STALKER: Kevin Williamson Previews Beth’s Battle with Ray

Comments Off on STALKER: Kevin Williamson Previews Beth’s Battle with Ray
STALKER has been off the air since February, but the series returns on Monday, April 27th, with a big hour: the resolution to Beth’s kidnapping (at the hand of her long-time, just-released-from-jail stalker, Ray).
“It’s interesting, because this is a show that’s gone through so many transformations, from the first idea years ago, ’til now,” STALKER creator Kevin Williamson admitted about waiting out the show’s (planned) hiatus. “It’s been hard. It’s been…a little nerve-wracking to not know when we were going to air. They did a bit of a shuffle. I really hope the audience can find it on the 27th. At least our core audience — I do want to satisfy the core audience we do have, and make sure they see it; it’s the climax to our season-long Ray/Perry/Beth storyline.”
Though most shows might have waited until the final episodes of the season to truly dive into Beth’s stalkers — and her fight against them — the STALKER writers opted to have her face Ray head-on with a few episodes to go in season 1.
THE FOLLOWING Bosses on a Ryan Hardy-Centric Season 3, Michael Ealy’s New Big Bad, and More

We’re just three weeks away from the two-hour season premiere of THE FOLLOWING, and things are set to be a bit different when the show returns.
First of all, the Joe Carroll chapter of the series is over. While Carroll made it out alive (and James Purefoy’s Carroll will appear on the show) — thanks to an alternate ending not making the final cut — the focus of the show will shift more fully to Kevin Bacon’s Ryan Hardy. (And Ryan will have to contend with a new baddie this season.)
There’s also been a behind-the-scenes transition in showrunners, as THE FOLLOWING creator Kevin Williamson has handed over showrunner duties to a trio of show vets: writers/executive producers Brett Mahoney and Alexi Hawley, as well as director/executive producer Marcos Siega. (Williamson has been focused on CBS’ STALKER.)
I spoke with Mahoney and Hawley about the transition to showrunning THE FOLLOWING, “moving the center of the show,” why fans of THE FOLLOWING newbie Michael Ealy will be excited by the season, and more…

To find out a little bit more about what’s in store, I spoke with Williamson about what the series will be tackling, the cases they’re going to handle, and more…

THE FOLLOWING creator (and former showrunner) Kevin Williamson will remain involved, but his main focus will be his new CBS drama, STALKER.

Kevin Williamson has another show about deranged humans, but this time it’s on CBS: STALKER, starring Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q, about a pair of detectives who handle stalking threats and incidents for the Threat Management Unit of the LAPD. (THE FOLLOWING, meanwhile, will be heading into its third season on Fox.)
Check out some photos, the official description, and a trailer for the series…

On Saturday, select Los Angeles THE FOLLOWING fans took on an impressive task: they marathoned all of season 1 (in one day) at a local movie theater. And, as a bonus, THE FOLLOWING creator Kevin Williamson (as well as series star Kevin Bacon) surprised fans by showing up for a quick Q&A.
Before the panel, I spoke with Williamson about the marathon, and what he hoped people picked up on when they watched the show for a second (or third) time…

THE FOLLOWING’s Kevin Williamson: ‘The Entire Show is Different’ in Season 2
December 18, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, The Following
THE FOLLOWING season 1 ended in an explosive manner — literally — and when the show returns for its sophomore season in January, things are drastically different: it’s a year later, Joe’s followers have kept a low-profile (for a bit), Ryan has once again moved away from working with the FBI, and a whole slew of new characters are added to the mix. (Which, given last year’s high fatality count, makes sense.)
For THE FOLLOWING creator Kevin Williamson, he acknowledged that even figuring out what the biggest change between season 1 and season 2 was difficult to nail down.

What happens next for Ryan Hardy? The cast and executive producers will be teasing what’s to come in season 2 during the Comic-Con panel, which is set to take place at 3:15 PM PT.
I’ll be live-blogging all of the details when the panel starts, but until then, here’s the official description of what you can expect: “Hit thriller The Following returns to Comic-Con for a second year, this time bringing the bacon to Ballroom 20. Series stars Kevin Bacon (Mystic River), Shawn Ashmore (X- Men: The Last Stand) and Valorie Curry (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2) join creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (Scream) and executive producer Marcos Siega (The Vampire Diaries) for a Q&A and video presentation.Season 1 left a number of casualties in its wake, including Jacob’s emotional killing of Paul, the kidnapping of Agent Parker that ended in her death, and Emma’s murder of Jacob. The explosive finale featured the highly anticipated face-off between Ryan and Carroll, ending in Carroll’s ultimate demise and leaving Ryan’s true love, Claire, hanging on for her life. From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television, The Following‘s second season premieres midseason on FOX.”

Think THE FOLLOWING has been addictively good so far? Things are about to get even crazier.
Tonight’s episode, “The Siege,” kicks off the first of a two-episode arc, and based on what the show’s stars had to say about what’s going down, the show will never be the same…
