BONES Recap: ‘The Lady on the List’
October 15, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey, BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “The Lady on the List”? I have to say I enjoyed quite a lot of it, from the beginning to the end. Sometimes the cases feel too forced in terms of being intertwined with the characters’ personal lives — but I thought this one was perfectly done, where the situation made the characters reflect. There is a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘The Sense in the Sacrifice’
October 8, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey, BONES fans! Well, a lot of times episode titles will have multiple meanings, and this episode, “The Sense in the Sacrifice,” had some interwoven plotlines…but I’m not completely ready to declare that the end(s) justified the means. In other words…did each sacrifice make sense? There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘El Carnicero en el Coche’
September 30, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans! This episode, “El Carnicero en el Coche” had a different feel to it, and I think it was a good blend of the case and the characters’ personal lives. The case was dark but had an optimistic end, which is, in my opinion, a secret to the show’s early success. This episode also now takes first place in the “grossest body ever” contest, with that “peel back the skin” move in the lab. GROSS! There’s a lot to talk about, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘The Cheat in the Retreat’
September 23, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES viewers! How did you like this episode, “The Cheat in the Retreat”? I will say that it was very cute and fun. I liked the lighthearted feel and that we saw some continuity on the B&B storyline. I also enjoyed the unique setting for the case investigation as well as most of what happened in the lab. There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Season 9 Premiere Recap: ‘The Secrets in the Proposal’
September 16, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello, BONES fans! Season 9 is here, and this premiere, “The Secret in the Proposal,” alleviated some trepidation I felt after last season’s finale’s two main conflicts of:
- Pelant on the loose after giving Booth an ultimatum to turn down Brennan’s marriage proposal (without giving her the reason) or see several people be murdered.
- Booth doing as Pelant says, leaving Brennan hurt and confused and Booth frustrated.
We saw resolution for #2, the introduction of at least one new character, some intense B&B moments, squint opinions on the state of affairs, and a case thrown in for good measure. Let’s discuss!
BONES Recap: ‘The Pathos in the Pathogens’
April 23, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “The Pathos in the Pathogens”? It was definitely intense, and I really enjoyed the way Chad Lowe directed this episode, using unique camera angles. It gave the episode a frantic air, which was in line with the case and the subsequent situation at the Jeffersonian.
BONES Recap: ‘The Party in the Pants’
April 15, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans! You know, back in season 3, I wondered if the show creators had something against mothers. After all, none of the main characters had mothers who were living that we knew of. (Except Zack, and look how that turned out! — I’m kidding, sort of) Fast forward to now, and all three main female characters have become mothers. Additionally, Booth and Brennan have both had experiences with their mothers this season. This episode, “The Party in the Pants,” featured Booth’s mother, Marianne Booth, played by Joanna Cassidy. Honestly, I dreaded this episode, because I didn’t see how this storyline could be credible, and I wanted it to be. I was pleasantly surprised by most of it, and horrified by a little bit. There is so much to discuss, so let’s get to the details.
BONES Recap: ‘The Maiden in the Mushrooms’
April 2, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans, how did you like this episode, “The Maiden in the Mushrooms”? It involved a salacious TV courtroom filled with jealousy, romance and alcohol (and that was just the judge and TV crew!), some legendary hot sauce and “Christine B. vs. Emma C.: The Tale of the Pre-School Biting Incident.” Let’s discuss!
BONES Recap: ‘The Blood From the Stones’
March 25, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES viewers, how are things? Did you like “The Blood from the Stones”? I enjoyed it very, very much — specifically Dave Thomas’ turn as documentarian Andrew Jursic, the way the ep started with Booth arriving to the crime scene where Brennan and the J-team were already working, and the sweet end scene banter between B&B. I mostly liked everything in between too, so let’s discuss!
BONES Recap: ‘The Survivor in the Soap’
March 5, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! How did you like this episode, “The Survivor in the Soap”? I enjoyed it. The case was sad and moving, and it was nice to see Booth and Brennan react to the historical war within the contexts of their own pasts. There’s more to discuss, so let’s get to it.
BONES Recap: ‘The Fact in the Fiction’
February 26, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey BONES fans, how are things? What did you think of this episode, “The Fact in the Fiction”? It featured a realistic if not somewhat predictable case, discussions of time travel, a new, abrasive, and highly intelligent intern, and an oddly emotional Sweets. There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s get right to it.
BONES Recap: ‘The Shot in the Dark’
February 11, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hey, BONES Fans! Well, here it is, the much-anticipated “Shot in the Dark” episode. Not that any of us wants Brennan to be shot, but it certainly provides for an interesting storyline. Is it bad that the idea of Brennan getting shot made me really want to see Booth all tense and angsty and Boothy? If that’s bad, I don’t want to be good. Speaking of good, let’s discuss the episode!
BONES Recap: ‘The Twist in the Plot’
January 29, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! I liked this episode, “The Twist in the Plot.” How about you? While the surroundings of the murder investigation were a little kooky, the suspects and plot never turned to cartoon characters or hijinks, which created a nice balance, and also allowed for some good character work, especially for Booth and Brennan. AND it’s nice when the case organically inspires B&B BOTH to think about their personal lives — versus one of them learning a lesson, you know? The good eps have the right balance between case/B&B personal lives, and I think this one had that balance. There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it!
BONES Recap: ‘The Corpse in the Canopy’
January 22, 2013 by Sarah Curtis
Hello BONES fans! This episode, “The Corpse in the Canopy,” was intense! And like all episodes involving Christopher Pelant, we’re left with more questions than answers. But I think the Jeffersonian team is getting to him, and hopefully he’ll soon be apprehended. Of course, a bullet wound to the face from Booth is nothing to scoff at either. A lot happened in this episode, so let’s discuss!
