In 2007, the first Richelle Mead book from the VAMPIRE ACADEMY series was released. Five more books followed, as did a 2014 film adaptation. And now Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre teamed up to bring the world to life via the new Peacock show.
“We were fans [of the] the books first, many, many years ago, before we even dreamt of making it a TV show,” Plec previously shared. “And we wanted to treat the source material with that respect, and we wanted to tell the stories very much like how Richelle Mead told the stories.”

Now, Julie Plec—who co-developed TVD, and executive produced all three TVD-universe shows—is looking to bring another beloved vampire book series to life: Peacock’s VAMPIRE ACADEMY, which is inspired by the Richelle Mead book series. (It previously was adapted as a film.)
