CHICAGO FIRE and CHICAGO P.D. cross over on the Wednesday, February 20 hours of the ONE CHICAGO block.
“It’s going to be a crime taking place nearby a neighboring firehouse to 51,” CHICAGO FIRE boss Derek Haas previously teased. “Some burglaries are happening where they think some firefighters from that house are involved. That brings us in, and we get involved in the beginning, and then we throw it over to PD.”
“But some of our characters are seriously involved and will go through [appearing in] the two hours,” he continued. “It’s more of a crime-centered [crossover].

Though the ONE CHICAGO universe had a three-show event early in the season, the upcoming crossovers will be a bit smaller.
CHICAGO MED boss Andrew Schneider teased that CHICAGO P.D.’s Burgess appears in episode 10, while folks from FIRE appear in episode 12. (And, of course, P.D.’s Jay has been popping up on MED a fair amount this season to help his brother, Will.)

CHICAGO FIRE underwent a number of changes in 2018, a fact that showrunner Derek Haas is all too aware of.
“We got the new time slot on Wednesday nights at 9,” he says. “And then having MED as a lead-in and PD as a lead-out has been just way beyond what anybody’s expectations were. The way our viewers embraced all three being on one night and being ONE CHICAGO. This first half of the season, I’m particularly proud of.”

CHICAGO FIRE lost one of its own in 2018, when DuShon Brown (who played Connie) passed away in March.
It left the writers with a tough task: Brown had filmed three episodes prior to her death, and there were only a handful left in the season. “I just didn’t want to do something disrespectful [to] her family, [and] our cast and crew had grown close to her,” CHICAGO FIRE executive producer Derek Haas recalled to reporters.
