Comments Off on FARGO: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons on Peggy and Ed’s Complicated Relationship
Peggy and Ed did a bad, bad thing in FARGO’s second season premiere.
After Peggy (played by Kirsten Dunst) accidentally hit Rye Gerhardt — who had just gone on a murder spree — with her car. And after she dragged Rye’s body home (and tried to ignore what happened), Peggy’s husband, Ed (played by Jesse Plemons), was forced to finish the job to protect them.
Outside of that, Peggy and Ed’s relationship was a bit rocky to begin with. On the show’s Calgary set, Dunst and Plemons shared some insight into their characters and that relationship… Read more
FARGO: Patrick Wilson on Taking Liberties with Lou, the Solverson’s Family Troubles

Comments Off on FARGO: Patrick Wilson on Taking Liberties with Lou, the Solverson’s Family Troubles
FARGO’s second installment is telling a unique story to what the first year of the show told, but there is one throughline: Lou Solverson, who will be played this season by Patrick Wilson. (An older version of Lou was portrayed by Keith Carradine in the first season.)
But because the events of this season impact who Lou was when viewers met him in season 1, Wilson explained the creative team thought it would be best for him to not completely emulate what Carradine had done.)
“I love Keith’s performance, but then in talking to [FARGO creator] Noah [Hawley], you also want to take your liberties where it’s a different Lou at this point,” Wilson said on the show’s Calgary set. “A lot of the events that happen in this season are what he refers to [in FARGO season 1], shaping, probably, who he is. So that gave me a little freedom to not sit there and feel like I had to mimic every character thing he had.”
Check out more from Wilson, including teases about the family issues Lou is dealing with in FARGO’s second season…
Ted Danson on FARGO Season 2: ‘All Hell is Breaking Loose’

Comments Off on Ted Danson on FARGO Season 2: ‘All Hell is Breaking Loose’
Ted Danson has become one of the busiest men on TV, as he appeared in the CSI series finale TV movie, moved over to the crime drama’s latest spinoff, CSI: CYBER, and has a starring role on FX’s FARGO.
“Now, for something completely different, which is what an actor loves; [FARGO] was very different than CSI,” Danson said on FARGO’s Calgary set this spring, before he made the transition from CSI to CSI: CYBER. “The writing is just scrumptious. It’s a great part, a great group of people.”
Danson acknowledged he had his own doubts about adapting the 1996 FARGO film into a TV series before he watched the Noah Hawley created series.
“I watched the first season, and was like, ‘Wow,'” he recalled. “What I thought was going to be, ‘Why do a TV show when you have the movie?’ was swept away after about 20 minutes. This is why you do it — there’s more to be told, and it’s delicious and wonderful.”

FARGO: Noah Hawley on the FX Drama’s Peabody Win

Comments Off on FARGO: Noah Hawley on the FX Drama’s Peabody Win
The FX drama FARGO added to its already-impressive award total this week as it was honored by 74th annual Peabody Awards as one of the top programs of the year.
“It was a total surprise,” FARGO creator Noah Hawley shared on the set of the show’s second year. “It was humbling, the amount of recognition we’ve received…It’s getting harder to make something timeless. The idea of not just a flash-in-the-pan, zeitgeist moment, some kind of cultural impact that you feel when people look back at this year, this decade, you feel you made some impact. You look at those 100 best movie list and it’s CITIZEN KANE and THE GODFATHER, and you wonder if those movies were being made today, would they be at the top of the list? We have so much material coming at us all the time; the idea we could cut through was meaningful.”

It was another great year for television, and to celebrate that, I made my list of the top shows in 2014.
As per usual, my annual disclaimer: I literally can’t watch every show, and so some shows that probably should be here (like TRANSPARENT) didn’t make the cut because I couldn’t catch up in time. (But on the bright side, I caught up on every show I name-checked last year as not being caught up on.)
So, these are my top shows of the year…

FARGO will return for a second season, FX announced during its Television Critics Association press tour day.
According to FX, the return of FARGO will “feature an all-new cast of characters, a new time period and a new ‘true crime’ story that will unfold over the course of 10 episodes.”
“We could not be more proud of Fargo,” said John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks & FX Productions in a statement. “Noah’s audacious, bordering on hubristic riff on my favorite Coen brothers film earned 18 Emmy nominations – the most for a single program in our history. Fargo was nothing short of breathtaking and we look forward to the next installment.”
