The cast and creative team behind Fox’s THE ORVILLE were honored at PaleyFest over the weekend.
Series star/creator Seth MacFarlane (Ed) joined stars Adrianne Palicki (Kelly), Scott Grimes (Gordon), Penny Johnson Jerald (Dr. Finn), Halston Sage (Alara), Peter Macon (Bortus), J. Lee (John), Mark Jackson (Isaac), Chad Coleman (Klyden), and executive producers David Goodman, Brannon Braga, Jason Clark, and Cherry Chevapravatdumrong to discuss the show’s first season. (THE ORVILLE season 2 has started production, but the team was coy about what’s in store.)

Seth MacFarlane has a long history with Fox, from his animated comedies (FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD, and THE CLEVELAND SHOW) to his recent turn as an executive producer on the live-action sitcom, DADS, and now, he’s attached to one of the network’s more ambitious shows: COSMOS, a 13-part series hosted by astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson that explores how our grasp of the universe has changed over the years. (It’s a stunning undertaking — and a bit baffling to imagine how Carl Sagan and co-writers Ann Druyan and Steven Soter pulled it off during the first version 1980 — and still manages to be completely entertaining.)
At the show’s premiere this week, MacFarlane talked with reporters about what prompted him to get involved with this show, the challenges they faced, and what he hopes viewers get from the series…
