THE ORIGINALS has been off the air for nearly a month, but the show returns this Tuesday with the tension as high as ever.
Before the recent PaleyFest panel honoring the series, I spoke with Leah Pipes (Cami) about whether there was a chance for her character to be happy this season, the status of Cami’s complicated relationships with Klaus and Marcel, and more…

THE ORIGINALS’ Joseph Morgan on the Latest Klaus/Elijah Betrayal: ‘Why Don’t They Just Talk to Each Other?!’
April 7, 2014 by Marisa Roffman
THE ORIGINALS’ Klaus and Elijah haven’t been any more at peace in New Orleans versus how we saw them in Mystic Falls (on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), and Klaus, once again, has made a move behind his brother’s back that is likely to cause more tension for the men. As THE ORIGINALS star Joseph Morgan (Klaus) lamented in the video below, “Why don’t they just talk to each other? Instead of always conspiring behind his back — you’d think 1000 years, he’d have learned some manners!”
Check out what else Morgan told reporters before the show’s PaleyFest panel about the Elijah/Klaus tension, Klaus’ werewolf family, the stress of impending fatherhood, and more…

THE ORIGINALS is on a mini-hiatus until mid-April, but you don’t have to wait that long to get a tease about what’s ahead on the show.
Before this weekend’s PaleyFest panel honoring THE ORIGINALS (and its mothership series, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), THE ORIGINALS star Daniel Gillies (Elijah) talked with reporters about fan support — and upcoming moments — for Elijah and Hayley, another Klaus betrayal, and more…

THE ORIGINALS: Julie Plec on the Possibility of Rebekah Returning via Flashbacks — or to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

Comments Off on THE ORIGINALS: Julie Plec on the Possibility of Rebekah Returning via Flashbacks — or to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
THE ORIGINALS shocked viewers when the show said goodbye to one of the core family members, Claire Holt’s Rebekah, in the March 11th episode of the freshman series. (Holt’s decision to leave the show was what prompted the writers to send Rebekah out of town.)
But THE ORIGINALS is a series that, so far, has relied on flashbacks to the siblings’ past tensions and relationships to explain and expand on what is going on in the present. So before Saturday night’s PaleyFest panel for THE ORIGINALS and its mothership series, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, I asked THE ORIGINALS boss Julie Plec if it was plausible to expect to see Rebekah in those flashbacks — or if it was possible for her to turn up on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES again.

The CW has gotten an early start on renewals for its 2014-2015 season: the network has renewed SUPERNATURAL, ARROW, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE ORIGINALS, and REIGN.
“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series THE ORIGINALS paired with SUPERNATURAL, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years,” Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW said in a statement. “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is #2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with ARROW continuing to gain among young men, and REIGN growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”
Which renewal has you most excited?

The CW has picked up THE ORIGINALS, THE TOMORROW PEOPLE, and REIGN — AKA all three of its freshman dramas — for full seasons, the network announced earlier today.
“In just a few seasons, we have built a much stronger primetime schedule. Our on-air ratings are up year to year, and our digital viewing continues to grow exponentially,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW, in a statement. “We’re excited about the creative momentum the producers have established for all three of our new series, and now our fans will have the chance to see the full stories unfold for them this season. With the additional episodes ordered, plus two new dramas and new reality for midseason, we’ll be able to continue our commitment to adding more original programming all year long.”
