We’re just a few hours away from RAISING HOPE making its Friday debut/airing its fourth season premiere…are you excited? (The correct answer should be “hell yes,” by the way.)

RAISING HOPE Showrunner Mike Mariano Previews Season 4

RAISING HOPE is finally back on Friday!

It’s been nearly eight months since we last checked in with the Chance family, but now they have a new time slot (Fridays at 9 PM), a new showrunner (RH creator Greg Garcia is now working on THE MILLERS, so his second-in-command, Mike Mariano is running the Fox comedy), and they’ll be airing back-to-back episodes for the rest of the calendar year.

Even better? There is some great stuff in store for RAISING HOPE fans this season.

RAISING HOPE: Mike Mariano Dishes on What Episode Garret Dillahunt Will Direct

RAISING HOPE star Garret Dillahunt (Burt) will be making his directorial debut on the Fox comedy this season, and thanks to new showrunner Mike Mariano, we now have an idea of what the episode will be about.

“It is an episode where Martha [Plimpton]’s character, Virginia, goes to dinner with her boss,” Mariano told me. “And where Jimmy…has an issue with Hope’s pet.”

It’ll still be a little bit before Dillahunt steps behind the camera — Mariano told me he was just about to get the first draft of the script — but it sounds like it could be a good one, yes?

RAISING HOPE premieres Friday, November 15th at 9 PM with back-to-back new episodes. And be sure to come back soon for more RAISING HOPE scoop!

Fox Delays ALMOST HUMAN, Pushes Back BONES’ Move to Fridays, Postpones RAISING HOPE’s Season Premiere

Fox has opted to shake up its November schedule. ALMOST HUMAN — which was set to debut in 2 weeks from tonight — has now been pushed to a two-night debut on November 17/18. BONES will stay in its Monday time slot for two weeks in November until shifting to Fridays on November 15th. And RAISING HOPE’s premiere has been pushed back a week to November 15th.

RAISING HOPE: Garret Dillahunt on Moving to Fridays and Getting a New Showrunner

RAISING HOPE bounced around a bit as it finished its third season (the final two episodes of the year aired on a Thursday), but when it returns for the upcoming season, it’s currently scheduled to make the move to Friday nights (after BONES).

“I even get tweets from people far from Hollywood that think ‘oh, you’re in the death slot,'” RAISING HOPE star Garret Dillahunt (Burt) acknowledged of the shift. “That’s just not true anymore. There are some hits on Friday nights: BLUE BLOODS and GRIMM did very well. A lot of people don’t know what night a show is on anymore, the way people watch TV. It could be great for us. We could end up being the stars of the night and last another three years. If we hold our audience, we’re going to be heroes. It really didn’t affect me one way or the other. And I suppose it would be a waste of energy if it did, because it’s happening. If something at Tuesday [tanks], or if it happens on another night, I have no doubt they’re going to put us right back in there. We seem to be that show for them.”

“It’s such a different landscape…it’s not the ’90s,” he added. “FRIENDS is probably never going to happen again; no one’s going to get that kind of audience. In a way it’s freeing. You can make a more distinctive show and not have to try and please so many people, which I think is a disastrous effort anyway. But in a sense, it’s hard to get people to catch on enough to stay on. You want it to stay on. We’re about to shoot our fourth season; that’s unheard of, these days.”

And while the comedy might have made it to its fourth season, it will be sans the show’s creator, Greg Garcia, who has moved on to the new series, THE MILLERS.

RAISING HOPE: Molly Shannon to Recur

RAISING HOPE has added a new recurring cast member for the upcoming fourth season: Molly Shannon! A rep for Fox has confirmed that Shannon will join the comedy, starting in the fourth episode of the next year.

According to Deadline (who was first to report the casting), Shannon will will play Maxime, the new owner of Howdy’s.
