SLEEPY HOLLOW: Tom Mison on Fan Support and His Season 3 Wishes

It’s been a month since SLEEPY HOLLOW ended its second season, and in that time, the show has been renewed for a third season and nabbed a new showrunner.
“There was a lot of concern from viewers about season 2 — that it had drifted away from [what made it special in] season 1,” SLEEPY HOLLOW star Tom Mison (Ichabod) acknowledged. “A choice was made, a path was taken, to explore certain aspects of these characters. And we’ve done that. We’ve got to know them through these circumstances, and now these circumstances are over, and now we’ll explore a different part of them, and they’ll have a different quest, a different journey.”
While the show’s renewal was in jeopardy, fans rallied to support it, including pushing the hashtag #RenewSleepyHollow on Twitter — a fact that was noticed by Mison.
SLEEPY HOLLOW: Tom Mison Previews the ‘Brilliant’ Finale, a ‘Very Different’ Ichabod

SLEEPY HOLLOW — which had one of the best/most deliciously twisty season finales with last year’s “Bad Blood” — has set up quite the season-ender for its sophomore year: fresh off Henry’s death, a heartbroken (and very angry) Katrina cast a spell allowing her to return to 1781 via a portal, and she intends to rewrite the past and let Ichabod die…in the hopes that she’d be able to raise her son. Unfortunately for Katrina, Abbie’s attempt to stop her led to Abbie going back into 1781 (and where she promptly landed in jail, because she didn’t have her papers which acknowledged her freedom).
And while time travel elements were a part of SLEEPY HOLLOW’s DNA from the start (after all, Ichabod was from the past, and woke up in 2013), star Tom Mison (Ichabod) admittedly he had his hesitations initially when he heard about two characters going back in time for the season finale — until he heard what the plan was.

SLEEPY HOLLOW’s Ichabod Crane has learned many new things since he woke up in 2013, but in Monday’s new episode, he’s tackling one of his biggest tasks yet: learning how to drive.
I spoke with SLEEPY HOLLOW star Tom Mison (Ichabod) about the task…and how his own driving in the scene freaked out one of the show’s stuntmen…

When SLEEPY HOLLOW’s first season concluded, every character was put in a pretty terrible position, and as showrunner Mark Goffman pointed out at the time, “These are the worst of situations to find themselves in, and they’re all separated.”
But the characters — especially Abbie and Ichabod — can’t stay separated forever. And since production of SLEEPY HOLLOW’s second season is underway right now, at Monday night’s FYC event, I asked series stars Tom Mison (Ichabod) and Nicole Beharie (Abbie), and executive producers Goffman and Len Wiseman what they could tease about Abbie and Ichabod’s eventual reunion…
SLEEPY HOLLOW: Tom Mison on Ichabod’s Season 2 Troubles, Why He Trusts the Writers, and More

When SLEEPY HOLLOW’s Ichabod Crane woke up in 2013, he found himself in an uncomfortable position — his friends and family were long gone; he discovered his wife was a witch, and while she was still alive, she was trapped in purgatory; he had to get used to all of the new inventions and way of doing things he had missed in the 200 years he had been dead.
And yet, as Mison points out in video below that all of that was a “walk in the park” compared to where Ichabod will find himself in season 2: his wife has been kidnapped (by his not-so-dead ex-best friend), his newfound son is causing all sorts of trouble…and there’s also the small matter of Ichabod being trapped in a box.
Check out what Mison had to say about Ichabod’s season 2 troubles, why he’s OK with not knowing too much about what’s to come, and more…
