THE ROOKIE celebrates its 100th episode on Tuesday, February 26 as Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey (Jenna Dewan) tie the knot. And, off-screen, it’s milestone fewer shows are reaching—due to shorter season orders, truncated runs, and an ever-changing industry.
“Honestly, I’ve been working in this industry for 25 years, and I’ve never been on a show that’s been 100 episodes,” Shawn Ashmore, who plays Wesley, tells Give Me My Remote. “So it’s amazing.”
“To be on a show that is successful enough to last that long is an amazing gift, but then also to be on a show that you want to continue to do and make more episodes?” he continues. “I know that you hear that a lot: Oh, this show is great and everyone has a fun time. But it’s a pleasure to go to work every day. And the fact that the show is successful, as well, is pretty special. So, for me, it’s a dream come true.”
“I’ve been in the industry for maybe three years, and I’ve never worked on a show that has 100 episodes, either,” Tru Valentino, who plays Aaron, deadpans.

THE FOLLOWING is back this Monday!
And while the show’s return might be good news for fans, unfortunately it doesn’t bode well for Ryan Hardy and Mike Weston: though Joe is behind bars, their problems are only getting started as they deal with new faces who are stirring up trouble, as well as a mysterious big bad.
I sat down with Kevin Bacon (Ryan) and Shawn Ashmore (Mike) to talk about what’s in store for season 3, their characters’ dynamic, and why Michael Ealy’s Theo is a “big unknown”…

At Comic-Con, Kevin Bacon (Ryan) and Shawn Ashmore (Mike) talked with reporters about Ryan’s happier mindset, the “rage and revenge” bubbling for Mike, and more…

Comments Off on THE FOLLOWING’s Shawn Ashmore: ‘Things Get Dramatically Worse’ For Mike
THE FOLLOWING’s Mike snapped in the last episode, but beating up Luke won’t be the lowest point Mike reaches this season: “Oh my God, things get dramatically worse,” Shawn Ashmore (Mike) laughed.
“I think Mike had the violent outburst, but he knows at the end of the day what he did was wrong,” Ashmore acknowledged. “It was a release of a lot of pain, and a lot of built up trauma from the past season or two.”

So far in THE FOLLOWING’s sophomore season, the significant contact between the bad guys and the good guys has been limited (aside from Lily’s manipulation). But based on the photos from the February 24th episode, “Fly Away,” that’s about to change.

THE FOLLOWING Cast Teases the ‘Epic’ Two-Parter

Comments Off on THE FOLLOWING Cast Teases the ‘Epic’ Two-Parter
Think THE FOLLOWING has been addictively good so far? Things are about to get even crazier.
Tonight’s episode, “The Siege,” kicks off the first of a two-episode arc, and based on what the show’s stars had to say about what’s going down, the show will never be the same…

Comments Off on THE FOLLOWING: Shawn Ashmore and Annie Parisse on Being Drawn to the Series and Getting Gradual Character Development
For those already under THE FOLLOWING’s spell, there’s no doubt the show is something special. And for it to truly work, it had to attract just the right group of actors.
“I was actively looking to do a television show, so…I was reading up on the pilots, auditioning for a bunch of things, and this was just my favorite show this year,” Shawn Ashmore (Mike) said. “I read it and I was like, this is something I would love to be a part of — this is something I would watch. Kevin Williamson wrote an amazing script that drew me in, and Kevin Bacon (Ryan) and James Purefoy (Joe) were also already cast, so I was like, this thing already has a great pedigree. I love them as actors, I can see where they’re going, and obviously the show really depends on the relationship between these two. I can see their strengths, I can see where that might go. So it was exciting. And I’ve worked with Marcos Siega — who directed the pilot — before, so it was like, I’m going to really go after this show. You do what you do: you audition, you test, you do whatever you need to do. And I’m just lucky I came out on the other side. I just loved the character and I loved the show. It’s something I would watch myself.”
As for Annie Parisse — whose character, Parker, debuts in tonight’s episode — she had a bit of an advantage going into the series.
