Comments Off on ARROW: Marc Guggenheim Teases More of Andy Diggle, Fallout From Oliver’s Decision
ARROW fans have heard about John Diggle’s deceased brother, Andy, since season 1, but they only saw him in the flesh (via a flashback) during the recent hour, “The Return.” But that won’t be the last we’ll see of him.
Before the PaleyFest panel honoring The CW series, ARROW executive producer Marc Guggenheim teased they had plans beyond a brief appearance for Eugene Byrd (Andy).
“[In that episode] you are seeing Andy for the first time after seeing him first be mentioned in 1×03,” Guggenheim teases in the video below. “We had mentioned in 2×06 that Andy was killed by Deadshot, on behalf of an organization called H.I.V.E. So we’re slowly doling out, in the tiniest little ways…these little pieces of an ongoing mystery that we will ultimately get to. [Byrd] was not cast at random, we will be doing more flashbacks — he was cast with the understanding that we wanted him to return, because we have to tell that story. We have to tell the story of why did H.I.V.E. want this man, Andy Diggle, killed? It’s going to be an interesting question.”

ARROW returns tonight for its third season, and while fans have been counting down for the show’s return, executive producer Marc Guggenheim told reporters that “The Calm” is accessible to new viewers, too.
“I kinda feel like this episode is a really good jumping on point for new viewers,” he said. “We sort of closed a chapter at the end of season 2 and this is a brand new opening, and I don’t really think there’s anything you really need to know coming into it. It’s pretty new-viewer friendly and that wasn’t necessarily by design. It just happened that way because of the story we were telling.”
One of the new things the show will be exploring in the premiere? Felicity and Oliver’s shift into a potentially romantic relationship.

Comments Off on ARROW: J.R. Ramirez Cast as Ted Grant, AKA Wildcat
ARROW has filled another important DC role: Wildcat!
A rep for the show has confirmed that J.R. Ramirez (who is currently appearing on STARZ’ POWER) has landed the role of Ted Grant, AKA Wildcat. Ramirez could potentially recur in the role.
According to Deadline (which was first to report Ramirez’ casting), in the ARROW world, Ted Grant is “a former boxer who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. A man with a mysterious past, he will play a pivotal role in Laurel Lance’s arc this season.” (In the comics, Grant is a mentor to Black Canary…)
ARROW executive producer Mar Guggenheim first shared that Wildcat would make his way to the canvas “later this season” during Saturday night’s Comic-Con DC/WBTV event.
Are you excited to see Ramirez as Ted Grant?

Comments Off on ARROW: Marc Guggenheim and Jessica De Gouw Preview The Huntress’ Return
Tonight’s episode of ARROW features the return of a familiar face: Helena Bertinelli, AKA the Huntress!
“Obviously we love Jessica [De Gouw (Helena/The Huntress)], and we love the character of Helena Bertinelli,” Marc Guggenheim told reporters. “And we had been talking throughout the year about bringing the Huntress back in a variety of different scenarios.”
As for what made now the right time for the Huntress to reppear, Guggenheim pointed out that what the regular characters were going through — specifically Laurel’s attempt to rebuild her life — made the stories mesh well together.

ARROW: Marc Guggenheim and David Ramsey Preview ‘Suicide Squad’

Comments Off on ARROW: Marc Guggenheim and David Ramsey Preview ‘Suicide Squad’
ARROW is bringing viewers a bit of a different episode with tonight’s (awesome) new hour: Diggle takes center stage as he has to team up with the Suicide Squad.
“You know, it’s funny, we get asked the question a lot: how long have we known we were going to do the Suicide Squad?” ARROW executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained to reporters earlier this week. “And the truth is, it happened so organically, that I don’t have a memory [of the specifics]. For us, what happened was the year started — as year one did — with DC providing us with a list of characters who were available, and who they would like to see on the show. We went through it, and one of the characters was Bronze Tiger. We thought that was a character we could very organically ARROW-fy. And it seemed to make sense to us. But we had to wait for the right time…we find the right story to fit the character. And as it happened, we ended up doing it sooner than we expected, which was the second episode of season 2. And then we started to talk, well, we have Amanda Waller happening in episode 6, and we had A.R.G.U.S. last year, and we had Deadshot last year, so that gives us two members of the Suicide Squad — three, if you count Amanda — and we started whispering the words to each other: ‘Suicide Squad. Wouldn’t that be fun to get to?’ And then it just sort of happened very organically.”
