Chris Klein is THE FLASH‘s new big bad. The actor has signed on to play the villainous Cicada in the upcoming fifth season, it was announced at Comic-Con.
Per WB, Cicada is “a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans…[he] now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time.”
“He’s not so much a cult leader, but his powers present a challenge for Team Flash they’ve never had to deal with before,” executive producer Todd Helbing teased during the show’s panel.

In tonight’s episode of THE FLASH, Barry opts to take on Zoom.
But not everyone is thrilled with Barry’s decision: Jay warns that Zoom is too dangerous for them to take on — and Caitlin agrees.
“I think she’s really scared of Zoom,” Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin) told reporters on the show’s Vancouver set. “Obviously Reverse Flash was personal for Barry. I think Zoom is scary for everyone.”

THE FLASH’s Patty Spivot is making her mark.
Just a few episodes after her introduction, Barry and Patty will go on their first date in tonight’s new episode. And since Patty proved herself to Joe — and became a member of his (very small) metahuman task force — their partnership will be tested a bit as he keeps some key facts from her.
On the show’s Vancouver set, THE FLASH stars Grant Gustin (Barry), Jesse L. Martin (Joe), Candice Patton (Iris), and Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin) talked about their characters’ relationship with Patty… Read more

Comments Off on THE FLASH Team on Francine’s Return, the Impact of Earth-2 Wells
THE FLASH has brought back a few potentially traumatizing people.
Francine West — Joe’s ex and Iris’ mother — two episodes ago, and the last hour revealed the truth of what went down: she was a drug addict, who endangered her daughter…and then abandoned her family. Joe admitted his lie to Iris, who handled it very, very well.
And then there’s Earth-2’s Harrison Wells, who popped up in Earth-1 at the very end of the last episode. Last season, Eobard Thawne (posing as Wells) mentored — and terrorized — Team Flash, before Eddie’s suicide wiped Thawne from existence.
But with Francine sticking around and Wells up to…something…there could be some challenging interactions ahead for the citizens of Central City.
On the show’s Vancouver set, Grant Gustin (Barry), Jesse L. Martin (Joe), Candice Patton (Iris), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco) spoke with reporters about what’s ahead… Read more

Comments Off on THE FLASH: Teddy Sears on Playing Jay Garrick
THE FLASH introduced Jay Garrick at the very end of last week’s season premiere, as Jay arrived at STAR Labs to deliver a warning to Barry.
It marked the first time Jay had appeared in a live-action story, something that delighted his portrayer, Teddy Sears.
“It’s thrilling…I didn’t anticipate how thrilling it was going to be when I said yes,” Sears told reporters after a recent screening of THE FLASH. “What I didn’t anticipate was how important it felt when I was doing it. It’s weird, and hokey, and maybe very actor-y, but there was something very important that began happening. And most specifically, putting on that helmet…there was a real awe and reverence for seeing this thing. That was absolutely not acted at all. There was such substance in that moment. I keep coming back to this moment of ‘Wow, this feels really important.’ I can’t sum it up any better than that.”
Jay’s Flash costume is very distinctive — and could have posed a problem translating to a real-life outfit.
