Comments Off on CONSTANTINE: The Producers Talk About Lucy Griffiths’ Exit, Casting Angélica Celaya as Zed
CONSTANTINE underwent a bit of a shakeup this past week when it was revealed that Lucy Griffiths (Liv) was exiting the NBC series and the search was on for a new female lead.
During the show’s Television Critics Association press tour panel, CONSTANTINE executive producer Daniel Cerone admitted the character simply didn’t work when they sat down to plan their season-long arc for the show.
“Pilots are great because they’re a bit of a litmus test and you get to see what works and what doesn’t,” Cerone told reporters during the panel. “Liv is a great character, she’s very wide-eye, she’s very reactive…we felt a bit hamstrung by her [limits], frankly.”

After two weeks of Give Me My Remote readers nominating their television favorites from the past year, it’s time to vote for the 4th Annual GMMR TV Awards!
Most of the categories have five nominees, but due to ties, the number can vary. (And, as a reminder, each category can only have two nominees per show, so only the top two vote-getters from any particular series moved forward.)

One of the best parts about the Upfronts is we traditionally get our first looks at the new shows that will be populating our television screens during the upcoming season.
Of course, the trailers aren’t always an indication of how the show will turn out — great shows have had terrible trailers, and terrible shows have looked significantly better thanks to a great trailer. But for now, there are a few trailers I’m obsessing over for the new television season.

NBC has a new pilot in the works, CONSTANTINE, based on the DC Comics character, and NBC/Warner Bros./DC Entertainment released the first official shot from the pilot: series star Matt Ryan as his character, John Constantine.
If you’re not familiar with CONSTANTINE, NBC says the series “follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.”
