When Greg Garcia was developing SPRUNG—his first streaming series after creating network and cable comedies like MY NAME IS EARL, RAISING HOPE, THE GUEST BOOK, and YES, DEAR—he knew he wanted the series to stand apart from his previous work.
“I wanted the show to look different,” he explains in the video below. “We kind of shot it different than my other shows.”

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: Garret Dillahunt to Guest Star
February 2, 2015 by Marisa Roffman
RAISING HOPE’s Garret Dillahunt is diving back into comedy…at least for a guest spot.
Dillahunt — who is currently busy on the final season of JUSTIFIED — will guest star on an upcoming episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, a rep for the show confirmed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (which was first to report the casting), Dillahunt’s character is the “best” in the NYPD, and both Amy and Jake are eager to impress him…and he, naturally, becomes a love interest for Amy.
Are you excited to see Dillahunt on BROOKLYN NINE-NINE?

Marisa’s Top 14 Episodes of 2014

Comments Off on Marisa’s Top 14 Episodes of 2014
For my top episodes of the year, I did something different this year: I didn’t let myself choose anything from my top shows of 2014. There are certainly shows there that could (and maybe should) have installments listed here, but considering how much television I watch, I wanted to expand the field of shows versus just going over (again) why I loved the top shows.
The following episodes aren’t ranked (they’re listed alphabetically), but I did note which one would have been number one if I had gone that route…
And have you seen Sarah and Kelly’s lists, too? Check out Sarah’s top shows and top episodes, as well as Kelly’s top shows and top episodes.
What was your favorite show this year?

After two weeks of Give Me My Remote readers nominating their television favorites from the past year, it’s time to vote for the 4th Annual GMMR TV Awards!
Most of the categories have five nominees, but due to ties, the number can vary. (And, as a reminder, each category can only have two nominees per show, so only the top two vote-getters from any particular series moved forward.)
Next up: “Best Series Finale (Unplanned).”

RAISING HOPE Series Finale: Mike Mariano on the Ending, Kenny Loggins, and More
April 7, 2014 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, Raising Hope
RAISING HOPE’s Mike Mariano opted to give the underrated Fox comedy proper closure in its season 4 finale in case the show wasn’t renewed for a fifth season (he bet correctly), and so the Chances ended on a quiet note…with the exception of Virginia’s father, Arnold, moving into Jimmy’s old room.
I spoke with Mariano about the ending, what season 5 ideas they had, getting Kenny Loggins, and more…

The Chances are saying goodbye: Fox has confirmed that RAISING HOPE is ending next month.
“On behalf of myself, [RAISING HOPE creator] Greg Garcia and RAISING HOPE’s amazing cast and crew, I would like to thank our audience for tuning in and supporting us over the last four seasons,” said executive producer Mike Mariano in a statement. “We planned our Season Four finale with this possibility in mind, and hope our loyal fans enjoy the way we’ve chosen to say goodbye to the Chances and to Natesville. Thanks again, and we’ll see you in syndication.”
“Getting to know and love the Chance family on RAISING HOPE has been a sweet, hilarious ride,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment and Joe Earley, Chief Operating Officer, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Thanks to the incredibly talented cast – along with Greg, Mike and the entire crew – for making us laugh for four fantastic seasons.”
RAISING HOPE will end with a one hour series finale on Friday, April 4th at 9 PM.
