Naturally, Bonnie (Allison Janney) has an old acquaintance who is locked up at the jail, and Tammy (guest star Kristen Johnston) is not pleased to have a reunion.

CBS Renews MOM

MOM will return for a sixth season, CBS announced.

“MOM has been a lynchpin comedy for us over the last several years,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment in a statement. “It’s a fearless series that tackles provocative social issues with laughter and grace, and a large, loyal audience has followed. With gifted talents like Anna [Faris] and Allison [Janney] leading a great ensemble cast, and a production team headed by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, Nick Bakay and Gemma Baker, this series just keeps getting better.” Read more

MOM: Allison Janney Teases Bonnie and Adam’s Dynamic Shift

MOM’s Adam (William Fichtner) and Bonnie (Allison Janney) have been through a lot during their courtship, but the Thursday, April 5 episode of the CBS comedy could be their biggest couple test yet.

When Adam loses a close friend, Bonnie is tasked with taking care of her fiancé as he copes with his loss. And, well, that goes about as well as you’d expect.

“Bonnie is not used to having to be the one who is the rock,” Janney said before the show’s PaleyFest panel in the video below. “She says she’s the river; she likes Adam to be the rock…she has a little bit of trouble putting on those shoes. It’s kind of funny to see her deal with that.”

MOM: The Cast Previews How Their Characters are Handling Jill Falling Off the Wagon

Throughout MOM’s five seasons, the cast and writers of the CBS series have seamlessly injected natural drama into the comedy series, and the current storyline is no different. As Jill (Jaime Pressly) struggles to get back on the wagon, she leans heavily on Christy (Anna Faris), Bonnie (Allison Janney), Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), and Wendy (Beth Hall).

Before the comedy’s recent PaleyFest panel, Pressly previewed how her character was handling the bump in the road, plus Janney, Kennedy, and Hall teased their characters’ reaction to Jill’s setback.

MOM: Anna Faris Previews the Group’s Turmoil

The women of MOM’s AA support group had a setback in the last episode, as Jill (Jaime Pressly) relapsed.

Christy (Anna Faris), who has been Jill’s biggest ally, struggles to help her friend in Thursday’s new installment…even to the potential detriment of her personal life. “She feels very motherly over Jill,” Faris notes in the video below. “I love that we get to put this dynamic into a show…You have these five strong women going through real life struggles. And on CBS! We constantly look around [in shock].”

Unfortunately, Jill’s hardships are the tip of the iceberg for the close-knit group of women. Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), the makeshift family leader, will have her own road bump later in the season. “Marjorie has always been a surrogate mother figure to Christy, so I think it’s very disconcerting, of course,” Faris says. “It shakes up her world. [Bonnie] has never been a very stable figure she can count on, so it’s very jarring.”

CBS Sets 2018 Finale Dates

CBS has set finale dates for the 2017-2018 season.

SCORPION kicks things off on Monday, April 16th, and the finales continue for another month-plus, when SURVIVOR ends on Wednesdays, May 23rd.

Additionally, CRIMINAL MINDS, MOM, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, LIFE IN PIECES, and NCIS: LOS ANGELES will have supersized finales.

Can’t make it to Los Angeles for PaleyFest 2018? The Paley Center for Media announced that several of the festival’s panels will stream live on its official Facebook page. (Tickets are also still for sale for nearly all of the panels.)

MOM: Kristin Chenoweth Makes a Splash in ‘Charlotte Brontë and a Backhoe’

Emmy- and Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth pops in to MOM this week as Jill’s (Jaime Pressly) “inner strength coach,” Miranda. (The guest spot also marks a WEST WING reunion with Chenoweth and MOM star—and recent Oscar winner!—Allison Janney.)

Naturally, Miranda’s methods rub all of Jill’s friends the wrong way. But with Christy (Anna Faris) reeling from her law school rejection, Miranda’s can-do attitude, might be exactly what she needs.

MOM: Jaime Pressly Made a Season 3 Series Regular

Fresh off MOM’s third season renewal, the CBS comedy has promoted Jaime Pressly to a series regular. (The promotion will start next season.)

Pressly plays Jill, a recovering addict who has been working on her sobriety (with some help from Anna Faris’ Christy). She first appeared in the show’s second season premiere.

CBS Renews MOM, MIKE & MOLLY, and 2 BROKE GIRLS

CBS has renewed MOM, MIKE & MOLLY, and 2 BROKE GIRLS for the 2015-2016 season, the network officially announced. (News of MOM and MIKE & MOLLY’s renewal trickled out via social media last night.) They join previously renewed comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY, as well as already renewed freshman dramas, SCORPION, MADAM SECRETARY, and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS.

MOM: Jaime Pressly to Guest Star

MOM has booked its first guest star of season 2: JENNIFER FALLS’ Jaime Pressly!

“Jaime Pressly is coming on for a story arc,” MOM star Allison Janney (Bonnie) told me at the CBS Television Critics Association press tour party. “She’ll be someone that Christy tries to help who is recently sober. So that’ll be fun!”
