Ahead of Peacock’s July 15 launch, the streaming service had inked a deal with ViacomCBS.
The shows being added? RAY DONOVAN, THE AFFAIR, UNDERCOVER BOSS, THE GAME, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, and REAL HUSBANDS OF HOLLYWOOD. Additionally, CHARMED will join the platform in October.

Pilots…are tough. Shows have to introduce a world, characters, and, in theory, set up where the show will go in the first season. But when they’re done correctly? Boy, they can be magic.
As the decade comes to a close, we look back at some of our favorite pilots over the past ten years…*
AWAKE (March 1, 2012)
NBC’s midseason launch in 2012 was one of the most ambitious network swings of the decade—more on SMASH later—and AWAKE was arguably the biggest risk. Though the series ended up being short-lived, AWAKE didn’t play it safe: it followed Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs), a detective who found himself living in two realities after a devastating crash…one where his wife perished, the other where his son did. The pilot deftly handled the overlying grief, while engaging a WTF-is-going-on mystery. The always-great Isaacs was particularly great as the show’s linchpin.

When THE AFFAIR’s final season kicks off in August, Helen (Maura Tierney) and Noah (Dominic West) remain as convoluted and twistedly intertwined as ever.
Per Showtime, season 5 of THE AFFAIR “will chronicle the aftermath of last season’s horrific events and find the characters coming to terms with the consequences of their choices – as they make the realization that if they really want to change their futures, they must first face the past. Helen (Tierney) begins the season involved in an intoxicating new affair with a charismatic movie star (guest star Claes Bang), who offers to give her everything she’s been missing. Noah (West) meanwhile has to swallow his pride and his jealousy and step in to take care of his family in her absence. But just when things seem to have stabilized, a chance encounter with someone from the distant past sets in a motion a sequence of events that brings them both to their knees. Anna Paquin stars as Alison and Cole’s now adult daughter Joanie Lockhart, who returns some years in the future to piece together the truth about what happened to her mother, bringing the whole story full circle. In addition to West, Tierney and Paquin, season five series regulars include Julia Goldani Telles and Jadon Sand as Noah and Helen’s children, Whitney and Trevor Solloway; and Sanaa Lathan, as Janelle, Noah’s girlfriend and the principal at the school where he teaches. Emily Browning, Omar Metwally, John Doman, Kathleen Chalfant, Max Fowler, Michael Braun, Abigail Dylan Harrison and Jake Siciliano will also guest star.”

When THE AFFAIR returns for its fourth season, Noah (Dominic West), Helen (Maura Tierney), Alison (Ruth Wilson) and Cole (Joshua Jackson) continue to splinter…but, of course, continue to be drawn back together.
This year, their twisted dynamic gets new additions: Janelle (Sanaa Lathan), the principal of the school where Noah works; and Ben (Ramon Rodriguez), a Marine vet who is entangled with Alison. THE AFFAIR season 4 also includes guest stars Phoebe Tonkin, Russell Hornsby, Christopher Meyer, and Amy Irving.

Honestly, I don’t know how people who don’t do this as a career survive Sunday nights. I had nine shows I watched on Sunday night, and there are still a few I have to catch up on/I had screeners for about half of these. These are high-class problems, but man, what a huge amount of TV for us to discuss.
Let’s get to it, with an extra warning that there are spoilers in here — between a finale and a big unannounced cameo on a certain Fox comedy, there are spoilers in here for a good number of Sunday shows…

SEX AND THE CITY’s Cynthia Nixon has signed on to guest star in the second season of THE AFFAIR, Showtime announced.
According to the network, Nixon will play Marilyn Sanders, “a direct and challenging Manhattan couples therapist who is helping Noah and Alison come together after a period of strain.”
THE AFFAIR — which kicks off its sophomore season this Sunday — will change up its format in the upcoming year: instead of showcasing the events of the series through Noah and Alison’s point of views, this year we’ll also get insight into Helen (Noah’s ex-wife) and Cole (Alison’s ex-husband).
THE AFFAIR premieres Sunday, October 4th at 10 PM on Showtime.

THE AFFAIR: Sarah Treem, Joshua Jackson, and Maura Tierney Preview Season 2’s Perspective Shifts

THE AFFAIR is shaking things up in its second season.
With the first year telling the story of Noah and Alison’s affair from their perspectives, the sophomore season will showcase the fallout of the Noah/Helen and Alison/Cole marriage by showing all four of their stories.
And with that change comes a slight format shift. The first season of THE AFFAIR showed both POVs regularly, but with four perspectives to juggle, the show will shift who it showcases week-by-week.
“For the most part, it’s still going to be two perspectives,” THE AFFAIR co-creator Sarah Treem told reporters at the recent TCA panel. “The question is whose two perspectives. So the show takes off in what I think is sort of an interesting prismatic approach to storytelling where you’ll see sort of pieces of the story from all four POVs, and then you’ll start to understand as the show keeps going basically how those four POVs are sort of funneling together, which they do do by the end.”
The change in formatting has also allowed for its actors to dive deeper into their roles.
