Taraji P. Henson on PERSON OF INTEREST Fan Love, and Her New Show, EMPIRE Providing a ‘Role That Actors Wait a Lifetime For’

Taraji P. Henson has kept busy during her nearly two decades of acting — including an Oscar nomination for her role in THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON — but she admitted to me she’s still a little shocked by the sheer amount fan love she’s received from her time playing Joss Carter on CBS’ PERSON OF INTEREST.
“Isn’t that something?” Henson asked. “It blows me away. And it reminds me of why I got into acting; I do this because I feel like God gave me a gift. My father always said if you’re blessed, you have to go out into the world and be a blessing. I get to touch people and give them a cathartic experience. Or let them see a little bit of themselves. Or see somebody who needs help. So when I get this feedback from people saying Carter has touched their lives, I get goosebumps and I get emotional. Because that’s all I want to do. That’s why I do what I do.”
And while Henson knew Carter’s tragic demise was coming, what she didn’t realize was how much her exit would rock fans.

PERSON OF INTEREST split up the team at the end of last season — Finch, Reese, Root, and Shaw assumed cover identities to hide from Samaritan, while Fusco was left holding down the fort at the NYPD — but they won’t be able to stay away for long.
Check out the photos from PERSON OF INTEREST’s fourth season premiere, “Panopticon”…

"Panopticon" -- Forced to take on new identities created by Root, the team tries to adapt to their new lives. However, some find it hard to ignore The Machine's numbers, which puts them all at risk of being detected by Samaritan, on the fourth season premiere of PERSON OF INTEREST, Tuesday, Sept. 23 (10:01-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Comments Off on PERSON OF INTEREST: Michael Emerson and Kevin Chapman on the Show’s Future
PERSON OF INTEREST — which is, as far as I’m concerned, one of the best shows on television right now — isn’t a show that plays it safe: the showrunners have been adamant that anyone can die at any time (and they’ve stuck to that), and that this isn’t a show that’s destined to run for 200-plus episodes.
But what do the actors on the show think of all of that? Michael Emerson (Finch) and Kevin Chapman (Fusco) weighed in on the looming threat to their characters’ lives, and why it’s OK if the show doesn’t run 10 seasons…

PERSON OF INTEREST has nabbed Jason Ritter (PARENTHOOD, Fox’s never-aired US & THEM) for a guest spot, a rep for the show has confirmed.
According to IGN (which was first to report the casting), Ritter will play Simon Lee, a politician whom EPs Greg Plageman and Jonathan Nolan tease has “an incredible gift of foresight.” (Which side of the Machine war will he end up on?)
Ritter will appear in the fifth episode of the show’s upcoming fourth season.
Are you excited to see Ritter on POI?
PERSON OF INTEREST premieres Tuesday, September 23rd at 10 PM on CBS.

We have just over a month until PERSON OF INTEREST returns with new episodes, and things will be a bit different for the team as they adjust to their new “normal” lives.
To give a little tease about what’s to come, PERSON OF INTEREST stars Amy Acker (Root) and Sarah Shahi (Shaw) spoke with reporters about their characters handling their new identities, the tone of season 4, the Root/Shaw relationship, Root’s devotion to the Machine, “another entity that enters the picture for Shaw,” and more…

The PERSON OF INTEREST characters had to split up at the end of last season after Samaritan went online…and poor Fusco was the only one left behind to live his life. (Though he will get a new boss and partner in season 4, so it’s not like Fusco is going to get the chance to become complacent.)
At Comic-Con, PERSON OF INTEREST stars Michael Emerson (Finch) and Kevin Chapman (Fusco) talked with reporters about Finch’s new life, Fusco’s partner, the new beginning, the season 4 threats, and more…

PERSON OF INTEREST’s Fusco is getting a new boss: a rep for the show confirms that THE UNUSUALS’ Monqieu Curnen will recur during the upcoming fourth season as Captain Felicia Moreno.
According to TVLine (which was first to report the casting), Captain Moreno is described as “New York-born and whip-smart,” and will first appear in the third episode of the year.
Are you excited to see how Fusco deals with his new boss?

The PERSON OF INTEREST characters were forced to split up at the end of last season in order to remain safe, and things won’t be calming down much when the show returns this fall.
“This season is about the war between two machines,” POI executive producer Greg Plageman told reporters at Comic-Con. “The question becomes, how do you go up against something that’s watching and listening [to your every move]?”
Check out what else he and series star Jim Caviezel (Reese) were able to tease about season 4…

PERSON OF INTEREST at Comic-Con: Live-Blog
July 26, 2014 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under Comic Con, Person of Interest
The cast of PERSON OF INTEREST is at Comic-Con to promote the new season of the series, and I’ll be live-blogging what they have to say starting at 6:15 PM PT.
Check out the official panel description, and come back when the panel starts for live updates!
“The smash hit Person of Interest returns to San Diego for the fourth year. Executive producer Greg Plageman and series offer a special video presentation and Q&A. Join the discussion, as the science “fiction” of Person of Interest stays one step ahead of real-world events. The thrilling finale left us with a second machine-Samaritan-now online, making the elusive team targets themselves, hiding in plain sight. The only thing more frightening than the ruthless Decima organization calling the shots is leaving those decisions up to an untested Machine. Facing a dangerous tomorrow, the POI team must find a way to outsmart Samaritan, an all-seeing, all-powerful artificial intelligence that’s self-governing, continually evolving, and growing stronger every day. From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Person of Interest returns for its fourth season in the fall on Tuesdays at 10/9c on CBS. Person of Interest: The Complete Third Season will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 2.”
