SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE Parodies THE VOICE, CATFISH, and Introduces SOPRANOS HIGH

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE sure had a lot of television-inspired parodies during Adam Levine’s episode.
While paying homage to Levine’s show, THE VOICE, was a no-brainer (though the cameos from Andy Samberg, Jerry Seinfeld, and Cameron Diaz were a nice twist), SNL also poked fun at CATFISH, and thanks to THE CARRIE DIARIES, they gave us a high school-set prequel to THE SOPRANOS dubbed SOPRANOS HIGH.

Since Andy Samberg’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE departure, we’ve had a SNL digital short drought. But thanks to his little cameo in last night’s episode, we also got a brand new Lonely Island song to sing (featuring SNL host Adam Levine and musical guest Kendrick Lamar).
Take a look!

It seems the writers of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE are fans of HOMELAND.
Just a week after the show name-dropped the Showtime series during their cold open about Sandy, HOMELAND got a full parody sketch last night.
Did you miss it? Want to watch it again? Take a look…
I love HOMELAND, but that was pretty amazing, right?

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: Louis C.K. Parodies LOUIE with ‘Lincoln’ Sketch

LOUIE may be on a hiatus until early 2014, but when Louis C.K. hosted SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE this weekend, he did a little parody of his series — as President Lincoln.
Take a look at the version that aired this past Saturday night, and a special director’s cut from dress rehearsal footage…
The Jonas Brothers on Saturday Night Live

SNL took full advantage of last night’s musical guests, The Jonas Brothers. The Brothers Joani were featured in a bunch of skits last night. They were actually pretty good and I wouldn’t be surprised if SNL has them coming back soon as hosts/musical guests. I thought they were really, really, really awesome…best thing ever!! (That was for my older sister who said that I am too hard on The Jonas Brothers.)
Sorry kids, NBC didn’t post the musical appearance.
The Fourth Jonas: Gary Jonas
Digital Short: Property of the Queen
The Jonas Brothers live forever…
Any other special SNL moments from last night?
The Best of Neil Patrick Harris on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

My love for all things Neil Patrick Harris have been well documented here on this site. But after last night’s hosting gig of SNL, my love has only grown. I had not doubt that Neil was going to be fantastic, but he so committed to each and every skit that he really stood out as one of the best hosts in quite some time.
I was surprised that with the exception of the brief ‘Seasons of Love’ chorus, Neil didn’t sing. Missed opportunity. Oh well, next time. And I am 100% certain there will be a next time.
Here are a few of my favorite skits from last night…
Neil Patrick Harris Saves Broadway
My inner theater geeked absolutely loved this skit featuring some of Broadway’s biggest stars trying to save the Great White Way. Neil as RENT’s Mark was great. I wish I had seen NPH when he played that role on Broadway.
NPH Hosting SNL! It’s Going to be….

Perhaps the “legendary” joke has been played out, but the awesomeness of Neil Patrick Harris will never be. As we told you about way back in December, Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend.
UPDATE: To watch Neil Patrick Harris hosting SNL click here: The Best of Neil Patrick Harris on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
I can’t remember a time when I have been more excited for SNL. I think Neil is going to be a natural. And of course he’s going to sing…he has to, right? What other skits might Neil take on this weekend?
A few possibilities…
- A Doogie Howser Skit – Doogie is all grown up and has become an alcoholic, womanizing under achiever.
- A HIMYM Skit – Barney hitting on Kristen Wiig’s Aunt Linda.
- A Dr. Horrible Skit – In my dreams.
What else might the man of many talents be taking on this weekend. I’m really starting to geek out.
