Press Tour can be a bit of a wild card — no matter how good (or bad) a show might be, you never really know what a panel will be like until the cast and producers sit down in front of you and start speaking.

The RAKE panel today was going perfectly fine…until executive producer Peter Tolan was asked about working on Fox. What we didn’t know was that the reporter who asked had unknowingly set up the best joke as Tolan had brought along his “journal” to read his thoughts about working for Fox, which he then proceeded to hilariously dead-pan read to TCA members.

What came next not only caused Tolan to worldwide trend on Twitter, but it also had a whole lot of us laughing our heads off. Take a look a the transcript of what Tolan told us…

Comments Off on REVOLUTION: NBC Boss Robert Greenblatt on the Night Change and Rating Woes

After spending its first season supported by THE VOICE lead-in, REVOLUTION will be on the move next season, making the attempt to launch NBC’s Wednesday night. And while that shift may worry some fans, NBC bosses are playing it cool.

“I never have any real expectations for anything,” Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment told reporters after the NBC executive Television Critics Association session. “We love the show, it’s going to be difficult in a 8 o’clock time period, I’m excited about it creatively, and I’m going to hope for the best.”

But that’s not to say Greenblatt isn’t aware the show had its ratings issues after it returned from its midseason hiatus.

Comments Off on SEAN SAVES THE WORLD Boss on Beefing Up Megan Hilty’s Role in the Show

For SMASH fans lamenting the loss of Megan Hilty on our television screens every week, there’s good news: she’ll be having a major presence on the new NBC comedy, SEAN SAVES THE WORLD.

While Hilty wasn’t in the show’s original pilot (you can actually see Lindsay Sloane in the comedy’s trailer), her addition has led the creative team to rethink some of their plans for her character.

Good news for BONES fans: Fox has renewed the drama for a ninth season.

“After more than 150 episodes, BONES continues to be one of television’s most dynamic and consistent dramas,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company in a statement. “We at FOX, along with millions of zealous fans, look forward to seeing where the incredible creative team takes the series next season.”

BONES star David Boreanaz (Booth) first stirred up speculation about the show’s future when he tweeted last month, “Very excited to be a part of the FOX Family for the next season…#Bones.” (Fox had previously licensed the show for two years, but they had the option whether they wanted to renew it for this upcoming ninth season.)

BONES returns with (back-to-back) new episodes January 14, 2013.

Comments Off on NBC Picks Up New Drama Series CAMP

NBC is beefing up its summer lineup: the network has ordered 13 episodes of a new drama series, CAMP.

“In our desire to make summer an exciting place at NBC along with our signature unscripted shows like ‘America’s Got Talent,’ ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Ninja Warrior,’ we developed a scripted dramedy we love with BermanBraun that has rich and dysfunctional characters in that great setting where millions of families and young people go each summer: camp,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment in a statement. “Most of us have had great experiences at camp, and this show — created by two of our favorite producers, Liz Heldens (creator of ‘Deception’) and Peter Elkoff (co-executive producer of ‘Deception’) — is sophisticated, funny, and emotional, and we think it will be the ideal summer series for us.”
