Comments Off on BONES: Hart Hanson on Why Episode 206 Will Just Be a ‘Good, Solid’ Hour
This Thursday, BONES will be celebrating a special hour: episode 206 is not only the number of bones in the human body, but it’ll also make the series the longest running one-hour drama from the show’s studio, 20th Century Fox.
And while it’s a milestone, the hour will be fairly run-of-the-mill for logistical reasons, BONES creator Hart Hanson explained in the video below. In addition to coming very close to the show’s 200th episode massive production, the writers were also trying to balance not knowing whether they’d have to plan for a season or series finale.

Think you know the new Fox series, BACKSTROM? Well, just wait until you hear the cast and creator Hart Hanson attempt to explain it.
In the (hilarious) exclusive video below, the cast — Rainn Wilson, Dennis Haysbert, Genevieve Angelson, Kristoffer Polaha, Page Kennedy, Beatrice Rosen, and Thomas Dekker — and Hanson share their pitches for the show, but can’t get it quite right. There are a lot of giggles, pitches to show Wilson’s butt on network TV, some misspeaking (nope, this isn’t taking place in the “special victims unit”), a ton of poking fun at each other, and general hilarity.
Just try to watch this video and keep a straight face… Read more
BACKSTROM: Rainn Wilson Previews His New Fox Drama

Comments Off on BACKSTROM: Rainn Wilson Previews His New Fox Drama
If you are an aspiring TV writer, can I recommend first writing a novel, getting it published, and then sending it to Hart Hanson and his team with the hope he will adapt it to a TV show? This Thursday, January 22nd, marks the premiere of BACKSTROM, Hanson’s third “pulled from the bookshelves” series for Fox. The BONES and THE FINDER creator has developed a new show that pulls together a ragtag group of people setting out to make the world a little bit better — primarily by catching murderers.
Fox describes the show’s main and titular character, Everett Backstrom, as “an unhealthy, offensive, irascible — albeit brilliant — detective” played by Rainn Wilson. BACKSTROM’s 13 episode order has been filmed, and Fox sent the pilot and three additional episodes to the press. Additionally, Wilson recently participated in a conference call with several press outlets. Read on to find out what Wilson thinks are Backstrom’s best and worst qualities, how the show fits in the current landscape of society, and the difference between shooting a 60 minute procedural and a 30 minute sitcom…

BONES’ 200th episode is airing this Thursday, and as Fox Television Group Chairman and CEO Gary Newman pointed out during an on-set celebration, it’s one of only a few Fox shows to reach that incredible milestone.
To celebrate how far Team BONES has come, I asked the cast and producers for their first memories of working on the series. Check out what BONES creator Hart Hanson, executive producer Stephen Nathan, as well as stars David Boreanaz (Booth), Emily Deschanel (Brennan), Michaela Conlin (Angela), TJ Thyne (Hodgins), Tamara Taylor (Cam), John Boyd (Aubrey), Carla Gallo (Daisy), Eugene Byrd (Clark), Michael Grant Terry (Wendell), Pej Vahdat (Arastoo), Laura Spencer (Jessica), Ignacio Serricchio (Fuentes), and Cyndi Lauper (Avalon) had to share…

Check out some (excerpts) of the speeches that were given on Friday…

I spoke with SHOWRUNNERS director Des Doyle and co-producer Ryan Patrick McGuffey about the process to get the film made, what their challenges were, how this experience changed how they viewed their favorite shows, and more…
BACKSTROM: WAREHOUSE 13’s Eddie McClintock to Guest Star

WAREHOUSE 13’s Eddie McClintock is heading to the upcoming Fox series, BACKSTROM, a rep for the show confirmed.
McClintock (who first announced his casting on Twitter) will play Lieutenant Sam D’Agostino, Backstrom’s (Rainn Wilson) childhood bully. According to the studio, “When they were kids, Sam was a rotten, thieving punk, responsible for stealing from Backstrom…[and] in cahoots with his equally rotten brother. All grown up now Sam and his brother are firefighters who everyone thinks are heroic but Backstrom is convinced they’re the same worthless bits of slime they always were.”

When BONES’ ninth season concluded in May, executive producer Stephen Nathan pointed out, “We’ve never quite been in a situation that has affected these characters this much by external forces.” And when the show returns in September, Booth will be in jail, and Brennan and the rest of the Jeffersonian gang will be struggling to right the wrong of his arrest.
Now that production has officially started on BONES’ tenth season, I sat down with Nathan and executive producer Jonathan Collier to find out what they could tease about what’s to come…

BONES creator Hart Hanson has a bit of experience adapting a book series into a successful/long-running TV series, and this season, he’ll try to work that mojo again with his new show: BACKSTROM, a new Fox procedural (starring THE OFFICE’s Rainn Wilson), which is based off a book series with the same name by Leif G.W. Persson.

BONES: Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan, and Tamara Taylor Weigh in On Season 10 Possibly Being the End of the Show

BONES hasn’t officially been renewed for season 10 (yet), but Fox boss Kevin Reilly told reporters that he anticipated next year would be the last one for the long-running series.
And while fans may already be lamenting the show’s eventual end of the series, it’s bittersweet — and possibly a premature move — for the people involved with the show.
