BONES Recap: ‘The Turn in the Urn’
April 1, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans! It’s time to discuss another episode, this one called “The Turn in the Urn.” And there certainly was a turn in the usual events when the case started with a presumed victim, Todd, walking (and alive) from his own home at his own funeral. Good times! There is a lot more to discuss, so let’s get to it.

BONES Recap: ‘The Carrot in the Kudzu’
March 25, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “The Carrot in the Kudzu”? I thought it was a nice blend of case and character work. And any Mary Poppins reference is good with me! There is a lot more to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘The Repo Man in the Septic Tank’

Hey BONES fans! How did you like this episode, The Repo Man in the Septic Tank? There was sewage, seduction and…a dinosaur impression. It’s true, and there is a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘The Source in the Sludge’
March 10, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans, let’s welcome the show back to Monday nights! How did you like this episode, “The Source in the Sludge,” with Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising his role as CIA agent Danny Beck? I liked it for the most part; the case was interesting with compelling suspects and a sympathetic victim, the squint interactions were plausible, and the bicker/banter/work balance for Booth and Brennan was just right. Let’s discuss!

BONES Recap: ‘The Heiress in the Hill’
February 1, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! Well, it’s time for another mini-hiatus, and if you haven’t yet heard, the show will be coming back on Monday, March 10th (more info from Marisa on that and the season 10 pick-up here). I have to say that I’ve enjoyed watching the show on Friday nights, and this episode, “The Heiress in the Hill” is up there on my list of favorites of this high quality season. Let’s discuss!
BONES Recap: ‘The Master in the Slop’
January 25, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “The Master in the Slop”? We had murder, mechanical malfunctions, a Canadian, and the possibility of Brennan, Angela and Cam becoming Calendar Girls for science. All of that and more make for a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘Big in the Philippines’
January 17, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “Big in the Philippines”? I really enjoyed it; it was a great blend of a case and the characters’ personal lives. I applaud David Boreanaz for his (once again) great directing and acting, and Emily Deschanel and Michael Grant Terry for their work as Brennan and Wendell in this episode. And any episode that ends with a B&B slow dance is good by me. There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it!
BONES Recap: ‘The Ghost in the Killer’
January 10, 2014 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans and happy 2014 to you! How did you like this episode, “The Ghost in the Killer”? To me, it felt a lot like a season premiere. There was a lot of exposition to bring people back up to speed (or perhaps introduce Pelant, etc. to new Friday viewers) and there wasn’t really a resolution to the case; instead, this episode set up an arc involving a new serial killer. Let’s discuss!
BONES Recap: ‘The Spark in the Park’
December 7, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! I hope you are having some happy holidays. As you likely know, this episode, “The Spark in the Park,” is the last new one until 2014, and I’m happy to say I enjoyed this it very much. Pardon the gymnastics reference, but first-time BONES ep writer Emily Silver and veteran director Chad Lowe nailed this episode in terms of style, content, and execution. Interestingly enough, it felt like an old episode of BONES — primarily in the way Booth acted, positively and negatively. More on that later, but first, let’s discuss the case.
BONES Recap: ‘The Mystery in the Meat’
November 23, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans! The show gave us a little trip down memory lane…at least for those of us who were served “mystery meat” in our school cafeterias. It also provided several laughs, an interesting case, drunk!Brennan, a reconciliation, and some new character interaction dynamics in the squint department. All in all, it was a fun episode, making BONES 2 for 2 on Friday nights, in my opinion.
There’s more to discuss, so let’s get right to it!
BONES Recap: ‘The Fury in the Jury’
November 15, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans, and welcome to our first Friday night discussion! Marisa and I discussed why the move to Fridays wasn’t such a bad thing (and you can read that here), and I have to say the show picked a good episode in “The Fury in the Jury” for the Friday night debut.
I really only had two main issues with this episode:
- While it’s not impossible that Brennan is an almost expert-level sketch artist of the human skeleton, as far as I know, this is the first time we’ve seen that skill of hers, making it somewhat implausible. It served the plot, and I can absolutely see where she would analyze the skeletal structures of everyone in the room when she’s bored, but I thought it was a bit of a stretch.
- It’s also not like Brennan to want to force evidence to match who she wants to be the killer. There was a dichotomy in her character when she was on the jury vs. afterward, when she wanted revenge on Kidman. I think it was a combination of her pride/guilt and wanting justice. I found it more plausible than the sketch artist thing, but still just a little bit off.
Other than that, I really liked this episode. Let’s discuss!
BONES Recap: ‘The Dude in the Dam’
November 12, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans! Here we are with our first episode of the week (don’t forget that a new episode airs THIS Friday at 8 PM!), and I’m curious to hear what you thought of “The Dude in the Dam.”
You may or may not know that the episode was written by Kathy Reichs (the real-life author of the Temperance Brennan novels) and her daughter Kerry Reichs (also an author). Ms. Reichs also wrote season five’s “The Witch in the Wardrobe,” and I think it’s great that she is still involved in the show when she can. There is a lot to discuss about this episode, so let’s get to it!
BONES Recap: ‘The Nazi on the Honeymoon’

Hey, BONES fans! Another hiatus is under our belts. How did you like this episode, “The Nazi on the Honeymoon”? It wasn’t necessarily what I expected, but in the end, I liked it pretty well. It was fun to see Booth and Brennan away from Washington D.C. Let’s discuss!
