Well, this is baffling: according to multiple reports, CBS has pulled the plug on THE MILLERS, ending production immediately. (Only next week’s episode is scheduled to air at this point.)
THE MILLERS had been struggling in the ratings recently (after losing its THE BIG BANG THEORY lead-in), but it’s fairly rare for a second year series to be canceled like this.

THE MILLERS will have a new series regular when the show returns for its second season: Sean Hayes!
According to CBS, Hayes will play Kip Withers, “Carol Miller’s (Margo Martindale) new best friend and a new source of friction for Carol’s son, Nathan (Will Arnett).”
“After years of being a fan and hearing from others how wonderful he is to work with, I couldn’t be more excited about Sean Hayes joining THE MILLERS,” said Greg Garcia, series creator and executive producer in a statement. “The thought of he and Margo Martindale as BFFs makes me smile every time I think about it. We’re only just getting started, and writing this season’s stories has been a blast.”

THE MILLERS returns Thursday, October 30th at 8:30 PM on CBS.

CBS has renewed 18 shows for the 2014-2015 season, the network announced.
“The best way to launch new shows in the fall and throughout the season is to surround them with a strong and stable lineup of successful series,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment in a statement. “The shows we’re picking up today cut across every night of the week and feature genre leaders, time-period winners and the most-watched shows on broadcast television.”
So which shows made the cut? Check out CBS’ announcement…
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is Coming to CBS

We may have a few months before CBS’ fall 2014 lineup gets solidified, but one big piece of the puzzle has been placed: CBS has won the rights to air NFL’s Thursday Night Football — which consists of eight early season games — the network announced today.
“We are very pleased to build on our outstanding partnership with the NFL by expanding our coverage to Thursday nights,” said CBS Corporation President and CEO Leslie Moonves in a statement. “CBS is a premium content company and the NFL represents the best premium content there is. I look forward to all this new deal will do for us not only on Thursday nights, but across our entire schedule.”
With CBS using eight Thursdays on the sporting event, no word yet on what impact that will have on its scripted shows currently there. (Perhaps a few will be shuffled, and a few others will be delayed?)
Do you think you’ll check out football on CBS?

CBS has given out its first bit of good news for the season: MOM, THE CRAZY ONES, and THE MILLERS will get their “back nines” — AKA, they’ll each get a full first season.
“We’re proud of CBS’s leadership position in comedy and excited to build on it with the back nine pick-ups of these three new comedies,” said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment in a statement. “These series are creatively distinct, continue to improve each week and are led by strong showrunners, writing and production staffs, and feature amazingly talented casts.”

Comments Off on THE MILLERS: HAPPY ENDINGS’ Eliza Coupe to Play Will Arnett’s Ex-Wife
Eliza Coupe has landed her first post-HAPPY ENDINGS TV gig: a rep for the show she’ll play the ex-wife of Will Arnett’s character, Nate, on the new CBS sitcom, THE MILLERS. EW.com was first to report the casting.
“[Coupe’s character is] an anchorwoman at the affiliate where [Nate] works,” THE MILLERS creator Greg Garcia shared. “So when we go to work, we’ll have that dynamic to play with.”
THE MILLERS follows Nate, a recently divorced man whose life is rocked when his parents split as well…and his mother moves in with him. The series also stars Margo Martindale and Beau Bridges.
THE MILLERS premieres Thursday, October 3rd at 8:30 PM on CBS.

CBS Releases Key Art for MOM, THE CRAZY ONES, THE MILLERS, and WE ARE MEN
July 24, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under CBS, Mom, The Crazy Ones, The Millers, We Are Men
CBS is debuting a handful of new comedies this fall, and they’ve whipped up some key art to give you a taste about what these shows are about.
Take a look!
MOM
CBS has released a first look of the key art designs for the NetworkâÂÂs four new comedy series, including MOM, to begin appearing in print, online and outdoor later this summer. MOM stars Anna Faris as Christy, a newly sober single mom and waitress raising two children in a world full of temptations and pitfalls, and multiple Emmy Award winner Allison Janney stars as Bonnie, ChristyâÂÂs critical, estranged mother. The key art features Janney striking a pose on top of Farisâ head/shoulders.
Which show’s key art was your favorite?

GLEE’s Jayma Mays Joins THE MILLERS

Comments Off on GLEE’s Jayma Mays Joins THE MILLERS
GLEE’s season finale may have ended with Emma and Will finally becoming husband and wife, but it doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing much of that marriage next season: a rep for CBS has confirmed that Jayma Mays (Emma on GLEE) has joined the new CBS series, THE MILLERS, as Will Arnett’s sister.
Mays’ new role, Debbie, was originally played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis in the pilot, but Ellis, along with her on-screen THE MILLERS husband (played by Michael Rappaport) were dropped from the show shortly after it was picked up. There’s no word yet on who will replace Rappaport.
Are you excited to see Mays in THE MILLERS?
