‘Welcome to My Home’ – Funniest Video Ever!!!
November 14, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Last night as I was hopping around this little world wide web of ours I came across a New York Magazine article that asked celebrities what their favorite YouTube videos were. Among the celebs queried was my frienemy, Rashida Jones. She made mention of a video called ‘Welcome to My World’ by former The Young and the Restless star, Brenda Dickson – here’s what Rashida had to say”
“You have to go home and watch it right now. She was on The Young and the Restless in the seventies and eighties. She produced a video by herself, introducing you into her life and sort of showing you how to dress like her and eat like her and work out like her. It is so well produced, without irony. It is pitch-perfect eighties. She is literally facing a wall in between a mirror and a painting, just facing a wall in a gold gown, and she turns around, ‘Well, hello! I’m Brenda Dickson. Lots of people ask me how I look as good as I do after eleven and a half years on The Young and the Restless.’ It’s insane! It’s so entertaining.”
Well since I dare not defy any advice coming from the lovely Ms. Jones, I headed over to YouTube and checked this out for myself. And when I tell you this video is pure GOLD, I’m not kidding. Actually gold lame, but somehow still classy!
I know this isn’t exactly TV, but there is no way I could not share this with all of you. It’s simply amazing!
‘Welcome To My Home’ (Parts 1 & 2)
My friend Steph just sent along this ‘Welcome to My Home’ parody which is also hysterical (WARNING!! The language and subject matter may be offensive to some)

Well, hello! Welcome to my be it male or female, I eat this almost every other day!
(I actually remember watching her on Young & the Restless when I was a kid–she was a terrible actress. Shocking, no?)
This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time and the parody is genius. Darn that Rashida! Not only does she have my man, but she has fabulous, silly taste. Thanks, Kath, for passing this along to us. I’m off to match my lipstick and nail polish to my accessories…
I had actually seen this before. Hilarious! I love the 80’s.
During the kitchen segment, I half expected her to teach us how to stomp grapes…. I’m pretty sure that outfit was used on I Love Lucy….
Umm…I’m still laughing as I type this. This is too fantastic not to share.
I especially liked the pardoy… “My shirt just threw up on my head.”
I LOVED her diet tips… “Eat less.” I’m telling you, she’s a genius. 🙂 Now I’m going to go put on a gold dress and watch TV (I couldn’t imagine wearing a dress like that years ago…)
I practically hyperventilated watching the last one.
Who would not choose a diamond necklace to go with an ostrich-feathered dress?!
Whack-A-Mole…LOL!
That. was. GREAT!
I only lived for 2 years in the 80s, but I still found it hilarious. I loved how she clearly had lipstick on her teeth at several points and called herself “light complicted” – sounded like a Michael Scott term. Thannnks for sharing this!
“Notice the slit?” LOL!!
I actually remember her on the Young and the Restless. Unlike Jodi above I was around for ALL of the ’80s. Sigh….
Ok, that might be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
“I chose an orange lipstick.” rofl!
Thanks GMMR!
I never watched Y&R, but it’s things like this that make me sad I was a child of the 80’s.
“Try to cut out fat.” “There are doctors you can see to help you with your wieght problem.” OMG! People actually paid money to own this video.
OK, I’m off to walk my dog. His name is not Charlie.
“Ostrich feathers anyone?” “Here I’ve added a fox, draped over my shoulder” Oh my lord this was incredible. GMMR I hope we get more stuff like this if the strike goes on. This made my day. Thanks!
You have made my day with this video! I love how she says something like ‘a few years ago, I wouldn’t have worn this dress’… oh Brenda.
The parody was amazing. I laughed through the whole thing. I’m sure it deserves a rewatch.
[…] Project Runway | 10pm on Bravo “I Started Crying” The designers merge into teams for a battle involving fashion faux pas. I was surprised that I didn’t get a call to be a mode for this episode. Although I don’t worry too much about fashion because snake and jeans is always a good look. […]
Hahahahaha I love the parody. Deven Green is amazing.
“Oh, is that me on the wall? I drew it myself. WITH CHALK.”
