Back in March, THE X-FILES creator Chris Carter made the surprise announcement that the franchise was potentially on the verge of being revived by Ryan Coogler.
While details were scarce at the time, a source confirmed Coogler’s new take was not being developed for Fox. Additionally, the intention is for the new story to be centered around a diverse cast.

THE X-FILES may be returning—with a new creative team behind it.

In honor of the NCAA tournament season, Give Me My Remote is bringing back our TV-centric bracket, pitting similarly titled episodes against each other: Couch Madness! (Credit for the excellent name goes to fellow reporter Chris Hayner.)
The seeding is simple: rather than quality of the hour, we’re going by air date (with the oldest episode getting the #1 slot and the newest getting #8). With Peak TV, this will not include every single show that has used this title; rather, we picked a selection from what was available.
We’re now up to the final round, with voting running from Monday, March 27 through Friday, March 31.
Next up? “Memento Mori.” Keep reading for the bracket, episode descriptions (from IMDB), and the poll. (For the other episodes competing, check out all the brackets here!) Read more

More than 30 members of THE X-FILES cast and crew reunited to recreate the show’s iconic theme song—for a good cause.
In the video, series stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny were joined by a group of memorable faces who performed the theme song twice: once a capella and then with fan-created lyrics by Jennifer Large and Rebecca MacDonald. The goal? To raise funds for the World Central Kitchen. (Fans can donate either directly through YouTube or via the WCK site.)

Top 15 Shows and Episodes of 2018

Comments Off on Top 15 Shows and Episodes of 2018
In case you haven’t heard, there’s a lot of TV. A lot. Close to 500 scripted shows, in fact. That’s made these “end of year” lists absolutely brutal.
So here are a few caveats:
1) This is a hybrid list of the best episodes and shows I watched this year. My rules were I could only have one overlap with show and episode (which also happens to be my personal pick for best show/episode of the year) and I couldn’t pick a show if I hadn’t finished every episode that aired in 2018. (That also means shows I really have been enjoying like KIDDING and ESCAPE FROM DANNEMORA aren’t on the list. There just are not enough hours in the day.)
2) Given the sheer amount of TV, it’s quite possible/probable your favorite isn’t represented here. I’m sorry! But feel free to let me know what particularly excited you this year in the comments.
That being said, here is the list (in alphabetical order)…

THE X-FILES: Twenty Years Later, ‘How the Ghosts Stole Christmas’ Is Still a Gift

It’s difficult to single out a definitive episode of THE X-FILES, a show that never wanted to be easily defined. But if you had to try, you could do a lot worse than “How the Ghosts Stole Christmas,” a holiday treat that comes almost dangerously close to embodying everything that makes Fox Mulder and Dana Scully work.
