The ONE CHICAGO universe has crossover over multiple times over the years—both in both big events and small moments—and in addition to making the world feel more realistic, it’s also a joy for the actors who work on the shows.
“It’s mostly excitement,” CHICAGO FIRE’s Kara Killmer (Brett) told reporters about the change in energy during the show’s crossover moments. “We are all very close. We’re all such good friends. CHICAGO FIRE lost one of its own in 2018, when DuShon Brown (who played Connie) passed away in March.
It left the writers with a tough task: Brown had filmed three episodes prior to her death, and there were only a handful left in the season. “I just didn’t want to do something disrespectful [to] her family, [and] our cast and crew had grown close to her,” CHICAGO FIRE executive producer Derek Haas recalled to reporters.
