CASTLE
CASTLE - "XY" - After passing the Captain's exam in the Season 7 finale, Beckett was surprised with an offer to run for State Senate. In the action packed season premiere, Castle and Beckett are adjusting to Beckett's career change, when a call from a mysterious stranger sets off an explosive chain of events. There are two sides to every story, and this unique two-parter will explore the same story from each of their perspectives, first from Castle's side as he searches for Beckett in the exciting Season 8 premiere, "XY." CASTLE: New Showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter Tease Season 8

CASTLE is undergoing a good number of changes when the show returns on September 21st.
On-screen, THE NEIGHBORS’ Toks Olagundoye has joined the ABC drama as Hayley, a security specialist; meanwhile, Penny Johnson Jerald (Gates) is off the show, and Beckett is the new captain.
Off-screen, there are some changes at play, too. Season 7 showrunner David Amann has left, as have CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe and executive producer Terri Edda Miller. Long-time CASTLE writer Terence Paul Winter is now running the series with former CASTLE writer (and recent THE FOLLOWING co-showrunner) Alexi Hawley.
And season 8 is going to be a big one for the show.
“It’s going to be a great year…we have a delightful launch, these wonderful tentpoles where things are changing and evolving,” Winter shared. “And for the whole season, we’re telling a wonderful story from beginning to end that will further the love story of Castle and Beckett.”
I spoke with Winter and Hawley about taking over showrunner responsibilities, what’s in store this season, and more…

CASTLE’s eighth season is shaking things up — in addition to Beckett taking on a new job, there are some new faces coming aboard.
But there’s still more drama to come: ABC has teased that “a call from a mysterious stranger sets off an explosive chain of events.” And what unfolds is a story that is being dubbed a “unique two-parter,” which “will explore the same story from each of their perspectives, first from Castle’s side as he searches for Beckett,” in the episode, “XY.”
Check out a few photos from the CASTLE season 8 premiere…

CASTLE Adds Sunkrish Bala in Recurring Role

CASTLE has added another new face to season 8.
A little over a week after Toks Olagundoye joined the ABC drama as a new series regular, a rep has confirmed that Sunkrish Bala (NOTES FROM THE UNDERBELLY, THE WALKING DEAD) will recur next season.
According to EW.com, Bala will play Vikram Singh, “a high-strung tech analyst with a complicated past.” (Update: A rep has confirmed Bala will make his CASTLE debut in the season 8 premiere.)
CASTLE season 8 has already undergone a sizable shift. Former series regular Penny Johnson Jerald (Gates) announced in late May she had been let go; season 7 showrunner David Amann exited (as did CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe and executive producer Terri Edda Miller), while longtime CASTLE writer Terence Paul Winter and THE FOLLOWING showrunner/former CASTLE writer Alexi Hawley were tapped to run season 8. (CASTLE leading lady, Stana Katic, however, did sign on to stay with the series post-renewal.)

CASTLE: Toks Olagundoye Joins Season 8

CASTLE is adding to its cast: THE NEIGHBORS’ Toks Olagundoye has been added as a season 8 series regular, a rep for the show has confirmed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hayley is “a quick-witted, free-spirited former Scotland Yard police officer who works as a security specialist and isn’t afraid to cross lines to get things done.”
This is just the latest change to hit CASTLE: Penny Johnson Jerald (Gates) announced in late May she had been let go; and behind-the-scenes, season 7 showrunner David Amann exited (as did CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe, and executive producer Terri Edda Miller), while longtime CASTLE writer Terence Paul Winter and THE FOLLOWING showrunner/former CASTLE writer Alexi Hawley were tapped to run season 8.
What do you think of Olagundoye’s addition?

CASTLE: Stana Katic to Return for Season 8

Comments Off on CASTLE: Stana Katic to Return for Season 8
CASTLE’s leading lady will officially be a part of season 8: Stana Katic (Beckett) has signed a deal to return for next year, ABC has confirmed. (Nathan Fillion (Castle) signed on for season 8 last month.)
Last night’s season finale featured Beckett at a crossroads as she had to decide whether she’d pursue becoming a captain or going down the path of a political career. By the end of the hour, she was undecided, so viewers will get some resolution to that story.
The upcoming season will feature some behind-the-scenes changes, however. As previously reported, current showrunner David Amann is stepping down, with long-time CASTLE writer Terence Paul Winter and former CASTLE writer/current THE FOLLOWING co-showrunner Alexi Hawley taking over as co-showrunners. Additionally, CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe and executive producer Terri Edda Miller confirmed on Twitter that they’re leaving the series. (Marlowe and Miller co-wrote last night’s excellent finale.)
Update: An ABC rep has confirmed that the supporting cast has also signed on for season 8.

Comments Off on THE FOLLOWING’s Alexi Hawley Re-Joins CASTLE as Co-Showrunner
With THE FOLLOWING ending its run on Fox, co-showrunner Alexi Hawley has already lined up his next job: he’s re-joined CASTLE for its upcoming eighth season, and he’s been promoted to co-showrunner.
Hawley — who worked on the ABC drama from 2009-2012, and penned nine episodes during that time (including the excellent hour, “Kill Shot”) — will run the show with newly-minted showrunner, Terence Paul Winter. (Current CASTLE showrunner David Amann is stepping down after one year as showrunner.)
CASTLE’s season finale airs this Monday at 10 PM on ABC.

CASTLE: Nathan Fillion Re-Signs, a Showrunner Shift Planned

If CASTLE returns for a season 8, it’ll be sans its current showrunner.
An ABC rep has confirmed that there will be a showrunner shift if the show gets renewed for an eighth season. (A decision will be announced about the show’s future in May.) David Amann, the show’s current showrunner, took over for CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe last summer.
One step in the right direction for a possible season 8? Series star Nathan Fillion (Castle) has signed a contract to return.
CASTLE airs Mondays at 10 PM on ABC.

CASTLE: David Amann Teases Death on ‘Mars,’ Castle’s Missing Time, Beckett Mythology, and More
February 20, 2015 by Marisa Roffman
CASTLE has (seemingly) said goodbye to its 3XK arc, and now it’s time for the team to get a little bit of a breather…to solve a murder on Mars.
No, the team isn’t going to space (though there are plenty of space/alien/sci-fi jokes in the hour), but the next episode, “The Wrong Stuff,” finds Castle, Beckett, and the team investigating the death of an astronaut who was training for a potential mission to Mars. (It’s as hilarious as you might expect.)
And while there are some lighter hours ahead, the show will also touch back on the mystery of Castle’s wedding day disappearance and subsequent missing months, and Beckett will try to figure out what’s next in her life.
I spoke with CASTLE boss David Amann about those things, and more…

CASTLE reached an important on-screen milestone this year as Beckett and Castle tied the knot — and Castle is now out of the precinct — but the show is also reaching an important off-screen moment as series stars Nathan Fillion (Castle) and Stana Katic (Beckett) will be renegotiating their contracts to continue on with the series beyond season 7.
