARROW will introduce a few new characters who will be regular fixtures on THE FLASH.

The CW has gotten an early start on renewals for its 2014-2015 season: the network has renewed SUPERNATURAL, ARROW, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE ORIGINALS, and REIGN.
“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series THE ORIGINALS paired with SUPERNATURAL, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years,” Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW said in a statement. “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is #2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with ARROW continuing to gain among young men, and REIGN growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”

We’ve seen a good amount of content from the new shows, which means my friend/vodcast partner Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) and I have fallen (hard) for some of the freshman series.
We sat down to debate the best new shows, the best new characters, the best twists/fall finales (for all shows), and, because it can’t be all happy, we also talk about the shows that disappointed us the most.

On the Set of ARROW: Some Behind-the-Scenes Photos

Comments Off on On the Set of ARROW: Some Behind-the-Scenes Photos
At the start of the television season, Warner Bros. took a group of reporters up to Vancouver to visit a bunch of sets and conduct interviews. Television sets are almost always significantly more complex — and full of fun trinkets — than ever translates to our television screens, which means there’s a ton of things on them viewers might miss or just not really pay attention to.
To bring a little bit of these sets to you, I took a bunch of photos while visiting the shows. Next up? The CW’s ARROW…
ARROW returns with new episodes on Wednesday, January 15th at 8 PM on The CW.

Top 13 TV Shows of 2013
December 23, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
As I said in my top television episodes post, there is a lot of great television on right now. And what hit me as I was compiling this list was that an incredible amount of newbies came out of the gate amazing — in fact, the differences in my list from last year to this year is a bit unreal.
Before we get to the list, the normal disclaimer: I may watch an unholy amount of television (it was probably close to 100 series this year), but I don’t watch everything. Which means, I’m still behind on JUSTIFIED, THE GOOD WIFE, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, and I still haven’t brought myself to watch GAME OF THRONES. It’s possible if they were in the mix, my list would look different. But for now, until we can invent a time-pausing machine, we’ll work with what I can watch.
These are my top shows of 2013…
Okay, I’ve had my say, now it’s your turn: is there a show you think should be on the list? Is there a show you think is too high/low ranked?
