With NEW AMSTERDAM’s Max (Ryan Eggold) and Helen (Freema Agyeman) now off making a new life in London, things are very different at the hospital they left behind.
“Max and Helen really left them at the worst possible time,” NEW AMSTERDAM showrunner David Schulner previously teased. “Fuentes has really remade the place in her image. And all of them are really suffering the consequences for that.”
One of the steps Fuentes (Michelle Forbes) has taken? Hiring Dr. Mia Castries—played by BACKSTROM/GOOD GIRLS REVOLT’s Genevieve Angelson, who is recurring on the NBC medical drama.

The doctors at NEW AMSTERDAM may have been able to get the hospital back from the hackers in “Paid in Full,” but Max (Ryan Eggold) had to make a figurative deal with the devil to get it done…which meant hundreds of workers were laid off.
For the remaining workers, the fallout is “tough,” Jocko Sims, who plays Dr. Reynolds, says in the video below. “And the one that’s affecting him the most, naturally, is losing Baptiste, ironically enough. Reynolds now has this new title, but as he expresses to Sharpe in a scene, something about this doesn’t quite feel right.”
