We’re still a few weeks away from the ONCE UPON A TIME season finale, but when series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis talked with reporters at WonderCon recently, they were super excited about “one of the favorite things” they’ve done.
Check out what they had to say about the finale — including giving fans “something they’ve always wanted, but didn’t realize” — and more…

ONCE UPON A TIME will go a little deeper into Zelena’s backstory in tonight’s brand new episode, “Bleeding Through,” as viewers learn why Cora gave up her first-born daughter, and a bit more about Zelena’s ultimate plan.
The ONCE UPON A TIME creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, along with stars Josh Dallas (Charming) and Rebecca Mader (Zelena), talked with reporters at WonderCon this weekend, and teased what’s to come in “Bleeding Through,” plus Kitsis/Horowitz previewed a bit of what’s in store for Regina/Robin Hood…
ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND: Naveen Andrews on Reuniting with Former LOST Writers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, Plus Creating a New Take on Jafar

ONCE UPON A TIME bosses (and former LOST writers) Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis have often relied on former LOST stars for guest spots (or in the case of Emilie de Ravin, a guest spot-turned-series regular gig), and with their new show, ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND, about to make its debut, they’ve called on a familiar face to be a series regular: Naveen Andrews (Sayid on LOST/Jafar on WONDERLAND)!
“Basically, it was like a ten minute meeting,” Andrews told me of how he got involved with the ONCE spinoff. “They told me they created this character, and they said, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if we got someone like Naveen to do it?’ We had worked together on LOST, and they had written one of my favorite episodes in the fifth season where Sayid is made to take LSD with interesting results [in “He’s Our You”]. And I was available, because I think when they first wrote it, I wasn’t.”
“So I went in and they said, ‘We wanted you to do it,'” he continued. “So it was literally ten minutes. Again, I felt very familiar and safe in terms of their writing. From the things they wrote in that fifth season, I knew they were willing to be daring and dangerous. I think we have a similar approach to Jafar in that sense.”
ONCE UPON A TIME: Michael Socha Cast in Spinoff Presentation

The potential ONCE UPON A TIME quasi-spinoff is starting to take shape: a representative for ABC confirms that Michael Socha has been cast as one of the leads in the upcoming pilot presentation for an Alice in Wonderland-centric spinoff.
According to Deadline (who was first to report the casting), Socha will play The Knave of Hearts, “a sardonic adventurer, a man of action, a loner and a heart-breaker” in the four-scene presentation ONCE UPON A TIME co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are working on with Jane Espenson and Zack Estrin.
There’s no definitive timetable for when we might see this potential spinoff, but if ABC likes what they see, Horowitz and Kitsis insisted earlier this month that they wouldn’t be recasting Sebastian Stan as the Mad Hatter, and the intention was for this to be a one-off, limited series type of thing.
Are you hoping we get to explore more of the Wonderland world in a potential spinoff?

ONCE UPON A TIME will be doing a whole other kind of flashback in this Sunday’s brand new episode — viewers will get to see the first week of the curse in Storybrooke. And with that flashback to the ’80s, we’ll also see the return of a familiar face in Jamie Dornan’s Sheriff Graham.
Before the recent PaleyFest panel (where they actually announced the flashback), executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased a little bit about Dornan’s return…

As you may have heard, this Sunday’s episode of ONCE UPON A TIME is pretty freaking major.
Before last weekend’s PaleyFest panel honoring the ABC series, I spoke with series stars Josh Dallas (Charming/David), Lana Parrilla (Regina/Evil Queen), Robert Carlyle (Rumple/Mr. Gold), Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow/Mary Margaret), and showrunners/co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis about what fans can expect from “The Miller’s Daughter”…
ONCE UPON A TIME: Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis Debunk Mad Hatter Spinoff Rumors

Last month, rumors swirled that ONCE UPON A TIME was looking to recast the Mad Hatter (who has been played by Sebastian Stan) with the intention of possibly spinning the character off to his own series. However, when I spoke with ONCE co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis before Sunday’s PaleyFest panel honoring their series, they denied intending to recast the Mad Hatter.
Take a look at what they had to say about their real intentions for exploring Wonderland (though it should be noted it is still very much at the idea stage of the process)…
ONCE UPON A TIME: Colin O’Donoghue and Edward Kitsis on the Appeal of Hook

ONCE UPON A TIME has introduced a whole batch of new characters since the show premiered in 2011, but few have prompted quite the reaction that Colin O’Donoghue’s Hook has.
“I’ve been on Twitter a lot and I knew they teased the character [at Comic-Con],” Donoghue told reporters on the Vancouver set late last year. “So that was a thing I was very aware of when my first episode was coming out, because obviously I knew there was an expectation there. I hope the fans aren’t disappointed with Hook and the way he’s been portrayed.”

In its two seasons, ONCE UPON A TIME has given us a fair amount of backstory for many of its characters, but tonight’s episode will more fully dive into one whom we’ve only started to really know this year — Dr. Whale/Frankenstein!
I spoke with ONCE UPON A TIME showrunner Edward Kitsis at the recent ABC winter press tour party, and he teased — with a bit of help from co-showrunner Adam Horowitz — a bit of what’s to come from Whale, Snow/Charming, the returns of Neal, the Giant, Bae, and if there’s pressure to make sure the end of season 2 ends as strongly as the first year did…
