When THE STAND executive producer Benjamin Cavell set out to adapt Stephen King’s iconic novel by the same name, he had a lot to work with.
First released in 1978, there was also an expanded version of the story released in 1990. (There was also a 1994 miniseries and a mid-2000s graphic novel.)

CBS All Access debuted the official trailer for its limited series adaptation of THE STAND during he show’s New York Comic Con panel.
THE STAND, CBS All Access previews, is “Stephen King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård), the Dark Man.”
