In a season when so many shows have struggled to find an audience, The CW’s ARROW is one of the rare series that clicked immediately. In fact, it clicked so well that it was renewed for a second season in early February.
I spoke with ARROW executive producer Andrew Kreisberg before the show’s recent PaleyFest panel to find out whether the success has changed the planned arc for the series, how they were dealing with trying to balance their famous guest stars’ schedules with story needs, and more…

Comments Off on ARROW at PaleyFest: Stephen Amell on Tommy Learning the Truth, Sarah Possibly Being Alive
After ARROW’s Oliver Queen worked so hard to keep his hooded alter ego a secret from those closest to him — the only people who know the truth are Diggle and Felicity, both of whom came into his life post-island — his hand was forced in the last episode when he revealed to his long-time best friend, Tommy, that he was really The Hood.
But that doesn’t mean Oliver is exactly thrilled about what went down.
I spoke with ARROW star Stephen Amell (Oliver) before the PaleyFest panel honoring his series about what comes next for the two friends, plus what Sarah Lance potentially being alive would do to Oliver’s mindset…

And we have early renewals: The CW has given pickups to ARROW, SUPERNATURAL, and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES!
“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit ARROW and fan favorite SUPERNATURAL on Wednesday night, and the continued success of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW in a statement. “Not only do ARROW, SUPERNATURAL, and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”

The Cast of ARROW Teases ‘Betrayal’

Comments Off on The Cast of ARROW Teases ‘Betrayal’
ARROW has never been shy about pulling any storytelling punches, but it seems like tonight’s brand new episode, “Betrayal,” might be the most insane hour they’ve done yet. (Which…is saying a lot.)
I was on set for a bit of the filming of tonight’s episode, and the cast gave some good teases about what you can expect…
ARROW: Seth Gabel Previews The Count Going Toe-to-Toe With Oliver in ‘Vertigo’
January 29, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
ARROW’s Oliver has faced his fair share of villains, but with his sister, Thea, getting wrapped up in the mayhem of a new street drug, Vertigo — which caused her car crash at the end of the last episode — Mr. Queen is out to make someone pay. And if Oliver’s angry, that doesn’t bode too well for The Count, the man responsible for this dangerous drug.
I spoke with ARROW newbie Seth Gabel — whom television viewers may remember from his time as Lincoln on Fox’s FRINGE or Jeremy Darling on ABC’s DIRTY SEXY MONEY — about playing The Count (a role he’s previously called “the most fun I’ve ever had”), getting to tap into his darker side, on-screen fighting, what viewers can expect from “Vertigo,” and more…

ARROW fans will get to learn a bit more about Diggle in tonight’s brand new episode, “Trust But Verify,” when Dig’s old military buddy, Ted Gaynor (played by FARSCAPE’s Ben Browder), pops back into his life.
“You find out a lot about Diggle,” David Ramsey (Diggle) teased to reporters on set late last year. “We know Diggle has a big military background, and Ted Gaynor is one of his partners back during his military days. Diggle has to make some decisions because Ted proves to be a little more than Diggle thought. [Tonight’s hour] is a big episode for me because there’s some loyalties that perhaps aren’t as loyal we thought…We were very tight in the military. Brothers, in fact, in many ways. And those loyalties come into question in a big way.”
Causing complications? Gaynor is on Arrow’s list of people to take down.

Comments Off on ARROW Casts Alex Kingston
Just last week, ARROW executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told me, “I think we have the best guests. We have the best casts on television, and I think we have one of the best guest casts on television.”
And boy, do they ever.
A CW rep has confirmed that former ER (and DOCTOR WHO) actress Alex Kingston has signed on to recur on ARROW. She’ll first appear in episode 16 (“Dead to Rights”), which was written by Geoff Johns.
But who will she be playing?

When ARROW executive producer Andrew Kreisberg previewed Seth Gabel’s turn as The Count, he praised Gabel as being “so talented, so dynamic, so amazing.” (Gabel, for his part, called the role “the most fun I’ve ever had.”) And based on the photos for his debut episode, “Vertigo,” it’s not hard to see why both men were excited by this character.
Take a look at “Vertigo”…

ARROW is finally back!
The most addictive show to come out of the fall 2012 season took a break for the holidays, and based on the teases ARROW executive producer Andrew Kreisberg shared during out chat, it seems like it hits the ground running with tonight’s brand new episode.

Top 13 TV Shows of 2012

Once again, I need to start off my list with a caveat: I’m behind on some quality shows. So yes, there may be some amazing television not listed here, but I’m not going to pretend to love a show that gets universal praise just to do it. I love what I love and I certainly watch enough television to speak about a whole lot of shows I do watch. And heck, this list expanded twice (went from 10 shows to 12 until I ultimately settled on 13), and if I had let myself think about it more, it’s likely I could have added another two shows (or 20).
So, with that being said, here are my top 13 television shows of 2012 in descending order…
ARROW Nabs BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s James Callis
December 18, 2012 by Marisa Roffman

ARROW’s impressive streak of guest stars continues: a rep for the show confirms that former BATTLESTAR GALATICA star James Callis will appear on an upcoming episode of The CW series.
According to TVGuide.com (who was first to report the casting), Callis will play The Dodger, “an elusive international jewel thief who imposes his plans on the innocent, forcing them to carry out his crimes under duress.” That certainly won’t make Arrow his biggest fan…
ARROW returns with new episodes on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
Are you excited to see Callis on ARROW?

Seth Gabel Praises His Upcoming ARROW Role as ‘The Most Fun I’ve Ever Had’

ARROW has had no shortage of amazing guest stars in its first season, but the upcoming guest star that has me most excited is former FRINGE star Seth Gabel, who will be playing The Count. (The character is modeled on the ARROW villain Count Vertigo.)
As luck would have it, I caught up with Gabel over the weekend at an event celebrating FRINGE’s 100th episode/series finale, and he praised his time on ARROW as “the most fun I’ve ever had.”
Take a look at what he had to tease about finally playing a villain, crafting this character, and more…
