Fox’s new futuristic crime drama, MINORITY REPORT, is a follow-up, of sorts, to the 2002 Tom Cruise-led film, but thanks to the nature of television storytelling, the medium will allow the writers to dive deeper into the bigger ethical issues the movie introduced.
“The core of the story is that the film was about pre-crime, and that was an almost Orwellian program, by which we predicted the future, via these three human beings who were used as tools — they were enslaved for this purpose,” MINORITY REPORT creator Max Borenstein told reporters. “And then that ended. And now that that’s over, these three people still have those visions, [but] they’re too dangerous — and too powerful — for any one person to control, and therefore they were set free in anonymity. But if anyone ever found them, they would be in great danger. And as a result, they each have to choose how they’re going to deal with their gifts in this world that has wronged them.”
But it’s complicated by the fact that one of the siblings, Dash, feels a responsibility to not let these warnings go unheard. And when he sets out to fix things, he runs into Detective Vega…who could be the perfect person to help him prevent crimes.
