THE GOLDBERGS returns tonight, with a special two-episode block!
If you’re counting down the minutes for the show’s return, take a look at photos from tonight’s season premiere, and an episode tease…
THE GOLDBERGS
THE GOLDBERGS - For the first time, the series' eighth season will kick off with an hour's worth of laughs during back-to-back new episodes of "The Goldbergs," WEDNESDAY, OCT. 21 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Episodes can also be viewed the next day on demand and on Hulu. In the "Airplane!" episode (8:00-8:30 p.m. EDT), Beverly surprises the family with an end-of-summer vacation to Miami with the flight down resembling the classic film, and Geoff accidentally spills to Erica the real reason for the trip. With shows slowly going back into production, sets are having to drastically change things in order to comply with new safety guidelines that have been put in place to keep the hundreds of people involved in each series safe.
The issue is extra complicated, in some ways, for THE GOLDBERGS, which is set in 1980-something and therefore can’t incorporate the current pandemic into its storylines. (The season is kicking off with an AIRPLANE homage.)
THE GOLDBERGS star Hayley Orrantia has been documenting a bit of the new world order on Tik Tok, from the changes in the cast’s green room, how makeup and wardrobe have shifted, and it’s a fascinating look inside the new world order of production… Read more
THE GOLDBERGS: Adam F. Goldberg and Hayley Orrantia on a RISKY BUSINESS Homage, Fan Tattoos, and More

THE GOLDBERGS is back for its third season, and the comedy is kicking things off in style: with a tribute to RISKY BUSINESS.
“I was obsessed with RISKY BUSINESS growing up; it was just one of those movies that I loved,” THE GOLDBERGS creator Adam F. Goldberg shared. “And we touched upon it in another episode in a prior season, but I wanted to do a big blowout. This [themed episode] started with a love of a movie. And now that we have AJ Michalka (Lainey) [full-time] on the show, I saw an opportunity of Beverly having a new kid to parent. [Lainey’s] parents [are] going away for the weekend, and Beverly is like, ‘I’m going to fix your life in three days,’ basically. And Lainey’s never had any support, so she’s taken by it, but then realizes, no way, it’s time to throw a RISKY BUSINESS party. And it gets out of control, and Beverly has to save the day.”
Tonight’s third season premiere also marks the second year the show has been a part of ABC’s stable Wednesday night block of comedy. (THE GOLDBERGS aired on Tuesdays for its first season.) And with that solid ground, Goldberg noted his goal is to keep the show consistent.

THE GOLDBERGS is finally back with new episodes this Tuesday, and unfortunately for the family, all of the kids are going through a bit of a rough time: Erica is going through a breakup, and Barry’s addiction to a video game ends up sucking in Adam, too.
The Paley Center honored the ABC freshman comedy on Monday night, and before the panel, I spoke with series stars Wendi McLendon-Covey (Beverly), Jeff Garlin (Murray), Troy Gentile (Barry), and Hayley Orrantia (Erica) to see what they could tease about “The Age of Darkness.”
