Jason Sudeikis is officially guest-starring on THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, Fox announced.
The first season of the Fox comedy ended with the reveal that Sudeikis — who plays Will Forte’s brother — was still alive…in space.
“Will had an idea with what he wanted to do with that,” THE LAST MAN ON EARTH executive producer Chris Miller said at the time. “There’s a development with that in the second season that we’re hoping to do. We did set that up in the pilot: in the pilot, he hangs up a picture of his family in his new house, and you see Will and his real parents, and his brother. It’s something we planned to do all along from the very beginning. It was exciting to do, and that we were able to accomplish it!”
“Well, if I had my way, Jason Sudeikis would be a permanent member of the cast because he’s super funny and freaking awesome, and I love him as a person,” Forte gushed. “But that’s not a realistic scenario. I would never ask that of him, because he’s got so much exciting stuff going on in his life. That’s something we’ll figure out as buddies. I honestly don’t know [what’ll happen with that]. He’s been so cool already to do that part. But I definitely have a plan that we can implement.”

After two weeks of Give Me My Remote readers nominating their television favorites from the past year, it’s time to vote for the 5th Annual GMMR TV Awards!
Most of the categories have five nominees, but due to ties, the number can vary per topic. (And, as a reminder, each category can only have two nominees per show, so only the top two vote-getters from any series moved forward to the voting round.)
Next up: “Favorite New Comedy Series.”
Take a look at your nominees and then vote for your choice below!

THE LAST MAN ON EARTH Gets a New Showrunner

Former THE OFFICE executive producer Dan Sterling has joined Fox’s THE LAST MAN ON EARTH as showrunner, a rep for the show confirmed.
The comedy — which was created by star Will Forte, and executive produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord — has a 13-episode second season order, which could be expanded in the coming weeks.
“The order is for 13 [episodes],” Miller said earlier this month. “We don’t want to do 22. A big reason of that is Will’s in the writers’ room, he’s in the editing room, and it would just be impossible. I think we’re planning on doing more than 13. We’re going to figure out where the story’s going, exactly, and we’ll probably have a few more than 13. Somewhere between 13 and 22…they want more, we want to do more, also, but we have to figure it out. Even if we do more, it might be two kind of half seasons type of things.”

THE LAST MAN ON EARTH’s Phil and Carol certainly haven’t had a typical courtship and marriage, but the duo finally moved in together — thanks to Carol prompting the last cow on earth taking up residence in her home.
But how will they fare? At WonderCon, creator/star Will Forte (Phil) and executive producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord were fairly coy…but pretty hilarious in their vagueness.
Take a look…

Fox has ordered a second season of THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, the network announced.
“We knew we had something special with THE LAST MAN ON EARTH,” said David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, in a statement. “It’s one of those rare shows that continues to add depth and dimension to its unique premise, week after week. We are so thrilled that this incredibly bold, original and inventive series has been embraced by both fans and critics, and we cannot wait to see where the creative genius and inspired vision of [series star/creator] Will [Forte], [and executive producers] Phil [Lord] and Chris [Miller] take us in Season Two.”
THE LAST MAN ON EARTH airs two episodes this Sunday night starting at 9 PM. (The first episode, which was screened at WonderCon, is insanely funny.)

THE LAST MAN ON EARTH world keeps expanding, and in last week’s episodes, viewers (and the Tuscon group) met Todd (Mel Rodriguez), another survivor who thought he was alone in the world. (Sorry, Phil, you’re no longer the last man on earth!)
In addition to the joys of watching the twisted relationships between Phil, Todd, Carol, and Melissa play out, the growing cast has allowed for some hilarious bloopers. Check out these exclusive videos of Will Forte (Phil), Kristen Schaal (Carol), January Jones (Melissa), and Rodriguez cracking each other up on set while filming “Dunk the Skunk/Some Friggin’ Fat Guy”!

THE LAST MAN ON EARTH: Will Forte, Chris Miller, and Phil Lord Preview Fox’s Unique New Comedy

Comments Off on THE LAST MAN ON EARTH: Will Forte, Chris Miller, and Phil Lord Preview Fox’s Unique New Comedy
It’s not uncommon for people associated with shows to claim they’re doing something that hasn’t been done on television before. Occasionally, they’re at least partially correct. But when talking about the new Fox comedy, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, it’s hard to think of any other series that has attempted something quite like this — there is nothing on television to hold it up against, the show is its own unique being.
The basic premise is simple: Phil Miller (Will Forte) is, as the title suggests, the last man in the world. He traveled all over looking for another living being, and has now settled in Arizona (with some ball buddies).
Beyond that? The series gets a bit more complicated, as layers of the show are pulled back that really can’t be discussed until it airs.
So in the meantime, I asked THE LAST MAN ON EARTH executive producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord what they want viewers to know about the series pre-air, and spoke with series star (and creator) Forte about acting solo…

We’re less than a month away from the March 1st series debut of THE LAST MAN ON EARTH!
The new Fox comedy follows Will Forte’s Phil Miller who is, as the title suggests, the last man on earth. Poor Phil has traveled all over, desperate to find another living soul, and has come up empty…so he’s had to make a few of his own, um, unorthodox friends. (Which you’ll be able to view in the promo below.)
THE LAST MAN ON EARTH is truly unique, wickedly funny, and the pilot is unlike anything else on television (in the best way possible), so you should be getting excited for this show.
And as we wait for the show’s launch, check out an exclusive first look at the newest THE LAST MAN ON EARTH promo which will be debuting on Fox tonight…
Which 2014-2015 Television Trailers Are You Rewatching?

Comments Off on Which 2014-2015 Television Trailers Are You Rewatching?
One of the best parts about the Upfronts is we traditionally get our first looks at the new shows that will be populating our television screens during the upcoming season.
Of course, the trailers aren’t always an indication of how the show will turn out — great shows have had terrible trailers, and terrible shows have looked significantly better thanks to a great trailer. But for now, there are a few trailers I’m obsessing over for the new television season.
