The Summit cliff climbing

“An Unexpected Storm” – After a weather delay pauses the group’s progress, they set out to try and make up for lost time. When they reach an obstacle that forces them to split into pairs, one Leader and one Follower, to traverse a steep cliff, one trekker is left to face the challenge alone, bringing alliances and connections into question, on THE SUMMIT, Wednesday, Oct. 23 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). On the Wednesday, October 23 episode of THE SUMMIT, the remaining contestants are given a new task: They have to climb a terrifying cliff—while paired up, with one person being the official Leader and the other the Follower.

“I’m a little bit nervous because we’ve got a lot of people who do not like heights, and that’s going to slow us all down,” Robert says in an exclusive clip from the episode below.

“This is a primal kind of terrifying because you’re hanging off the side of a cliff,” Jennye notes.

And as she makes the journey up the cliff, well…it does not go well. Jennye quickly gets nervous about the situation and decides she can’t go on. “I am hanging off the side of the mountain, and I am going to stay here until someone comes and gets me,” she insists mid-climb.

The contestants are starting to get wary of each other on the Wednesday, October 16 episode of THE SUMMIT.

“There’s one person that I do not trust, and that’s Dennis,” Geoff explains in an exclusive clip from the episode, “Snakes and Ladders,” below. “I thought Dennis was my guy, but this man is playing his part.”

In fact, Geoff shares in an interview with the show’s production team, Dennis has been claiming to be buddy-buddy with him, to his face…but Geoff has been warned Dennis has been throwing his name around as a possible target to others.

“This man is doing way too much,” Geoff says. “He’s spiraling out of control. And it’s gonna blow up in his face very soon, I’m very sure of that.”

“To the Summit” – Sixteen ordinary Americans embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through the treacherous New Zealand Alps in an attempt to reach the peak of a towering mountain in just 14 days in order to keep their share of the $1 million prize they’re carrying in their backpacks. On CBS’ THE SUMMIT, 16 strangers are brought to the New Zealand Alps, aware they’re going to be competing, but unclear about what their task actually is. In the show’s series premiere (which airs with a special preview on Sunday, September 29 at 9/8c; 8:30 PM PT), they discover their goal of the series: They have to climb up a mountain—while also carrying the $1 million prize—in two weeks.

The journey is treacherous, with physical and mental challenges…and a “Mountain’s Keeper,” watching from afar, who makes sure they abide by the rules in place.

As the contestants make the trek, they have host Manu Bennett along for the ride. Bennett, best known to TV audiences from his roles on SPARTACUS and ARROW, pops up along the way to check in on the group, be there as they have to make their eliminations, and give them vital pieces of gameplay information.

Here, Bennett talks with Give Me My Remote about moving into the hosting world and what viewers can expect from the new series. Read more
